Seeing my brother in such a state made me wanna both smack him and laugh hysterically at his stupidity, so that's what I did. He then started whining as I slipped my arm under his shoulder to help him get to the cab Sillias had caught outside for us to go home.
Now you may be wondering what kind of 17-year-old doesn't own a car yet, I'm qualified to drive. So why no car you ask? truth be told, I just prefer walking, taking my own car would be too much work, who's gonna buy me a car? Me. and I'd rather spend my money on a lifetime supply of McNuggets from McDonald's than a car in which I'd have to fuel up and chaperone people around. Times when I'm lazy to walk places I carpool with Adi or take public transport. Unfortunately, situations like this, I regret not being one of those teenagers who prioritise luxury over food.
Adi kept stumbling down the steps, slurring complains about how his toes refused to be his friends? rolling my eyes at him I helped his unearthly clumsy ass downstairs. We made it downstairs fairly easily considering people made way for us.
Making our way to the cab, however, was a much tougher task. With drunk bodies pushing past us, barely being able to cling on to the giant baby behind me, I pull his hand while he kept waving at random people around us screaming "THANK YOU MIAMI, I LOVE YOU ALL".
That's when the song Hot Girl Bummer played on, Adi starts tugging on my hand, whining to let him dance. Before being able to drag him where we had kept Sillias and an asleep B, Adi let go of me and made his way back to the dancefloor ( which is actually the whole floor but still,) and started dancing like a tube man, the inflatable tall noodle arms thing? yup, Those.
After a few seconds of amusing myself, I realised its 1 am. On. A. School. Night. Knowing my night isn't even over and I'll have to be going to school in the next 5 to 6 hours just dumped my whole mood.
With my sudden burst of realization, I yet once again proceeded in hauling my brother out of the mansion. determined not to let anything get in my way from my bed for much longer. When Sillias saw us outside, he was mad. why? pfft, no clue. it possibly tiny bit may have been because I left him with a crazy violent girl. yah no shit. he visibly became sober, which no matter how scary it seemed to me at the moment since we took our sweet-ass time getting down here, I felt a rush of relief, at least I don't have to be dealing with 2 drunk teenagers alone. that's when I wonder, damn, is this how ma feels when we go to parties? I mean she knows that we've drunk before, underaged might I add, but didn't say much. OHMYGOD I'M BECOMING MY MOTHER-
Not gonna lie, what Adi did now probably was the sweetest bromance moment I'd witnessed. when walking towards the cab, Adi left my hand and rushed towards Sillias only to crush hug him like he was a 4th-grade plushy Donald duck. That's also what probably saved my ass from getting screwed by my brother's best friend for taking so long. Sillias's eyes softened and smiled at Adi for a second before shoving him into the backseat of the car.
Once getting into the Cab, with the bald, middle-aged cab driver who kept glancing at us with judgemental eyes. Sillias sat in the passenger seat leaving me for the backseat with an asleep best friend and a shit annoying brother trying to predict my future with my hand in his.
"Ce, what took so long? this is our 3rd cab. I don't think you notice it's 1 am, getting a cab isn't easy " Sillias huffed, annoyed at me. "excuse you? you try dragging this drunk conehead around, I'm not a giant like you." I really wasn't in the mood for talking since I felt like I was in an airtight bag with 2 people suffocating me. screw small cabs, jeez. The rest of the car ride went in silence with the occasional instruction from Sillias giving the driver directions.
We roll over near my place in a surprising 15-minute drive, Sillias paid the cabbie and we all scrambled out, surprisingly enough, B woke up too. Not ' i could run a marathon, catch me if you can' kinda woke up. more like the ' ugh take me to my bed you peasants' kind of woke up. in short, she was barely walking but I helped her with Sillias helping my barely awake brother walking a few steps behind me since I had the flat key's. quietly sliding it in, we all tiptoed into my living room careful not to wake my mother up.
"um, Cierra, Can I stay over? I would take a cab home but it's really late and-" I cut him off "of course you're staying over there was never a question dumbass." He gave me a grateful smile before helping my waddling brother to his bed. meanwhile, I took off both mine and B's shoes and dumped her on my bed before plopping in myself.
she has a lot of explaining to do.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sun is not my friend. Period.
School was out of the question, I didn't even bother setting an alarm for it. I felt as if a thousand nails were being pierced through my skull with mini monkeys running around my head screaming "MAYDAY! MAYDAY!"
The sun crept in on me like at the beginning of every horror movie ever, Making me regret not just leaving my brother back at the party with his nursery rhyme concert. 10:00 am, I rolled out of bed to still see an asleep Bianca snuggling 'my' cupcake pillow. not gonna lie, it took me a couple of seconds to fight the urge of snatching it from her. Convincing myself that actually moving was an essential aspect of life I sluggishly get dressed and keep a Tylenol with a glass of water for each of the drunk teenagers in the apartment. Moving towards the kitchen, I made myself a plate of pancakes before plopping myself on the island and totally not staring at the huge figure sleeping peacefully on the couch.
