The professor grabbed his chalk and set it upon the board. With a slight squeak, the glyphs for {Spell} and {Cast} were written. The teacher turned around to lecture the class.
"What is known as spell casting to everyone, and what you have learned so far this year, is not, in fact, actual spell casting. A chant to activate a spells little more than us humans using our words to visualize the effect of a spell. A true spell casting is written in glyphs, and carved into a summoning circle. Compared to the ability of the visualizations, a true spell is infinitely more powerful."
Deja was surprised at this. He knew that the teleport circles were powerful, due to the massive explosion of mana that he got after absorbing some of the leftover energy into his body. '[System]? What is the comparison of Calamity level skills to a Glyph circle?' The system, for the first time since Deja's reincarnation, hesitated.
[What does Deja want to know about the comparison]
'I would prefer to know what the power comparison is.' Deja tuned out the rest of the class while the [System] calculated the difference in power between the two different types of abilities.
"Mr. Vos? Can you answer the question?"
Deja snapped back to reality.
"What?"
"I had asked if anyone knew the chant for a basic beam."
"Oh! uhmm... is it ᒷリᒷ∷⊣||, ⎓╎∷ᒷ?"
"Very good. Now, even though the basic chant is ᒷリᒷ∷⊣||, ⎓╎∷ᒷ, any chant will work, as long as you visualise it correctly. Even Ivamonese can be used. Watch; Energy, Condense. Bolt"
A blue beam was emitted from his palm, flying into the wall and leaving behind a large scorch mark.
Everyone in the class gasped. Everyone that is, except for Deja. The professor turned back to the class and saw that Deja was looking on without interest at the demonstration. Annoyed, he called out Deja's name.
"Mr. Vos? Would you like to come up and try to do what I just did?"
The question startled Deja. He knew he could, but he did not want to over exert his power, to decrease the chance of being found out. However, he also knew based on the professor's expression that he wasn't getting out of this easily. He quickly asked the system; '[System], what are the odds of being found out to be a God-killing class if I do what the professor is asking?' Quickly, the [System] responded to the query.
[The chance of being found out after performing a visualization cast is .001%, due to Deja's reputation as a "Prodigy". Deja can also do this due to skill {Silent Cast}. Deja can also use one word phrases to the same effect]
Deja saw how safe the option was, so he nodded yes to the professor's question. He was beckoned up to the front of the class. "Alright, show us what you can do". The professor sounded smug, believing that the only one who could do what he had just shown in the class would be the school favorite, Engrin, who had awakened to his magic 4 years before most. Seeing this, Deja smirked. He pointed his hand at the same area the prof. had already shot, and recited;
"Condense. Bolt"
A greenish beam was emitted from his palm, striking the same area that was hit by the professor, and darkening the already burnt wall. The class was speechless. Deja turned to the class quietly, and cheekily said "I have good control of my magic, it's just not that powerful..." Jaws dropped. Due to the fight a few weeks before, Deja was thought of as weak. But thanks to the skill displayed just now, the students saw that he just didn't get a chance to show his true abilities. Or so they though, as unbeknownst to them, the boy who had just blown everyones minds, was also the first human able to use a god killing spell/skill.
----------
Deja walked back to his seat, and quietly sat there for the rest of the period. Due to the excitement, Deja had forgotten about the [System]'s calculations of which was stronger between a calamity class skill and a Glyph circle.
'[System], is the test finished?'
[Yes. And due to Deja's current skill level, a Glyph circle is more powerful. However, if Deja were to reach level 20, the levels of power would be the same]
Deja was very surprised at this. Thanks to the professor's lecture, he realized just how weak he was compared to a master wizard. Even if he could beat the wizard themselves, If he were to walk into a trapped circle, he would be stuck until someone let him out. He decided to head back to his dorm after his next class and train in his mental space.
----------
*clang*clang*clang*
The bell tower let loose a torrent of loud rings as the school day came to a close. While all the other students were rushing away to their friends or family, Deja was calmly walking back to the student dorms. "Hey!! Wait up!!!" Gasping, Harfyr ran to catch up to Deja. "Where are you going?" Deja turned his head, "To the dorms to meditate for a bit, why?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to come to dinner with me and my friends..."
Deja turned back to the front and sped up. "No, but thank you for trying to include me."
With Deja's current speed Harfyr was left in the dust.
----------
Harfyr turned around and started to run the other way, when he felt something fall out of his pocket. He looked down and saw a little vial of a bluish tinted liquid. "Can't lose you, little one. I still need you help, just later than I thought."
----------
Deja flung the door to his dorm wide open. Seeing that Engrin was in the room, he just kept quiet and sat down on his bed. Unfortunately, Deja couldn't seem to escape Engrin's wrath.
"Hey Twerp, this should be obvious, but I can't have you in MY room."
Deja tiredly responded, "If you don't like the arrangement, complain to the headmaster. Now please keep quiet, I want to rest."
Seeing that the antagonizations from Engrin had stopped, Deja laid down.
'[System], initiate training. Set to level 20.'
[Initiating]
And just like that, Deja felt his consciousness leave his body, and travel far, far away.
