Chereads / Daughter of The Snow Godess / Chapter 4 - The Explanation

Chapter 4 - The Explanation

"Your world is about to become a lot bigger," Evan whispered in my ear.

Then we hopped into the car and rode off.

~~~~~~~
I had so many questions, but Evan began explaining to me how all the gods and goddess were real and that demigods were real. The entire thing was real. I couldn't believe my ears. Was it actually real?
"The 3 elder brothers defeated Kronos... blah blah. Blah blah blah and Olympus started and blah blah. Zeus is god of the sky and king of all gods. Hades is god of the undead and king of the underworld. Poseidon was blah blah blah blah. They have kids with mortals and that makes demigods. Like you... blah blah blah." Explained Evan. The explanation went on and on making it difficult to process everything.
'That can't be possible. It must be some sort of prank,' I thought. 'But would a prank really have a teacher involved. Ms. Sallow was really strict, especially on me. She would never pull a prank.'
Evan saw the look on my face and reassured me that it was going to be okay.
"What do you mean okay? This is all crazy. They are just myths and legends. None of this is real!" I exclaimed.
"Esmeray," Ms. Sallow began, "I know I have given you a hard time in class, but it was really because I expected so much from you."
'Evan probably expected so much of me when he faced that furie and I let him down. I was wondering if I did the same to Ms. Sallow.' I thought.
Pushing the negativity out of my head I asked, "Okay, so your saying everyone has a godly parent. Who is mine?"
I expected an answer straight away, but there was just silence. After a minute of silence, Evan said, "We will tell you once we get to camp."
"Why can't you tell me now since you are explaining all this anyways. This whole demigod, god, and goddess thing makes no sense. Have you guys lot your minds?" I pleaded.
I started to tremble considering what they were saying was true. I felt a chill go up my spine and a harsh pain on my forearm.
I looked at it and marks were beginning to engrave on my skin. "Make it stop!" I screeched trying to push the pain away.
Evan grabbed my wrist and studied what was happening. He poured some more of that honey stuff on it but it wasn't helping.
"That is a mark a god gives you." He said with worry in his eyes.
Ms. Sallow continued to keep her eyes on the rose while I was still yelling in pain.
After around 5 minutes of pain it started to subside. I looked at the mark and it has all bloody and bruised. Evan pulled out some bandages he had in his backpack and wrapped my wrist delicately.
"Esmeray, I know it is all a shock, but you need to trust us. If you stay back at the city, monsters will start to come for you." Said Ms. Sallow.
'Do you how ridiculous you sound saying that,' I thought. I was about to say it out loud but I kept it to myself. 'They really think that I am supposed to believe them right now when they are talking nonsense.'
Again, it was like Evan was able to read my thoughts. "I would totally think this is a joke too, but I wouldn't lie to you over something so serious. These monsters will come for you and hurt the people you care about if you stay. Would you do that to them?"
That is not fair! He was using my emotions against me. Maybe that was my weakness, and his strength is reading minds. 'Oh god, that would be so embarrassing, I have had really weird things go on in my head," I thought.
Then I was starting to wonder about these monsters and what they want. I mean, why would they go for me if there are hundreds of demigods.
"Why are the monsters coming for me?" I asked.
More silence came. They definitely knew something I didn't know. I just couldn't put my finger on it. "Why are you guys avoiding the most basic questions?"
"Well the basic questions have the most complicated answers." Evan exclaimed.
What does he mean by complicated answers? I asked who my mother is and they couldn't say one name? I asked why these monsters were after me and they couldn't answer with one sentence?
I was still questioning weather this was a joke or not, and I started to think that maybe what they were saying was the truth. This is like a story out of a novel, it can't be real.
'But why would they lie about it. Maybe they are telling the truth.' I thought.
Suddenly Ms. Sallow pulled over in the middle of the empty rode. "Okay kids, this is our stop."
