Chapter 12 - War games (2)

Evan marched over to his side and looked at me with a smirk on his face. 'He thinks his team will win. Not a chance.' I thought

How to play Winter Prisoner Escape:

On a snowy day, arrange a game of prisoner escape. One player from a large group is designated as the prisoner; the prisoner has five minutes to wander through the snow, and build a hideout in an outdoor space. The prisoner can leave tracks strategically to throw other players off course or build a fortress to protect himself.

After five minutes, all other players begin tracking the prisoner in an effort to capture him. Players must decide whether to stick together or split up.

If the prisoner wins a duel with an advancing player, he or she is out and must return to the start point without giving up any information to other players. If the prisoner manages to eliminate all other players, he or she wins. If the other players are able to capture him without losing a duel, the prisoner loses.

My team began explaining the game to me and I volunteered to be the prisoner because I can manipulate snow.

"Well, do you know how to fight?" One girl asked.

I remembered what happened on the bus and how it was like I knew exactly what to do. "Yes I do."

"Okay then," one of the guys challenged. "Lets see what you got."

He drew his sword and I uncapped my pen.

Without a countdown, he took the first swing at me and I blocked it with my sword. He swung for my head and I ducted down slashing his leg. He held it and had a look of surprise on his face.

This time, I swung at this face and gave him a small slash on his cheek. He started to get frustrated and went aggressive. I ran for the tree and kicked off so I was behind him.

When he turned around I extended my sword to his throat. He backed up putting his sword down. "Okay, you made your voice. I put my sword in my scabbard and turned back to the rest of the group as they started at me in amazement.

"Okay, we found our prisoner," Captain Zach said.

"Okay kids, lets have your prisoners come to the middle of the field." The blonde guy said.

Me and another girl with long red hair walked over.

"That is not fair at all! She can manipulate snow!" The red head exclaimed.

"And you can shadow travel to the flag when playing capture the flag and no one complained." The blonde guy replied.

I looked back at her and we looked eyes. She gave me a stare filled with disgust.

"Okay, 1,2, 3... Your five minutes start... NOW!!"

We and the girl ran in opposite direction. I found an area with plenty of trees to kick off of. I reached my hand over the ground and a wall of ice emerged. 'I am getting good at this.' I thought.

I continued to make my fort until it looked like a real house. I started to make a contraption that would launch balls of ice at approaching players form the blue team.

Once I had 2 loaded catapults, I made a door to enter the fort. I went to my top balcony and realized that it would be best to shot arrows. A way better strategy then hiding out.

I didn't have much time, but I ran to the weapons shed and grabbed a dozen arrows and a bow.

By the time I got back to my fort, a horn was blown and I could hear the battle cries of demigods. I loaded my bow while standing on the balcony. When I saw the first player on the blue team I shot an arrow at his shoulder and he collapsed on the ground still conscious.

I started to regret getting a bow and arrow thinking I might miss and hurt someone badly.

When the rest of them approached my fort, they looked at in awe. 'What were they expecting? I was the daughter of the snow goddess.' I thought with a smile on my face.

I saw some players on my team come to the fort for some reinforcements. I heard the clashes of multiple swords and I started shooting multiple bows at advancing players aiming for there legs. I stayed away from the shoulders just in case I hit them in the chest. Within 2 minutes I was out of arrows.

I got down from the fort and began dueling players form the other team. I didn't lose one fight. Then next to me, someone threw planks of wood.

I thought nothing of it and I kept fighting but then it bursted into flames. The fire encircled me and my skin starting to blister. I collapsed on the ground unable to breath.
