Chapter 7 - Nightmares

Then a miracle happened. A ball of fire began blazing at the guy and he bursted into flames. He started screaming and yelling releasing the grip of my neck.

I gasped for air while Evan hovered over me to make sure I was okay. When I regained some strength, I sat up and saw a silhouette of a guy who was summoning fire from his hand.

The fire faded away and so did my vision. I started to lose consciousness until everything went black.

~~~~~~~
I woke up with the muscles in my body sore. I rubbed my neck and all the memories of what happened came back to me. I brushed my hands against my throat and my body began to tremble.
I started to observe my surroundings and realized I was at a medical hut. It was late at night and you could hear all the crickets and other bugs outside.
I placed my wobbly legs on the ground and began to stand up. My legs felt numb but I kept my balance. My legs soon started to get feeling back to them and I walked past all the other patients.
I didn't know where I should stay or where I should go. Being in that medical hut made me uncomfortable and made me feel uneasy. I found a bench next to a old shed.
I laid on the bench and soon drifted off to sleep.
~~~~~~~

I woke up in my bed gasping for air. 'It was all a dream I said with a smile on my face.'

I couldn't be more relieved that I was back at home, under my warm covers.

I stepped out of my room and ran down the stairs and to give my dad a hug. It was early in the morning so he wouldn't be at work yet even if he had to leave early.

I searched his room but he was gone. I went to the kitchen and living room but he was still no where to be found.

I checked the garage to see if his car was still there, and it was. 'Strange...,' I thought.

I kept looking around the house and realized that my cat Mimi wasn't there. I called for him and he didn't come to me. 'Super strange.'

"RITAL, HELP US!" I heard from the front of the house. I jumped up and ran to the front door.

Confused, I pulled on a pair of shoes and unlocked the front door. Opening it, I couldn't believe my eyes. All the friends and my dad here in the hands for humongous monsters, ones with one eye and are extremely tall and fat. 'No, that was a dream.' I thought. 'There are no monsters.'

I began to tremble at the sight of them and remembered how they almost squeezed the life out of Evan. 'That was just I dream.' I thought.

'HELP US!' My friend Nicole screamed as the monster began to squeeze her. I charged at the monsters, but I wasn't armed. I couldn't do anything.

I tried to punch the legs of the monster but it kicked me away. I tumbled backwards hitting my head hard.

I stood up rubbing my head. 'You can't pass out, you have to save them!' I thought.

Then, the monster dropped Nicole. She laid on the grass pale and lifeless.

"NO!!!" I screamed running to her.

I had her body in my arms, but it was too late. She was gone. I began to cry and the rest of my friends began to speak in unison.

"This is what happens when you decided to stay home. The monsters found us and are going to kill us. It is all your fault," They chanted.

I looked at my dad with tears flowing out of my eyes. "I am so disappointed in you. You are a disgrace! Don't dare call yourself my daughter." He said.

At the same time, all the monsters enclosed there hands on my friends and dad and they were crushed. They dropped them and it was like they sprinkled them on me.

The monsters dissipated leaving me all alone with all the people I care about dead.

I started balling and Evan appeared. I stood up and ran to him to give him a hug.

Instead he grabbed my shoulders and started shaking them.

My eyes fluttered open and Evan was looking over at me telling me to wake up. I sat up and realized I was crying.

'It was just a dream,' I thought taking a deep breath. I couldn't be more glad. Now I would never want to go back home if that is the real cost.

Evan smiles at me but it soon faded. "What were you thinking sleeping here! You should have stayed at the medical wing."

"Sorry," I replied. "I felt uneasy there."

He gave me a worried glance and brushed of some of the hair in my face.

"Okay, well... how about you get to know the place?"
