Couple of days later...
''Maria?'' Jenny stood in front of a huge house and saw a woman that stood from the other side of the gate with empty eyes. She remembered the children and looked at Anne beggingly. ''Please, release her.''
Anne justs smiled and approached the woman that couldn't move as she was literally impaled by a huge stick and could only move her hands and nothing else. With a soft touch, Anne smiled sadly. Even tho Maria seemed arrogant, she always treated her very good.
For her and her mother, Maria was a close friend and neighbour. They knew each other for so long...
Under her sad eyes, Maria slowly turned into specks of dust end it fell on the floor.
Anne felt aggrieved for the first time she started killing zombies. She went on her knees and slowly gathered as much of the leftover dust, that fell on the floor, into a handkerchief and carefully put into it her pocket.
Looking at the dark expression these two women had, Fabius knew it was someone they knew well and not many were so close to them, to do such a thing. One day he wants to turn into dust as well.
Until now he never cared what will happen with his body after that, but seeing her careful bearing, he suddenly wished she would do the same for him as well. With absent thoughts, he followed them carefully going towards a huge villa, that was surrounded by a few hundreds of zombies.
After getting strange a piece of information about a house that was considered raided often by zombies, Anne chose to find out what was going on. Finding Maria here, she had a feeling that the kids might be here as well.
''Mom, let's check the house. They wouldn't horde so often here if there was no one inside.'' Anne saw her mothers hopeful eyes and sighed. She loved kids, no matter her own or from other people.
''I hope their father is alive as well.'' Jenny loved the kids, but she still hoped that the children would have their original parents.
Fabius Maximus jumped in mid of the zombies and zoned out as he saw Anne just swiping hands towards the petrified creatures and turning them into dust. Not even a few moments later, most of them were killed or ran away, leaving the door to the house open.
Anne went close to the huge steel door and looked straight at the outside camera with a smile. ''Uncle Sakib, we came to save you. Is there anything we could do for you and the kids?''
A door slowly almost noiselessly opened up and a man came out with the two kids following him. ''Anne? Jenny?'' With wonder, he looked at Fabius that just had a straight face and ignored him, while staring at the surroundings. He saw something running in the nearby forest and didn't like that at all.
''Let's talk inside. I fear we will soon have bigger trouble than just a few zombies.'' Fabius Maximus pushed the two women straight inside and closed the door from the outside, while Sakib with a flabbergasted face looked at the two women that were just shrugging.
''What is worse than zombies?'' He had to ask the question as he tightly held his children.
Anne sighed. ''Let's sit down. I think there is something I must ask you.''
Sakib nodded and with a pale face heard the fighting outside. He wanted to stand up and look at the screens, but Anne stopped him. ''Uncle Sakib, please trust us. Now to my question. What happened to Aunt Maria? How did she end up that way?''
Sakib sighed. ''Maria wanted to lock the gates with few chains manually as she feared that the huge gate wouldn't stop the zombies, but got scratched by one. We could literally see the change on her and as she saw how the virus burned itself through her body, she jumped and impaled herself. I got the kids and rushed inside as the zombies really broke through the gates and since then I couldn't come out to bury her properly.''
Jenny silently sat on the side, held the two kids in her arms and patted their heads. ''It's fine. Anne, I want to talk to John. Is it possible?''
Anne could see the determination on Jenny's face and knew what she planned. She smiled and took her by the hand.
Suddenly the two women disappeared in front of them and only Anne appeared again.
Sakib started praying loudly while the children started crying. Anne just sighed and slowly took out her handkerchief with ashes. ''This world is doomed to stay this way for a long time. I gained some powers that will help me destroy the monsters, but you and the kids are normal people. Prone to be hunted by those creatures. At the moment my power is different. I can release the zombies from their bodies and ashes were left after them. To save Maria's soul I chose to give her last rest in this form. I feel that the children need to know what really happened and need her ashes for closure.''
With shaky hands, he took the ball and could feel the soft structure under his fingers. A teardrop slid down his pale face and he swallowed hard. ''If zombies are the smallest problem, how can I survive with my children? Is there a way?'' He was mostly talking to himself.
Anne saw his empty eyes as he held tightly onto the small bundle. She then turned her eyes and smiled at him with a nod. ''Uncle Sakib, there is a way, but will you trust me? Will you trust all of us?''
As he rose his head he could see Jenny and Fabius Maximus standing behind Anne and calmly nodding. Anne came forward and looked at the two children with warmth. ''There is a beautiful place we can bring you to. But the world there is not the same as this one. It's on you, whether you be able to live properly there or not.''
He suddenly smiled brightly. ''Maria was right about you two. She told me one day you will come for us and help us. I just thought she was just mumbling crazy things, but now I know she was right. Now I finally understand why she trusted you two so much. I will go where ever you want to send me. I trust you two completely.''
His complete trust could be seen on his face and he took the children by the hand and stepped forward. ''Take us to that other world. We are ready...''
