Chapter 37 - New look

Another week has passed and Eguru still didn't quite understand why people enjoyed the festival so much. Most of it wasn't very enjoyable until now and the only thing Eguru looked forward to was meeting new people. On the other hand he did like the shops that were opened during the last two days of the first week.

They offered a bright variety of things like candy, whole meals, burgers, soft drinks, beer, wine and much more just for the event's sake. Now, of course those weren't just normal kinds of foods and drinks. Everything that was offered was made for one purpose: Being way better than any kind of food or drink one could imagine. It was like you'd get to experience the food of famous cooks for cheap yet you'd savour every bite.

And Verzo had the same opinion on this matter. Eguru obviously didn't only enjoy himself during the festival. He did bring Verzo a lot of stuff to enjoy.

Now, a week later something wonderful happened. Verzo's legs finally let him walk around for longer than just a few steps. "Dude, how do you feel?"

Verzo completely ignored him and went outside. 'What does he plan on doing?' He followed him. Two minutes later they were standing outside and Verzo made a face of someone seeing a ghost. "This sure isn't good man. I've noticed something while you were out yesterday and I peeked outside the windows. Legrandeus guards are basically taking over Akuta. Just how important was the person I accidentally took down??"

"I don't know, we should start changing your looks if you want to stay here for longer though. We also don't know for how long you're able to walk now before your legs give up again so it'd be good if we didn't waste our time now." Verzo agreed and they decided to go scout for shops.

The first thing they wanted to do was to get his hair dyed into a different color and change his hairstyle as this would have the biggest impact on his looks. For that they simply went into a normal store and searched for the desired product. Verzo had black hair so changing it to white or blonde was the best option. He chose white. Then, they scouted a few malls for different type of clothes as the guards would surely find out what kind of style he had. Originally he wore fancy streetwear but now they picked up a "normal" black hoodie and black jeans.

After their little tour they went back and avoided the now stacked masses of Legrandeus' guards chilling in Akuta. "Seriously, how many of those do they want to bring in here? They can't just take over a whole city."

"Well, Legrandeus is the most powerful town in Raiherd because of the king residing there. Other cities of course are handling things on their own but if Legrandeus decides to lay hands on someone they can't really do anything about it. That's how much more powerful our force is." Verzo shrugged and Eguru scratched the back of his head.

A few minutes later they arrived at their hotel and saw guards at the counter. They spoke to the receptionist which seemed a little overwhelmed. Verzo went in front of Eguru so the guards wouldn't see him and it worked. As they entered their room the two men immediately started taking care of Verzo's looks. None of them knew how to dye hair correctly but it didn't really matter to them.

There was a small guide on the back of the package so Verzo followed along and Eguru sat down and browsed for fitting hairstyles. In a optimal case the new hair would kind of make his face look different. Maybe a wolf-haircut or bangs would do the job?

Verzo began to laugh out of nowhere. "Dude look at this, I look like a fucking 80 year old man with a middle part!"

Looking at him Eguru broke out in laughter too. "What the fuck, are you sure you're in your twenties??", "Nah man, I didn't age really well. Did you find a hairstyle though?"

"Yeah I did", he replied and got up to show it to him. He looked at it for a second. "Not sure if my hair is long enough for this but it's worth a try."

About three hours later the process was finished. Verzo now had white, spiky-like hair. "Yeeeahh, I gotta get used to it I guess."

Eguru tried not to laugh at him. "At least they're not going to recognize you now. You look a whole lot different man."
