Deja laid in bed, eyes closed, and listening intently to the sounds around him. Based on the information he had gathered over the last couple hours, it seemed that the three people he had saved, Engrin and the two girls, would swap out watching over him. Engrin would be quietly complaining to himself whenever he had to watch over Deja. Eshanya, one of the two girls who he had saved with Engrin would swap in every 2 hours, leaving right when the third girl came in. The last one was a bit different. Even with all of Deja's focus on this one task, he never figured out her name, due to it never being spoken. He gathered his thoughts.
'Alright, if I were to wake up... I mean, when I wake up, it should probably be when Engrin is out of the room. Luckily for me, Engrin is on duty right now, so I should be able to get up fairly soon.'
"Engrin! It's time to switch!"
'Speak of the Devil. Alright, I probably have 5 minutes before Engrin leaves, so I might as well think up something to say when the time comes.'
Lost in thought, Deja didn't notice when Engrin left, leaving him and Eshanya alone. However, he was startled when he heard a sing song voice in his ear.
"I know you're awa-ake"
Deja opened his eyes, and grinned slightly. He held up his hands, or rather hand, above his head.
"Alright, you got me. How did you know?"
Eshanya grinned, a small twinkle in her eyes.
"I don't know, I've always been good at reading people. It's a gift!"
Deja's eyes focused, and he got a better view of Eshanya. The twinkle he thought he saw was actually miniature stars in the pupils of her eyes. It was weird. He had seen a lot of weird things in the past 10 years, but this took the cake. 'Hey [System], what is up with her eyes? The little mark seems a bit to close to an Uchiha's sharingan.'
[Eshanya has the {Sauite Star}, a latent skill that allows one to see through any illusion. However it seems she can't use it fully yet]
'Holy shit! It is a sharingan. Blatant plagiarism there, huh [System].'
[Th- hmm. I- no. I guess?]
Deja blinked. He hadn't expected that response out of the [System]. It sounded a bit more human than usual. He decided to ask about it later. Pushing the incident to the back of his mind, Deja decided to ask Eshanya about her eyes, seeing if she had known about them.
"Hey. Eshanya?"
Eshanya turned back to Deja.
"Yeah?"
"What's up with your eyes? It's like you have little stars in there."
"I don't know. I've had them forever. I've tried to keep them hidden, due to people calling me a freak."
"A freak?"
"Ever since I was born, I could kind of see a colorful aura surrounding people in relation to their power. And on that note, your aura is different. It's a color I've never come across before."
"What do you mean?" Deja started to sweat. He thought his {Perfect Energy Control} could stop him form seeming different, but it was just his luck to run into this girl.
"Your aura is a color i've never seen before. It's... weird."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Most people's auras are rarely uniform. white for a beginner, lime for martialist, and a deep crimson for elementalist tier. But yours is weird. Its all three colors plus a golden layer at the edge? It's... hard to explain."
Deja shot up from the bed, and leaned over to Eshanya. "Hey Eshanya, can you do me a favor?"
Eshanya looked confused. "Sure..?"
"Never, and I mean, Never, tell anyone about my aura or what you saw here. I may be 'Powerful' but I'm not the strongest being on this plane, and I don't want people coming after me. So please, tell absolutely no one!"
"Ok."
"Just like that? No need for anything else?"
"Nope"
"Huh."
"..."
Deja swung his legs over the edge of the bed.
"I guess it's time to go say hello to everyone, huh."
"Yep."
Using Eshanya as a crutch, Deja stumbled out of the infirmary. Asking Eshanya to lead him to the headmaster, they hobbled slowly away.
----------
Hearing a knock on the door, the Headmaster strolled to the entrance of his office. Taking a look out the window, he saw Deja and Eshanya standing in front of his door. Hurriedly, he threw open the door. Steadying himself, the headmaster took a deep breath, and greeted his guests.
"Hello! I see Deja woke up."
Eshanya was the one who returned the headmasters greetings.
"Hey! Yeah, he's awake now."
"Good! Good. Deja, do you remember what happened?"
"Yeah, I do. Why?"
"Can you explain to us what happened?"
"Sure... It was a fairly average day. I was using mediation to put me in a trance to help build mana. Nothing really happened until I heard an explosion. Pushing me out of my trance, I found my room covered in grime, crimson blood puddles almost everywhere. the pungent smell of blood was in the air, so I followed it down. Finding myself on the 2nd floor, I heard a scream, so I ran toward it. The room it had come from was in the center of the floor, soI bolted as fast as I could. Arriving there, I saw Eshanya, Engrin, and one other girl tied up in a triangle shape. Engrin was bloodied and bruised, while Eshanya was missing an arm. The only one who had no injuries that I could see was the other girl. All of the sudden, I had felt a chill, so I jumped out of the way, only to have the area I was in to be stabbed with a silver blade. I looked at who tried to stab me and saw Harfyr. seeing me dodge, He drank some sort of serum and instantly attacked me, with one attack blowing my arm off, and then drilling a hole threw all the walls to the outer side of the building. I decided to grab them and get out of there, so I cast a speed spell, the only one I know, to help me get them out of the room. I ran, arriving at your place before collapsing. Thats all I can remember."
"Ok. I'll have a chat with some other teachers, and tell them what you told me."
