Chapter 3 - The Cell

Inside the garrison's war room, William laughed, drawing the attention of some of the other officers. Two of his troopers looked at him as he approached a holotable. He brought up a holographic map and highlighted a location. "That's where their ship is. If we hit them from behind the tree line, we can set up charges and prevent their escape." He said, a little animation of the rebel frigate blowing up. He then looked at an officer. "Contact the Emperor's Conviction and get the rest of my soldiers ready. We attack now." Will moved away, heading for the hangar of the garrison, placing the helmet back into his head. The two troopers followed close behind him.

When he reached the hangar, he saw the rest of his honor guard standing near their drop ships, along with an officer from their own ship. The officer turned when he noticed the other Red Death troopers standing at attention, and quickly fixed his posture as William approached him. "Contact the ship and get some TIE fighters ready for a strike if need be, understood?" The officer he spoke to nodded, and Will boarded the drop ship, followed by the troops that were there. The ships closed and lifted off, flying towards the destination the base was. The Red Death troopers began to check their gear.

The rebel hideout was lively, rebels running from one tent to another. A group of rebels were gathering next to a LAAT dropship, preparing to attack the garrison they just tried to hit, this time using extreme force. A woman walked into the rebel Tantive IV blockade runner, heading to speak with the leader of the cell. She walked past some engineers working within the ship and entered his quarters.

The leader looked at the paper map he had acquired of the planet the pirates called Slave Haven. The rebels had assigned him to try and free the slaves and offer them a chance to join their cause. To free a slaved galaxy from the leash of the Empire. The man then looked up when he saw the woman walk in with a face filled with sorrow. "What do you have to report, Shiran?"

For a moment, she stayed quiet, but then finally spoke. "Desmonadon, sir, the raid, didn't survive. Everyone was killed. The Empire anticipated the attack." she reported. He sighed, then his eyes widened when he heard the explosion and the sounds of blaster fire. Desmonadon walked past the desk and Shiran, grabbing his DL-44 pistol and rushing out of his office. Shiran followed him, trying to catch up to Desmonadon. She pulled out her Hunter V carbine and ran through the hall. Both lost their balance when the ship tilted slightly.

"We're being attacked!" A random rebel ran up to the two, blood streaking down his forehead he fell over. Desmonadon caught him before he could hit the floor of the ship.

"Soldier, can you tell me who is attacking us? " he asked, knowing what the answer was.

"Red..." The soldier closed his eyes, his body going limp and lifeless. Desmonadon let go and continued to go outside.

"Sir, storm troopers?" Shiran asked, hearing the blaster fire growing louder and louder.

"Worse. The Red Death. Elite Death Troopers led by a beast known as William Jaeger." Desmonadon said, reaching the ramp and looking out to see the base they had set up was being demolished. He saw a death trooper and took a shot at him, the shots only dissolving into the soldier's shield. The trooper turned and saw the two, pointing his TL-50 to the two. The two were ready for three bolts to fire at them in succession, but instead Desmonadon saw the red charge building up on the bottom of the barrel. "Run." He shouted, heading back into the ship, but as he turned, the blast launched to them, sending him flying to the wall and disintegrating Shiran.

As Desmonadon regained consciousness, he saw the red trooper walk up to him and place the barrel on his head. Desmonadon gritted his teeth, waiting for him to pull the trigger, but eased the tension when he heard the word "Don't." The barrel was moved and the red trooper walked away, only to be replaced with a second larger red trooper. This trooper looked different than the other ones, and his eyes were...glowing. The trooper knelt down, looking Desmonadon in his half opened eyes. "You look important. Tell me what I need to know." He said, grabbing Desmonadon by his jacket and dragging him into the rebel blockade runner. Desmonadon watched as troopers moved through his ship, going through and taking people out of their rooms, taking some to imprison while killing those that tried to resist. Desmonadon sighed and noticed they were back in his quarters. The trooper sat him down in his chair, and moved to the door and shut it. The trooper then took a free seat and made himself comfortable.

The leader of the troopers spoke, his voice altered and static lining the words. "So, tell me everything about the rebels. Their movements, tactics, goals. All that fancy stuff." He said, leaning on his knees. Desmonadon looked around.

"Well, you've basically taken everything from me, so I guess it doesn't matter. I'll tell you what I know." Desmonadon sat back in his chair, trying to get comfortable as it was probably the last time he'd be able to sit in it.

"The main goal of the Rebel Alliance is to try and free the galaxy from the grip of the tyrannical Empire. The Empire may show the public that it's alright, but by evidence of this planet's existence, it's all a lie." Desmonadon stopped, watching as the storm trooper raised his arm. Desmonadon saw the blaster attached to the side and prepared for death, but was surprised to see the trooper taking off his own helmet. The man behind the mask was young, at least in his late twenties. He had a scar going across his right eye, and his short black hair was messy and damp, as well as the hair that covered his face. The man set his helmet down and got comfortable once again. "Go on, continue."

Desmonadon blinked, then continued on. "I came from a planet like this, enslaved, tortured... I'm only here now because a group of rebels attacked and freed my people." He said, raising his right sleeve to show the brand on his arm. The soldier nodded, continuing to listen. Desmonadon continued. "The people are scared of the Empire that claims to protect them, but they only make the galaxy better for those who can afford it." The soldier nodded, then leaned in.

"That's a very sound argument." He scratched his beard. "Too bad it doesn't mean you're right." The soldier got up and walked over to Desmonadon. "The 'Rebellion' has taken countless of lives, innocent lives, for their 'quest for freedom'. They're nothing better than terrorists, spreading false hopes and altered truths to try and get their way. People that join them are bound to die!" He shouted, forcing Desmonadon to take his seat. "I would know. My older sister..." The soldier paused, stepping away from the rebel captain. Just then, one of his troopers came walking in. To Desmonadon, the sound the trooper was making was similar to static, but to the other trooper, it was clear as day.

"William, sir, the camp has been destroyed. All rebels have been neutralized." He said, standing at attention. Will walked up to him and grabbed his chest plate.

"I want you to ransack this ship. Take everything of use. Once we're done here, demolish it." The trooper saluted him, then stepped away. Will then turned back to the captain, tears running down his eyes. He grabbed him by the jacket and began to drag him from his desk. "You're coming with me. I still have use for you." Will stopped to grab his helmet and put it on. The lights turned back on and Will dragged Desmonadon down the hall. Desmonadon watched as his ship was ransacked. He closed his eyes and waited for the nightmare to end.

Will walked up to the first drop ship and tossed Desmonadon in, grunting as he lifted the man's body. He then turned to the closest trooper and grabbed him. "Separate the prisoners into different drop ships. Don't need them to try anything as we head back to the ship," He looked to Desmonadon, "Give this one extra guards." The trooper nodded, and William walked into a drop ship. The ship's ramp raised, and the ship took off, heading for the Emperor's Conviction.
