Chapter 15 - Just a Player

"Come on." He grabbed my wrist and we started walking over to the rocky side of the lake shore. In the rocks, there was an opening leading down somewhere.

We started walking down the steps until it was almost pitch black.

Jake picked up a lantern that lit up the entire area. It revealed a small room at the base of the stairs. There was Greek markings all over the walls bringing the room to life. All the walls and the ground was made of rock.

On the floor there was bean bag chairs and a small table. I didn't notice the L.E.D lights installed until Jake pressed a switch to turn it on.

I admired the walls with a smile. I have never been to many places with rich history. The engravings all over the wall made it feel so surreal.

Jake smiled at me seeing the amusement on my face. "You like it?" He asked.

"It is awesome. Do you often come here?"

"Ya, whenever I need to get away."

I brushed my hand on one of the walls. "Did you carve these yourself?" I asked.

"No, I found them here."

I turned around to look at him and our eyes locked together. We store at each other for a few seconds with smiles on our faces. It wasn't awkward, it was just a tender moment.

He broke our eye contact looking behind me.

"What is it?" I asked turning around. Ice started to spread across the wall. "Sorry," I said. I didn't mean for that to happen.

He grabbed my shoulders and turned me towards him. "What makes you summon ice randomly?" He asked with a smirk on his face.

"Normally it happens when I am mad or frustrated."

Jake's smirk faded into a frown.

"Not like I am mad or frustrated!" I blurted our loudly.

The smirk reappeared on his face and he chuckled.

"You aren't like other girls around here."

'He is cute, don't you think.' The voice said in my head. "No." I said.

Evan looked at me confused and I realized he was talking to me.

"I mean, I am just like very one else." I said.

"Not to me your not." He said with a softened voice.

He started to close I'm the distance between us when I heard a growl. I turned towards the stairs and drew my dagger.

The red head I saw with Jake at the front of the camp appeared at the middle of the stair case with a metal dog. "Excuse my Hellhound, I didn't mean to scare you." She said with an ingenue tone.

"Jake, I see you brought down another girl to hookup with." She said giving Jake a seductive glance.

"What?" I asked looking at him.

"Jocelyn, don't s-"

"No Jake, she should know. Ice freak, he is just using you."

My face darkened, not only by the fact that Jake was playing me but that Jocelyn called me an ice freak.

I stood tall and chanted, "First if all, that is not my name. It is Rital. And second of all..." I turned to Jake and adresses him, "I am not going to be played by a cliche."

I actually may have liked him, but I was not going to be used as an object. I trembled at the feeling of betrayal.

I started walking up the stairs when Jake grabbed my wrist. "Rital, don't believe her. I would never-"

"Save it Jake." I said with hurt in my voice.

I continued up the stairs walking past Jocelyn. She gave me a nasty glance but I ignored it. I didn't want to deal with this drama right now.

The sun was already setting by the time I got to the top. I realized that I left a trail of ice behind me making it hard to get up the stairs.

'Serves him right.' I thought walking towards my cabin.

'I never like him anyways.' The voice in my head said. I chuckled wondering who the voice was. "Who are you?" I asked.

But I got no reply. That was fine with me, I didn't want it to talk to me all night. I really just wanted to rest. I got to my cabin and slid on some pajamas they provided.

I know it was early to go to bed, but I didn't want to sleep in too late tomorrow. I have Greek lessons. I started to wish I had my phone or my computer with me so I could go there knowing something.

At the beginning of camp, they said I couldn't have a phone just in case someone tried to track me.

I jumped on my bed and extended my body and curled up into a comfortable position. I started to think about my friends back home and how confused they probably were. I left without am warning and I didn't even say goodbye to them.

They are probably furious with me, which made me upset to know. I pushed out the negative thoughts and focused on the future. Soon, I will hopefully get to visit them and my dad again.

I laid in my bed and let only positively in my head. Within minutes, I was fast asleep.
