Going back to the apartment Anne just started making lists as well. They could sometimes just get back to their place and water the plants or something.
She planned to kill as many zombies as possible before leaving, but she had no plan to become an ultimate saviour. If there were not many survivors, she would consider saving many as possible and transporting them to the other world.
But since they started cleaning the streets of zombies, she realized how many humans survived. They started making groups themself. Some went for killings and some for raiding stores for food.
The post-apocalyptic world showed their new side. ''Fabius, let's go to the other side of the town. I want to raid one of the stores, to get camping gear, and all we need for long travels. I want to gather as much dried food, seeds, seasonings and other stuff, as possible.''
Anne had an idea and she already spoke with John about it. She would gather stuff and transport it to the meadow near his house, then transport it from there to their apartment. Like that they don't have to carry it in their hands.
She plans to use portals as a cheat. Listening to her plan Jenny and Fabius stood there with complicated expressions. ''Will that work?''
Even Jenny was not sure how her power worked. But as it seems her beautiful, amazing, smart daughter has an idea. ''Mom, I just skip from one place to the other.''
Jenny shook her head. ''I understood what you said. But there is a tiny glitch in your calculation.''
Anne thought about it and shook her head. ''It's easy. I don't see a problem in it.''
''You forgot one thing. What if the last place in this world, is actually a place you come out, whenever you go to that world. If you can open multiple portals, that would be amazing. But we must try it out.'' Jenny hoped that her thought is wrong and Anne's idea works as she said. ''Let's go out and walk further away. Go to John, then after John, think about our apartment. If you arrive here that means your plan will work well.''
''Mom, I don't get what the problem is that you are thinking about, can you explain, please.'' Anne saw no problem with her idea, but seeing Jenny's face, she felt that something is wrong.
''You always went to John's place from our apartment. If your idea works, then we don't have to run back home and can appear anywhere where we went before. Anywhere from your memories.'' Jenny tried to explain as simple as possible.
''You mean if my idea works, then we can travel far away in the blink of an eye. Like transporting portals, not only portals between two universes.'' Anne finally started realizing what Jenny was talking about.
''Yes, we could help more people. And we could travel in summer to one of the islands and enjoy it there. After this apocalypse, I think nature will cleanse up fast enough.'' Jenny flashed a huge smile at her.
''Mom...'' Anne started laughing. ''...you just plan to steal one of the islands and live there comfortably.''
''Anne. My beloved child. I don't need to do that. In the other world, there are thousands of islands and new adventures. But if you can transport from place to place from your memories, then we can use it to help others. Child, some people might be able to help us in this world and some in the other world. Your powers must be used as well, so you can steady your powers after a while.'' She was worried about her overexerting herself as well. But if she gets stronger by using it more often, then it is better if they are around when she does that.
Anne understood her thoughts and worries and just smiled. ''Mom, we can try it out. I will try to think about the last place we went to and then try to transport back. If we can really use this, then many things will be easier. But I think the portal ability is a bit more complicated than that. I think it is connected to the other world. So, for me to go from one connection point to the other, it has always to be the other world than our world, that is my idea. Like train stations to other cities.''
Thinking about it she concentrated and thought about the mall they went to last time and nothing happened. With I-told-you-so face, she looked at Jenny. ''I'll try to use the portal over in the other world and then to the place I was thinking about.''
Jenny nodded and held her hand. ''I wanna come. If it really works the way you said, I need to get a few things for our travels.'' If it was the way Anne said it is, she will just join her and help her.
Fabius Maximus was anyway running around the city and trying to find underground covens, that were rampant among the survivors. To make his life easier she wanted to transport many survivors to islands as well, but only if the transportation portal really works.
They appeared on a nearby meadow. They actually chose to make this place their starting point, as they feared that they would stomp the beautiful flowers John worked hard to plant. Anne held her mother's hand tightly and smiled. ''Here we go...''
John saw the two women flash in and out and scratched his head. ''What was that about?''
Jenny stood in front of triumphant Anne and shook her head. ''Fine, you win. I was overthinking stuff, as usual.''
''And made it more complicated as it is. But this works well. Let's see if we can find some camping gear and other stuff.'' Anne already had an idea what her mother wanted.
Jenny just brightly smiled. ''We could get some silk from the silk store and sell it later on for a huge price. I do not think that there will be any silk clothes anytime soon.''
Anne nodded. ''Yes, silk, soft cotton, soft linen, and special materials anyway. What about we gather cloth and put it into the big storage and leave it there. Nothing will happen to it anytime soon.''
They both suddenly had many ideas, while two red eyes carefully stared at them from the roof, that had a big hole in it. ''Interesting...''
