"My dear friend, you're going to help me in organizing all the events of their wedding." Emily said with finality and excitement in her voice.
My body paled and it exceptionally turned hot hearing at what she said. I don't know but that information doesn't settle well with me. My heart started thumping loudly and I knew that my participation in this event would not turn out to be good for me.
I turned away from her and took a coffee mug from Sophia that I'll make it and started making it, completely ignoring what Emily said few seconds ago.
I felt rigidness and I stiffened when she asked me, "Are you joining me, right?"
I didn't reply her and started making my way inside the cooking room which was private and customers weren't allowed to enter.
"Alice! Why the hell are you ignoring me?" Emily followed me inside and yelled irritatingly.
"To be honest, Emily." I kept the cup on table and looked at her with serious face. "I don't think that it's a good idea."
She held my hands when she saw how serious I looked. She squeezed my hand and I saw her getting worried for me which I never wanted.
"What happen, Alice? It's there any problem? If it is then you can always rely on. You remember that, right?" She smiled in a comfort manner and said with such a sweet tone that I felt like an ass to worry her like that.
"No there is nothing to worry, Em. I'm completely fine and but hearing about that wedding event, my instincts immediately reacted. It happened naturally that I have a gut feeling that I shouldn't be a part of that event." I said and felt the beads of sweat on my forehead.
"It's okay. As you like it, Alice." She smiled and said.
We both exited the private cooking room and I finally made the coffee and with cream I made a smiley face for the 17 years old girl who was apparently upset over something.
Adrian went and served her the coffee. She said thanks in a monotone but her eyes immediately lighten up when she saw the smiley face and she looked at Adrian with happy eyes from which excitement was pouring out.
Adrian pointed towards me and she looked at me. I made a smiley face as well and asked her to smile too. She gave me a flying kiss and giggled.
This was my beautiful and content life in which I make people smile. Smile is the best remedy to face challenges and painful memories.
I turned towards Emily who had a scowl on her face and she looked furious. I knew what she wanted. She ensues me to help her in project though she understood me but she always do what pleases her.
"What?" I said and rolled my eyes.
"Stop rolling your eyes at me. You never help—" she stopped and started making her way towards uncle Joseph who was reading the newspaper while sipping his favourite coffee latte.
She went and sat on a chair near his and snatched his newspaper and asked him to pay attention towards her. She started whispering something to him and I knew this was going to be a trap real soon.
I gladly accepted the tip given by the people and held my counter responsibilities along with it I was helping Anna, Adrian and Sophia with their works.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw Emily talking with uncle with pleading eyes. I bet she was asking him to make me say yes.
Yes! That's a typical Emily for you.
Few minutes later I saw uncle Joseph and Emily approaching me. Uncle had a serious face whereas Emily had a evil smirk on her face like she was about to conquer a whole country. Seeing this Anna, Adrian and Sophia gathered as well. Even they predicted that what was coming.
"Tell me, Alice. Why are you not being a part of Emily's event. She really needs your help." Uncle Joseph said in a scolding manner and Emily must be dancing mentally.
"Uncle! You understand me more than anything and I really don't want to be part of this event. You know I have always helped her in her events but not this one. My instincts are not allowing me this time." I whined and expected them to understand.
"Your instincts are not allowing you? Why?" He asked because I worried him. I felt bad to make him stressed.
"I don't know, uncle. Besides I have cafe to run and a book to write. And why the hell Emily and Mark took this project if they couldn't handle it." I rolled my eyes and said with irritation and annoyance in my voice.
"What? How mean Alice! You're questioning my abilities?" She said loudly but we all hushed this dramatic queen because it was a freaking cafe not her drawing room.
"Alice! Please please help me in it. You have a very good taste and you're brilliant in handling stressful situations. Please! This is last and I won't be asking you any other help. This event is so important for us. It's grand event and if we are successful in it, our company will be included in famous event managing companies." She whined while folding both her hands together and whining with puppy eyes.
"Emily!" I said in frustration. She wiggles her eye brows, waiting for my response.
"What about the cafe? This event is 15 days later and it has more than 5 functions. Who will handle the cafe because with that event, I won't be able to concentrate in my cafe." I frustratingly said and worry was dripping from my voice.
"We are here!" Anna, Adrian and Sophia all said together and with rhythm. They all burst into fits of laughter seeing how shocked I looked.
"We all are here, Alice. We have handled cafe before as well when you were sick and busy with book launching. We will make sure that cafe runs smoothly." Sophia said softly and tried to comfort me.
"We will also report you about the cafe at the end of the day." Adrian said and Anna nodded agreeing with him.
"I trust you guys." I smiled and felt my heart at peace. I knew that they'll handle amazingly even in my absence. I don't doubt their capabilities and efficiencies.
"Besides I'll be here in cafe every morning from 8am till the cafe ends. At least I'm able to take orders and make coffees." Uncle Joseph grinned at me and all chuckled.
I gave a second thought to my opinion before declaring my decision but I had confusion in my mind and I felt nervousness.
"When it's feel scary to jump, that is exactly when you jump. Otherwise you end up staying in the same place your whole life"
These beautiful words of my father rang in my mind lightening up my mood and heart. I knew what I had to do now.
"Okay, I'm up for the event." I finally said.
Emily squealed in happiness and jumped in my arms. She hugged me tightly and kissed my cheeks.
"Thank you, thank you so much, Alice. Mark is going to be so happy as well. I know this event is going to be best event of our life." She said after peppering kisses on my face.
I hugged her tightly and I removed all delusions and bad thoughts from my mind and embraced the new chapter which was in front of me.
I and Emily left the cafe and currently we were in her car. I kept my hair open which I tied in cafe. Emily was driving the car giving me thorough information about the event. I started writing the main point on my writing pad which was luckily present in my purse.
"All the arrangements will be done by us but by the instruction of Mr. Aaron's best friend." She told me while driving the car.
"His best friend will decide about his own wedding? Why can't he decide by himself?" I said in shocking manner.
Why would anyone give this beautiful thing of his own life to his best friend?
"That I don't know but he'll manage the venu, menu, decorations and everything even which functions are going to be included is going to be decided by him." She explained me while taking the U turn because there was a lot of traffic on the main road.
"What's the name of Aaron's best friend?" I asked her.
"I don't know." She said.
"You don't know anything." I shockingly said and scolded her. "You can't be serious with your work. That's how you're going to manage your work." I scolded her because I can't believe how irresponsible she was acting.
"Okay, you don't dad me. Mark handles all of this and right now he's in venu of engagement party and he needs my presence there. And Mr. Aaron's best friend is coming and it was our duty to pick him up and drop him at hotel." She said and looked pleadingly at me.
"So?" I asked her by arching my eye brows. I dreaded to what she was going to say to me.
"So, you're going to the airport and pick Mr. Aaron's best friend up." She said while clenching and unclenching her hand which she does when she's nervous.