I swear I'm not a creep.
Hey, don't go judging me here okay? He's my brother's best friend. I'm a little sister to him so hold your horses before your dirty Lil minds jump to conclusions.
He just looked so peaceful in his sleep I couldn't help it. His short honey-brown hair stuck to his forehead as he shifts comfortably. He was pretty tall standing at a solid 6'1, making him tower over, with a muscular but lean body. He had deep bronze skin and warm coca coloured eyes. He was outgoing one of the uncanny duo, they became friends back when we moved here, maybe I was 2? 3?, I remember spending most of my childhood playing around with him and my brother, we were a good trio before they started getting too "cool" for me as soon as they got into middle school, thus, we drifted. We made good memories together though. even if I hated him for a while. I felt myself smile a little, reminiscing.
"You know, staring is creepy."
I could feel the warmth rise up to my cheeks as my eyes widen in embarrassment and I stiffen myself looking anywhere other than him. Ummm so maybe he wasn't really asleep. "Pfft, I'm not staring, I'm praying for whoever you end up marrying, you snore like a whale when you snore, jackass." okay yah that's a lie, He doesn't snore at all but it was amusing to see him in confusion even if it just lasted for a few seconds. "Oh, and how do you know that whales snore?" His eyes shining playfully. "uhh... I have a brother, remember?" He laughed at me and got up, "Did they wake up yet?" he asked as if he suddenly remembered last night's events. For a guy who was even tipsy the night before, he sure was in a preppy mood, especially since he didn't even use that Tylenol.
"Well, Ma's gone, probably for work. I messaged Bianca's parents telling them she's sleeping over but both Adi and B are still very much passed out and gonna have a fit when they wake up all cranky." I state as if I were reading it off the checklist in my head. Sillias nodded at me and went towards Adi's room probably to go freshen up.
I was almost done with my pancakes by the time he reemerged, acknowledging his presence, I hold eye contact with him before focusing back on my plate of deliciousness only to have Sillias take my fork and finish the last bite.
Squinting my eyes at him I take my fork back from his hand and poke him with it. "You sir. owe me a pancake," I stated as a matter of fact. "I'll get you whatever after you feed me. I'm a hungry bean right now." since he did help me out a lot last night I got up and dusted myself off. "- and how many pancakes would you like sir?" I asked in a tremendous British accent.
Can I be considered a semi morning person?
"This many!" Sillias exclaimed showing 10 of his fingers up. I looked at him, no, I stared at him for a good 5 seconds blankly.
"Yeah, no."
"What? why? I'm a growing boy, I need my food to grow."
"You grow any bigger you're gonna hit the ceiling when you walk."
"That's what she said."
I stood in front of him, the island between us. I looked at him and wondered what is the probability of me being able to shove him into a garbage truck. Quite speechless and awkward, not knowing how to reply to him, I say, "Um. ok."
Looking pleased with my uncomfortable state, Silias sits down victoriously on the high chair, hand on his chin, before watching me make him a batch of pancakes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As much as Silias wanted to stay and annoy the shit out of Adi when he woke up, he got a call from his boss asking him to cover a sick employee's shift. Being the tryhard that he is, he left around an hour back, leaving me to deal with two crack headed teenagers on my own.
so here I am, sitting on the same kitchen counter for the past 2 hours slurping away to my coffee while finishing off old assignments. Scrunching my nose in disgust I stare back at my words and groan before deleting everything and starting over.
school sucks.
A few minutes of suffering and racking my head to concentrate, I gave up, closing my laptop and mentally taking a note to complete my assignments off before the next deadline. yeah, 'cause you're actually gonna do it then.
I got up and went to my room just in time to see a groggy B rub her eyes, a look of confusion floods over her face when she realises where she is for a second before wincing and holding her head in her hands.
"fuck fuck fuck, I-...what happened last night? and do you have aspirin or something? my head is killing me. "
Seeing that this probably wasn't the best time to interrogate my best friend, I sigh before handing her the painkiller, settling myself on the bed next to her. Bianca wasn't usually like this, she was the mature one between us. I'm not saying she hasn't gotten drunk before but what happened last night...that was a side of Bianca I've never witnessed in my 17 years of knowing her. she usually has her drinking under control. Between us, I was always the one who would end up drinking until I pass out. It was simply really unexpected situation at hand.
Her hair was a mess, eyes rimmed red from the constant rubbing and she genuinely seemed..frustrated, lost even? mad at herself for some reason. it hurt me to see her like this.
"pancakes for breakfast?" I asked in her in a light tone, placing my hand on B's shoulder making sure I'm not too loud. "with hot chocolate?" she asks me, giving hopeful eyes.
