Chapter 1 - The Captain

William opened his eyes. The grey ceiling of his quarters filled his vision. He sat up to look out of his viewport, seeing the many lights that filled the vast emptiness of space. The captain's quarters were in the upper level of the ship. Normally, they didn't have view ports, but Will was able to pull some strings.

He got up and approached the closet that was built into the wall. The room looked bland, like a cell when all of the pieces were stored, but the room actually had a lot of furniture in it. It just was all inside the walls, waiting for a voice command to ask it to pop out. Will changed into his clothes, put on his uniform and placed the Captain bracket on his breast. He shrugged and walked towards the door. The door slid open, and two death trooper guards waited for him. These troopers were not wearing the standard black armor Death troopers were usually given. These two wore armor that was a Crimson red, with a black line going down the right chest plate all the way to their feet. These were William's honor guard. They really weren't needed, but the higher ups wanted all ship captains to have guards in case of a rebel assassination attempt.

The guards and Will walked through the halls, heading towards the bridge, soldiers saluting him as he passed. Will would always nod, letting them know he saw them. The three finally reached the bridge. All of the members of the bridge stopped whatever they were doing and stood up, saluting him as he walked to the view point. William walked to the window, then turned, and saluted the crew in return. Across the bridge, there were more red and black Death troopers. Another nickname these troops had received from the normal enlists was William's Red Death.

One thing unique about Captain William Jaeger was that he would go on the battlegrounds with his troops, followed by his Red Death. He would join his troops to inspire them to fight for the might of the Empire. William also had his own suit of armor, which held an arsenal of weapons. Some may consider it a man sized TX-130 fighter.

William turned and looked out of the viewpoint, gazing into space. There was a planet in his sights, known on the Imperial databases as Geinas 372, no known intelligent life forms useful to the Empire, and massive fields for farms. It was one of the most "important" planets to the empire. An officer walked up to William, holding a data pad. William grabbed it and read the information on it.

It read, "One of the slave bases on Geinas 372 was assaulted by an unknown force. Intelligence can only assume Rebels, but since it's so close to the Outer Rim, it could be a Hutt raid, or random pirates. Whoever it is, they are freeing the workers, taking the food stores and burning the crops and facilities beyond repair. Your mission is to prevent any more farms from being destroyed and either capture or kill the leader of the enemy force."

William nodded and handed the data pad back to the officer, then looked to the console. He tapped some buttons on the console near him, and an echo was heard throughout the ship.

"Attention, crew. This is your captain speaking. Our farms are being attacked, and we have been assigned to take out whoever is doing it. Let's make sure this succeeds. For the Emperor."

The entirety of the bridge replied with, "For the Emperor!" And saluted. Will then turned to an officer, Lieutenant Andriana Despa. Someone Will considered a close friend.

"Make sure she doesn't blow up." Will said, walking past Andriana. She smiled, and gave him a simple nod as he moved to the lift. Will's guards followed, joining him in the lift. One of the troopers spoke.

"You suiting up with us, sir?" one asked as the lift doors closed. The sound the helmet made almost drowned out the voice in William's comm piece.

Will chuckled and looked at the trooper. "You know it."
