Hey! It's Is3kai again. This chapter's title is different because its setup is a little different, just a quick chapter of Deja settling back in to school. Thanks for reading!
----------
After the events of the previous afternoon, Deja had gone to the temporary dorms the school had set up for the few remaining first years after the attack. Int turns out that over half of the total first year students had died in that attack, and half of the remainder had been pulled home. Out of the once 1000 students in the first year, there were only about 150 left. This massive intake of knowledge had shorted out Deja's brain, giving him a headache. Laying on his bed, Deja dozed off, only to be abruptly awakened due to someone pouring ice cold water onto his head. Deja scrambled out of bed, only to find his aggressor to be Engrin and a few other students. In the past few weeks, Engrin had built up a following that ate up his lies about all of what happened being Deja's fault.
"Hey Twerp, it looks like you wet the bed!'
Deja turned to look at the bed and saw the water forming a puddle on his bed.
"Since you wet the bed, that obviously means you're a child, one that shouldn't be here. Go home!"
The rest of his crowd threw jeers at Deja.
"GO HOME!"
"We don't want you here!"
"Cursed brat!"
Deja sighed, and pushed past the students blocking him.He had gotten used to the constant jeering of this group and payed them no mind. Eshanaya was waiting for him outside.
"I don't know why you just take it! I mean, if you just showed a little of your pow-"
"Not gonna happen. Again, I want my abilities to stay secret. No one can know."
And with that, Deja walked off, leaving Eshanya agape.
----------
Eshanya didn't understand Deja's decisions. If she had his immense power, she wouldn't let anyone push her around. Yet here Deja was, just letting them run their course and not giving them any attention. She sighed.
'I don't get how you do it Deja. But I can't let it go.'
She chased after the group of boys.
----------
Deja wondered toward the school, pondering the last few weeks events. All he wanted to do was get an education, but he had been forced to try to kill a friend, and lost his arm. Even for someone like him, a person who had already died, it was a lot. Deja stretched his arm. a sharp pain shot through his left shoulder. Deja winced. He grabbed his shoulder, and kept walking towards the classrooms.
----------
He sat down in his seat, and felt a sharp sting from his seat. He ignored it and continued on with his day. He turned to the window, only to notice Engrin glaring at him. He stared back blankly, and just turned back to the front of the class. The teacher had long since given up on trying to capture Deja's attention, due to him seeming to know the answer to all of his questions. Deja laid his head on his desk, and nodded off for the rest of class, only to be awoken by the ringing bell. He hopped up from his seat, and decided to head back to the temporary dormitories. He hiked up his bag, and slowly trudged back to his room. While walking, he quickly brushed his behind, nocking off the many pins that had glued themselves to him. Along the way, Deja heard his name called out from somewhere behind him.
"DEJA!"
He turned and saw Engrin running at him.
"Hey twerp! Why don't we have a rematch," Engrin grinned menacingly. "You beat me, I'll tell you where your friend went."
"Where my friend went?"
"Yeah, that girl who always seems to be waiting for you outside. What was her name? Eshanya?"
Deja's heart plummeted. He knew based on her actions that she thought she should seek vengeance for him after all he had been put through, but he didn't believe that she would go through with it.
"Fine. Let's do this."
"Oh no, not here. Let's go somewhere more... private."
'Fine by me. Probably works best for me anyways. Hey [System], are you back online?'
[Yes Deja.]
'Generate the {Aura Detection} skill.'
[Generated. Anything else?]
'That will be all. {Aura Detection}!'
Instantly, Deja noticed the auras of all those around him. Engrin's was a a white, but there was a slight red aura surrounding him. Looking around, Deja noticed that within the small crowd passing by them, about four others had similar red auras. As Engrin and Deja passed those few people, they started trailing him. He turned to Engrin.
"It's only you and I fighting, right?"
Engrin let out a slight snicker. "Sure, just you vs me."
"Then you might want to tell your boys to back off."
"Wha- you- how did you know?"
"Saw them following us. I just assumed."
"Fine." He raised his voice. "Back off guys. This one's mine."
The four following them backed off, and let Deja and Engrin get into the little hidden area. Engrin turned to Deja.
"Head over to the other corner."
"If I win, You'll tell me what you did to Eshanya, right?"
"Sure."
"Alright."
Even though Deja had little to no attachment to Eshanya, she knew about his powers. He had to pick up her slack, so his secret wouldn't get out.
'[System], can I generate skills that can wipe certain parts of a persons brain?'
[No. However, there is a skill that allows one to erase memories from the past 10 minutes.]
'Got it. Make that.'
[Understood. Generated skill {Recent Memory Wipe}]
'Alright!.'
Deja turned too Engrin. He sighed, took off his bag and coat, and set himself up in a fighting stance. Breathing deeply to calm himself, Deja balanced himself, and took a few practice punches into the air. He smirked at Engrin.
"Alright, let's do this."
