"Okay, well... how about you get to know the place?"
~~~~~~~
"Okay, so Esmeray. This is Lilith. She is the daughter of Aphrodite." Evan said introducing her to me.
Lilith was very beautiful. Her light brown hair complimented her fair skin tone. She had freckles on her face as if she was kissed my the sun. She had really dark eyes, almost close to black but it was actually dark brown.
She gave a shy wave and I waved back. She had a slight look of terror on her face. You could tell she was not comfortable, and I attempted to comfort her.
"I can tell you are nervous. But don't worry. I am harmless." I said.
'But am I really? I can run on walls.' I thought
I wondered if everyone acted this way with newcomers. I suppose it's difficult to trust people who just arrived at your camp.
She smiled, and I think that me reassuring her made her feel more comfortable.
"Okay," she said. "Let's start at the main building."
We walked over in silence and it started to get awkward. She stopped in front of an olive green structure. "This is the main building. If you have an emergency, you will find help in here."
She continued to a field filled with demigods fighting with swords and daggers.
"Wow," I whispered.
Lilith heard and replied, "Ya." She then walked towards the shed I slept next to that night.
"This is the tool shed where you will find your weapon. But you already have one so you don't have to worry about it." She said.
I took the pen out my pocket and started to fiddle with it. I didn't uncap worried that Lilith would get scared.
Her eyes followed my hands when I took the pen out and her breathing started to become faster. I put it back in my pocket and we continued walking in silence. Every so often, Lilith would glance at my pocket were I kept my pen.
She continued the tour walking towards a river
where all the housing was located. "So if everyone has a house according to their godly parent, where is mine?" I asked.
She pointed to a house far away from all the other houses on the river bank to one on a top of a hill. It looked like a white cabin.
I wondered why mine was so far away from all the others. Couldn't they put me closer to everyone else's?
"Hey Lilith," I asked. She jumped when I said her name. "What is my mom the goddess of?
"She is the goddess of Snow."
Goddess of snow? How could everyone be so afraid of me over snow?
"Can you tell me more about her."
"Not now, let's just finish the tour." She looked at me almost as if she felt bad.
I nodded in disappointment. I hoped she realized how isolated I felt not knowing anything about my birth mother. I really just wanted to know who she was. Even though she left when I was a baby, she still gave birth to me. The mixed facial expressions really started to confuse me.
We walked past all the houses. The last one was a huge white marble structure. It was really dusty. "Who stays in there?" I asked.
"A boy named Jake. Son of Zeus." She said with a slight giggle in her voice.
"Where is he?"
"He is on a quest right now. You can meet him once he comes back... If he comes back." She responded with worry in her voice.
I started at her with wide eyes. 'Do people really not come back from these quests?' I asked myself.
She read the puzzled, worried expression on my face, "Don't worry to much about it, he's been on plenty of quests before. He'll be fine." Though her voice was shaky.
She continued on and showed me other structures including where we take classes, the mess hall, and much more.
"So your mom...," I started trying to make small talk. "What is she a goddess of again."
"She is the goddess of love." She said with a shaky voice.
I was still confused why everyone seemed scared of me. Is there some sort of legend they believed in?
"Okay then... I think I showed you everything." She looked relived that she came back in 2 pieces.
"Thank you for the tour." I replied with a warm smile.
Lilith seemed hesitant, opening her mouth but then closing it to reconsider her words. "Just a warning, I would stay clear of Hephaestus' kids." she warned.
"Why?" I asked.
"Hephaestus is the god of fire. And your mother is the goddess of snow..."
"Right," I said knowingly.
Evan approached us with a smile on his face. "I trust that the tour went well."
Lilith nodded and rushed away joining a group of girls who looked like they were gossiping. She whispered something in the group and they all turned to me looking terrified.
I smiled at them and they averted their eyes. I could still see them glance at me ever once in a while and then whispering more things to each other.
I wonder what they thought of me. I was a little disappointed with Lilith, since I did no wrong to her and she still had something bad to say about me. I have never really cared about people's opinions o fame that much. But that is when I had plenty of friends. Now, all I have is Evan.
"Hey Esmeray?" Evan said waving his hands in front of my face. "Are you even listening." I didn't realize Evan was talking to me.
"No sorry," I replied glancing back at the girls.
"Ignore their gossiping. Anyways, like I was saying... I think it is time I tell you about your mother."
