The following days tons of funerals have been held in Legrandeus and unfortunately they couldn't go to Lia's.
After sitting around in the hotel for a week straight not doing anything they felt way better but their bodies lacked movement. While Eguru was on his way to be fit again Verzo still had to recover for a couple more months.
[System announcement: Journey to become stronger: 107 days, 16 hours and 46 minutes left]
'Just how far can I get in a bit more than three months?...'
He knew he had to go through intense training and a ton of hardships to overcome given task. As he felt kind of fit again he started working out.
His goal was to do fifty to seventy pushups, one hundred squats and one hundred sit ups a day for five times a week having two days off. Later on he could make six out of seven days a week.
He would've added more to his workout but his current condition didn't allow him to do so. Another thing that came to his mind was this world's language. Was there any way he could pursue studying it in this city? And what is it actually called?
Never had he ever heard the name of the actual language. It was time to find out.
Getting out of room 216 he told Verzo about his plans and went to the receptionist. He then was told the directions to a library not too far away from the hotel. Unfortunately this hotel didn't have any kind of place for books.
The streets in Akuta were lively and looked way more pieceful than in Legrandeus. Everything was full of color and people were already preparing for the upcoming festival. All kinds of decoration already was hanging around the city. Kind of like traditional japan from his world.
After following the paths he had been directed to go along he indeed found a library. It was way smaller than the one in Legrandeus but that didn't bother him. He'd take almost anything with him.
After looking around for a while a book covered in dust stood out the most. Freeing the book from dirt and dust he looked at the front page. On that cover was a king covered in blood sitting on his throne, while his crown was shattered to pieces.
"Ta'ales de regge invikta" was the name of the book. Eguru didn't know what it meant. 'Ohh, I almost forgot about that! I wanted to find out this language's name!'
Going through all the different categories he found a section titled "lingaug" which meant "languages". Looking around he found all sorts of weird languages. "Akkuz", "Lepridiuluy", "Quewu" and more.
But as the names only didn't help him out he actually had to go through some pages to see if it was the correct language. After paging through all sorts of books Eguru finally found what he looked for.
"Dev'rortr" as the books calls it. It's also called "the language of wisdom" for some reason. He didn't really think the language was full of wisdom. Or did this actually mean something else?
To him it didn't matter as he finally found what he searched for. Not only did he discover this book about the king but he could also continue learning "Dev'rortr" now. 'Hold on... How do I even borrow things here? I'll just go ask I guess'
A good fifteen minutes later he came out of the librabry with two bundles of paper. Talking to the librarian was a bit more difficult as he thought especially since he didn't speak in their language for some time. His strange accent wasn't unnoticed at all.
Coming back to the hotel Eguru found Verzo scrolling through his phone. "What are you doing?"
"I'm just watching some videos. There's this app for short clips and most of it is just cringe stuff. Still use it though because it's good to waste time and maybe find something interesting here and there."
"Ah, I see. By the way I've found two books! One to continue learning ''Dev'rortr'' and another one titled ''Ta'ales de rigge invikta''", he gave Verzo both of them so he could take a look. "I've never heard about this one before, the tales of the invincible king, huh? I'm pretty sure this is a book about our current leader." He opened a random page at the beginning of the book. "Yeah.. This book is over two hundred years old and this might be one of the only copies left in Raiherd. How did you even fin-"
"Two hundred years old?! And this is about Raiherd's current king??" Eguru cut him off as he didn't quite believe what Verzo just said. The other man closed the book again and handed it over to Eguru. "Err, this is a complicated story. No one really knows how he got that old and still is ruling this continent. It also is a mystery as to how he still looks like he is in his thirties. Some people believe he is immortal. I've got no clue man."
In disbelief Eguru took a look at the book himself. "I guess I have to start reading to find out, huh."
