Chapter 29 - Pressure

"Team Beta reporting: We're close to your current location. Expect us to join you in less than five minutes."

"Good. What about the other teams?" Lia was calming herself down slowly and had to get a hold of their current situation. Kashura were scary creatures.

"Team Delta currently in the middle of a forest. We will join you soon too." - "Team Alpha still has a long way to go. Unfortunately it will take us longer than 15 minutes to arrive. Please hold on and continue without us for now."

"Alright. Stay safe everyone."

She focused on what was going on now again.

Kizou approached her with a map in his hands. "I may have come up with a strategy and found out the Kashura's current location." He said while unfolding the map and showing it to Lia.

"Team Alpha said they haven't encountered a single beast where they were. Their previous location was the north of Biurde. And what could possibly be there? A huge river and the entrance to the ''other side''."

"Ohh, I think I get what you're trying to say", she said pointing at a point on the map. "So if the north is so dangerous no somewhat intelligent monster would dare to even come close to the ''other side''. With that being the case the Kashura are probably heading here from this direction which would also mean..."

Kizou hadn't took this into consideration. "Team Alpha is still in danger!"

They both said it at the same time and Lia had to report what they found out just now to all the forces. "Operation Lead Team reporting: Team Alpha come here as quick as possible and observe your surroundings carefully. The Kashura may be near you already!"

"Understood. We're going to take a different route from now on. It will take us even longer now though - what do you say captain?"

She looked at Kizou and who shaked his head. "Don't. It's too dangerous. Just come here as quickly as possible."

"Got it. Everyone, run as fast as you can!"

With that Team Beta finally arrived at the gathering point.

"We're back. Have you decided on anything yet?"

"Not really. We have only figured out the Kashura's location at the moment but will continue coming up with a reliable plan right away. Glad your team is doing well Don."

Lia had a relieved smile on her face and shook hands with Don. "Thank you captain. If we can help you out in any way please let us know."

He stepped away to his comrades who went to take a small break.

Suddenly the guy with the M4 started shooting into the air. Everyone was alarmed immediately.

"What's wrong Yoru?!!" Celeste shouted and prepared her cannon. "They're coming."

"Team Delta where are you?! Give us a status report immediately!"

"We're still on our way although we can see you from afar. Hang in there!"

Lia mumbled something and picked up her weapon. Instead of her katana she now held a sniper rifle in her hands. Kizou searched for one of his devices in his backpack and Celeste was watching the sky.

Team Beta was preparing too.

Just a few seconds later it all finally began. Kashura were filling the sky and their growl was a loud one. Those creatures had giant wings and the body similar of a dragon. Well, they came pretty close to being a dragon. But they weren't capable of spitting fire.

Celeste was the first one to notice something was off. "Watch out, everyone split up and get away from each other as much as you can!!"

No one questioned her words and just did as told. Thousands of needles were coming down from the sky in incredible speed. Instead of spitting fire Kashura used their wings to let it rain sharp projectiles.

The reason these monsters were so incredibly strong didn't lie within their wings though. Their body was incredibly thick and not even tanks could pierce through. Then the physical strength and stamina Kashura had was unbelievable.

And to top it all off their mere breath with a range of almost 20 meters was able to kill anyone who was breathing it in.

Truly overpowered creatures.

Lia ran away as far as she could to search for an optimal spot. The sniper she was carrying around this time was a 80mm round tank piercer. This thing only had limited amount of ammunition and whoever used it carried around almost 40 kilograms. As its name suggested it was able to pierce through a whole tank. In some cases you could also destroy the armored vehicle.

Kizou had to retreat to another safe area to contact the headquarters and come up with something.

Yoru ran off for a bit until the needles were out of reach and shot the Kashura with another enhanced rifle. Celeste was helping him out.

Team B split up as well but their current whereabouts remained unknown.

In total nine Kashura were up in the air but there was a big chance those weren't all. Lia had her suspicions. "Team Alpha and Deta, where are you right now?! Are you alright?"

"Team Delta here, we're joining battle now." Indeed. They were about one kilometer apart from Lia. "Team Alpha is currently getting attacked by Kashura. We've already lost two people and can't do anything except run. We may not make it out of here alive..."

Loading the sniper rifle Lia got nervous. She had eight rounds. If she misses more than two their chance of survival shrinks to 12%.

Ronald. I know you have it hard there but hang on. You and your group won't die today!"

Taking a long and heavy breath she peeked through the scope and aimed at her target. She had to be as calm and still as possible to kill her enemy.

'You got this...' Aiming at her target perfectly and being as calm as one can be the projectile left the rifle and pierced through the air with lighting speed.

The next thing you could hear was a Kashura dropping down to the ground with half its body blown away.

Eight monsters remaining.
