We made our way out of the remainder of the forest, slowly closing in on Sunset Town. Nera was practically glowing, and Yumi was teasing her for it. I'm glad they got so close already.
"It isn't that they are close, Syrus. It's that they both want you to be happy with them. I'd be the same way if I had a body."
I laughed in my head.
"I guess you're in love with me too?"
"Erm... not exactly. Don't get me wrong, you're a very pretty elven male, but uh... I'm not just in it for the looks. Remember, I'm literally a ball of electricity. Though... your personality makes me tingly."
Lilly's voice trailed off as I closed in on the girls ahead of me. Yumi stepped aside, allowing me to stand between them.
"Before we go in, there is something you should know. As it appears you aren't fully aware of what goes on outside of that horrid village you lived in, you probably don't know that we will be heavily looked down upon in this kingdom."
"How badly?"
"Slavery, badly. Our kind isn't welcome. It's a human kingdom after all. Rasswell was never kind to those that look like us."
I instinctively touched my ears. They were farther back than Nera's, but seemed to be barely further back than Yumi's. But this tells me that elves are in slavery in this kingdom.
"So how do we show we aren't slaves?"
"Well we don't have any masters, nor slave marks, besides us being loyal to you. We aren't your slaves, though we are your women."
She winked in a flirty fashion as I slid my hand over my eyes.
"Hush Yumi, I'll deal with that matter some other time. We need to find a way to make money, or else this venture to be the Dark King isn't gonna take off."
Yumi hung onto my arm, pressing against me as best as she could while we walked.
"There is a small adventurers guild here. Nothing to write home about, but they get plenty of quests from nearby villages and the like. Plus, if you get some renown, you'll be known in other cities and towns. It'll make it easier for you to find work later on."
Nera, who had been silent the entire time, wrapped her arms around my free arm. She was blushing slightly, showing how she was still unable to fully express her feelings.
We finally entered the town, causing a few people to look over in curiosity at the new arrivals. There didn't seem to be any guards watching the gates, but there were lookouts posted above. They were gazing off into the forests and plains surrounding the town.
Sunset wasn't very big, but it outmatched Autumn Village in an instant. It was quite a beautiful place, if you could ignore the massive amount of disgusted stares pointing our way.
"I guess we really aren't welcome here. Oh freaking well."
