"Why don't you speak such beautiful lines for me? Look how beautiful Alice writes!" The girl whined and pushed the boy and reached across the counter and sat their angrily.
Alice?!
This name clicked me and I got stiffened and alert. I had urge to go to them and ask about which Alice they are talking about? But I shrugged off this thought because I was acting like a psycho who's crazy behind a girl. There are a thousands of girls with this name: Alice.
I continued sipping my black coffee while checking the emails. The environment was so soothing and calm. Everyone was busy is their chores and customers were enjoying having their teas and coffees.
I remember that I used to meet Eliza at the cafe and she used to speak non-stop and I used to stare at her angelic face. Those days were so beautiful in which I had nothing yet I had everything. But the difference is that now I have started thanking God for all the blessing that He has blessed me with.
I finished my coffee and left a tip there. I was about to leave the cafe but my heart wanted something else. I still had the urge to ask the lady about the book and the girl named; "Alice."
I went to the counter and smiled politely at her to which she smiled back and asked me, "yes, sir. Do you need something else?"
"Umm, I loved the coffee and thank you so much." I got perplexed that was that appropriate of me to ask her this and said this instead.
"Really? Thank you so much, sir. We are glad that you loved it. You know this coffee is our boss's special one and she has taught us how to make it." Her face twinkled up and she started speaking too much.
"Oh! She's a great coffee-maker then." I smiled at her excitement and decided to leave when a voice stopped me. I turned to see a young boy whom she was scolding few minutes ago stood beside her.
"Sir, we have seen you for the first time here. If you don't mind, can we say something?" He asked me politely.
I really liked how politely they were talking. I nodded and he started saying, "Sir, our boss says, that we all humans are really busy in the hustle bustle of life that we ignore little things in our lives. So, that's why we should always make wishes from God. Maybe He would grant us." He said and it really get through my heart. I smiled and nodded.
"Your boss says the truth. I'd like to see her anytime soon. Anyways, really amazing coffee with great staff." I said enthusiastically pointing out towards the cafe as a whole.
"Hope to see you again, sir." Another lady from the staff said. There was pure happiness on everyone's face and the whole cafe was giving out joyous vibes. I decided to visit the cafe soon. I really liked the place.
I entered my suite and quickly took a shower and changed into pant and coat before taking my breakfast that I had already ordered. I called Mark to give me the address of the engagement banquet. I had to see all the progress and details of the event else Aaron would kill me.
He has completely no idea how to arrange all these steps. He knows me from the Eliza time and how I used to give her surprises and romantic dates that's why he called me to see all the arrangements personally. According to him this is also my vacation from the work because I've been to vacation almost about six to seven years.
I got into the car and opened the google map. I logged in the location and successfully after the drive of about half an hour I reached the destination.
I saw that all the workers and employees of event managing company were already there. They were working and co-ordinating with each other. The location was so beautiful and there was artificial ocean beside the venue.
I really liked this place that's why I asked them to book this for their engagement.
I entered and was immediately greeted by Mark and Emily. They told me about the progress but I was still not satisfied because the engagement was in next three days yet the the decoration and designs were not selected.
"Mark, you know that this is very important event. Yet I see not so great progress in the work." I told him sternly and he was tensed and nervous under my calculated gaze. The atmosphere around us was serious and the silence was thick. All of them stopped working and started looking at us.
"Sir, I'll arrange everything on time. Just please be patient with us." Mark pleaded and looked at me for any signs of compassion for them.
"I booked this banquet for about a week ago and the work was assigned to you at the instant and here after a week, I'm seeing absolutely no progress and you are asking me to be patient with you guys." My voice boomed across the hall and all of their heads were hanging low.
"We are sorry, sir. But we will complete the work on time." Emily said with pleading eyes and she looked at me scary eyes. I have known her from the accident times. There was chance for me to spare them and give them a chance but I am really professional in my work and this was the freaking wedding of my best friend.
"If you guys can't do the work, tell me! I'll give this event to some real professional company." I authoritatively said and they all jumped with my voice. I gave emphasis to "real professional company" to let them know that how they had disappointed me.
"Excuse me, sir!" I heard a soft voice coming from behind. Her voice was a treat to hear. How softly they fell on my ears.
I remember the voice and I knew to whom this belongs. I turned around to see the most beautiful face which had my heart filled with desires. My heart starting beating twice of it's rate and I felt utter bliss to see her.
She was wearing a beautiful light pink top with white tights and sneakers. Her hair were loose and she was looking so beautiful yet simple and decent. She had bare make up on her face and all her beauty was natural.
She had few files and notes in her hands and she was waving her hand at me and I got back to reality. I didn't know that I had been staring at me.
She came forward and stood beside Emily and Mark. She gave files to Emily and looked at me pleadingly. She was looking so adorable making such a cute sad face.
"We are really sorry. We know that we had wasted time but trust me, I'll make this event so beautiful and you'll never repent giving this project to our company." She said with sweet and soft voice.
"Really, Ms Alice?" I arched my eye brow and looked at her mischievously. It was so shocking that how my mood switched after seeing her.
"Yes, James!" She said happily and immediately shut her mouth when she saw everybody looking at her with wide eyes because she took my name. I knew that by this time everybody was intimidated by me and my aura yet she had dared to call me by my name.
"It's okay." I chuckled and I addressed this to everyone who were watching at us with shocking expressions.
"Thank you, Mr. Ashton. We will not disappoint you." She said softly and looked happily at me and then at her friends which were so happy and relieved after seeing Alice.
"I hope so. I am giving this chance because of you, Alice. Don't disappoint me." I said to her with a serious expression because after all it was Aaron's wedding.
She nodded and all the people scattered from this place and started doing their work. I got a call from my PA. I excused myself and left the place to talk privately. But before going, I heard Alice whispering angrily at Emily.
"See I always told you to be professional at work! What if I had not come and Mr. Angry young man had canceled this event?" She was wiggling her eye brows while scolding Emily and Mark.
I got shocked that she called me angry young man. Because of her I gave another chance and she was calling me by names. I chuckled seeing this. She was looking so cute while scolding her friends. Few minutes ago she was speaking so sweetly and politely like she had eaten a bottle of honey in breakfast.
What was happening to me? Because of her, I stopped scolding and broke my rule of professionalism. I gave them another chance, however I knew that I'd be impossible for them to complete all the tasks within the given time.
Still, my heart wanted to believe Alice. That's right because of her, I gave them another chance.
I smiled and left the place to attend the call with the only thought;
"She's different."
