Chapter 34 - A King's Tale

Eguru sat down on his bed cross-legged and opened the first page.

[The following book tells a tale about Raiherd's seventh king Nizhalgal...

Chapter 1: Waste of breath.

It all began around eleven years ago. Nizhalgal was only seventeen at that moment and just barely survived the fifth great world war. His entire family was recklessly murdered and the young man was discovered in a cave where he had been surviving for a whole month hunting and cooking on his own. The people that found him though were by no means friendly. It were remaining enemy soldiers which continued to slaughter every foe on sight. Nizhalgal sure was still a child but has been going under hard training and definetely wasn't bad at fighting for his life.

Barehanded and with not much energy left he faced the soldiers trying to kill him. It were about seven or eight and everyone kept a sword, hammer, axe or a spear. During this rather short battle he killed half of them, disarmed the rest and put them into a condition no one would easily recover from. But unfortunately our young man had also lost his left, preferred, arm. As his situation was already bad it only got worse. Since the war just ended there wasn't much food left for him. Even the animals around him weren't there anymore. Everything was destroyed and only small fragments of land were free from blood or corpses. Having lost everything he struggled to keep himself alive... At this point he was a worthless human being with no home or chance of survival. A waste of breath which should just give up.

However, he kept going. He tried everything to not face death no matter what he had to do. Nizhalgal even killed people who were minding their own business because they had some food and water. Lively cities were now ghost-towns and entire villages were erased from existence. More than half of Raiherd's population was wiped out and faced a fatal loss...]

Eguru continued reading the backstory of Nizhalgal and soon got to the point where everything got out of hand. Another war had begun and this time was single-handedly stopped by Nizhalgal. Out of the blue he got unbelievable powers no one else had a chance against. This also was the moment he became the king of Raiherd and the strongest man alive. Mankind was saved. But it didn't end there.

[Chapter 3: The incident.

It's the third month of Nizhalgal's appearance as the king and this also was the most questionable one. His powers kept growing and even an entire army wouldn't be able to harm him anymore. He went to another kingdom called Zerag to hold an important meeting with other authorities. His strong presence though had everyone nervous and even anxious. It was as if a monster was talking to them. Some authorities went crazy and started attacking him but in just a split second all them disappeared into nothingness. Nizhalgal only had to snap with his finger. People that saw his powers stated that black smoke was quickly emitting from his snapping which caused them to disappear. No one really knew what has happening and who Nizhalgal was or how he got these powers. The only thing everyone knew - he was without a doubt - The Strongest.

He himself never talked about his powers. Even though he was only ruling Raiherd for a couple of months everyone learned to respect him. He was a warm-hearted man from the very beginning only wanting the best for his country. Never did he bring chaos or destruction above his folk. Not only was he strong but he also was kind. He didn't act like a king most of the time. Even years later.]

'So this is the king of Raiherd, huh? The author mentioned the appearance of black smoke when he made the people disappear.. I wonder if this has to do something with the system and Devourers.'

Eguru decided to take a break from reading and ate something. After that he worked out. He only had a bit more than three months remaining which definetely wasn't much.

In the evening he watched some videos about the games this world had to offer and what kind of specs the pcs here had. Soon, he fell asleep.

Three days from now on the festival would begin. Both, Eguru and Verzo hoped they could participate but it didn't look too good for his friend. He still wasn't able to walk or stand properly which was a huge problem. "The festival goes on for a month, right? Do you think you could walk in around three weeks?"

"I don't really know man. My body doesn't really hurt anymore but it's just not able to do the things it should be able to. It's a pain in the ass honestly. We also have to extend our stay in this hotel. Don't forget to do that next week."

"Yeah I won't forget it. By the way... Could it be that there's a console in the living room?" He pointed at it.

"Oh, yeah! Wanna check what games we got?" - "Sure." Hours went by as they spent their time gaming almost all day.
