Chapter 14 - A hero returns

Out of no where, a young girl probably the age of 9 came running onto the field. "Hey guys!" She shouted in glee. "Jake is back!"

~~~~~~~
All the campers began running to the front of the camp towards the arch that said Camp Red Arrow. I followed walking at a steady pace.
There was a huge mob in a circle waving and shouting hi. I couldn't see past anyone so I found a tree a little far way from the entrance and climbed it so I could get a good spot to see.
There was a boy and girl there, both looking really rough. They look like they haven't slept in days. The boy who was probably Jake had dirty blonde hair and green or blue eyes. I couldn't tell from the distance. The girl had short red hair and brown eyes.
After getting a good look I climbed down and started walking towards the training grounds.
"Hey you!" Someone shouted.
I didn't turn around thinking it was meant for someone else. As I kept walking, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
Thinking it was Evan, I turned with a fake smile plastered on my face. But I saw Jake standing there. My smile dissipated. 'Gosh he stinks!' I thought curling up my nose.
"Ya I know." He said chuckling. Then he got a good look at me. His face expression started changing. "You look a lot like your mother."
"I have heard." I said.
"My name is Jake." He said extending his arm.
"Rital," I said shaking it.
The crowd starting coming in our direction.
"I should get going," he said. "It was nice meeting you.
"Ya you too," I replied.
I turned around and started walking to the training grounds were some demigods have already returned.
~~~~~~~

After some dueling, I returned to by cabin to wash off. I haven't changed my clothes in 2 days so it felt great to get a fresh pair of jeans on. They gave me a Red Camp Shirt, but decided to wear a long black sleeve shirt instead. This camp didn't really click to me yet. I kept my sword in my cabin but still wanted something I could defend myself with.

I walked over the the weapons shed and looked around for a dagger and a scabbard. I found a copper one that glowed in the small amount of sunlight shining through the door. I grabbed it and felt the grip on it. Satisfied, I put the scabbard around my hip and put my new dagger in it.

I walked out of my cabin towards the mess hall for dinner. I was late so I would have to eat fast.

When I entered, I saw all the tables. Most of Ares and Apollo's children were gathered around Jake while he was telling them stories.

The daughters of Aphrodite were all giggling looking over at Jake. You could tell he was a fan favorite.

People started to notice me and soon the entire mess hall went silent looking at me. I started walking towards the buffet with my head slightly down. Everyone was looking at me scared.

I really started to wish I would fit in. I hated having all these looks of terror and hate on me all the time.

I approached the buffet and most of the kids went back to eating and talking. I thought that maybe they would be used to me already, but I was wrong.

I looked at the options and gaged at the smell. 'Great!' I thought. 'Seafood! The one thing I can't stand!'

I looked down the table and there was only salad that looked appetizing. I grabbed a plate and went towards it. 'Crab salad! Are you kidding me?'

I have never liked seafood, everything about it bothered me. The texture, the taste, the smell, and the look. Nothing about it was appetizing.

I put my plate back down and started walking out of the mess hall. Everyone's eyes began to follow me. Someone from the Ares and Apollo table cat called me, making me extremely uncomfortable.

I charged out of the room and ice began to form underneath my feet.

I walked out of the room and began heading toward my cabin, the only place I can be alone. I felt a gust of wind keep me from walking. I tried to resist it but it was so use, the wind wasn't letting me go anywhere.

I turned around and found Jake standing right behind me. "Where are you going?" He asked with a smirk on his face.

"To be alone." I replied bitterly.

"What about dinner?"

"Not hungry."

"How about we go somewhere?"

"Like what."

"Come on." He grabbed my wrist and we started walking over to the rocky side of the lake shore. In the rocks, there was an opening leading down somewhere.

We started walking down the steps until it was almost pitch black.
