She felt tired.
Anne was actually not digging or gathering anything herself. But transporting hundreds and then even more people to the fields with food, strained her energy quite a lot.
With a pale face, she stood in front of Jenny and sighed. ''Enough. I am going to sleep now and no one should bother me for a long period of time.''
She went to her room and locked the door. Jenny chuckled. ''She will probably sleep for days now. It's fine. I can feel her powers rise. But, she is straining her health as well. Sigh, the positives and negatives are too strong for her body. Sleep, yes... she should sleep.''
Anne just took a shower and cuddled into her fluffy blanket. As soon as she closed her eyes, she fell into a dreamless sleep. Jenny stood in front of her door and wiped her forehead, that was beaded with small droplets of sweat. ''The human body is quite weak. I must be careful.''
But when she turned around, she saw a dark-faced Fabius Maximus staring at her. ''What?''
''Who are you actually?'' He yelled, but then was stunned as this tiny woman held his mouth in the blink of an eye and dragged his huge body, without much effort, into the living room.
What the hell? He was a strong powerful warrior. How is this possible?
She let him go and knocked his head. ''Anne is sleeping, you knucklehead.''
''Sleeping? Why? Is she sick? We must find a doctor...'' He started panicking. The world is filled with zombies and finding a proper medic, will be quite hard in this situation.
"No, she just exhausted her powers. All that jumping between the worlds and with such a large amount of people..." She started explaining while she prepared his favourite food, meat.
"So in the last few days, she was jumping here and there carelessly." His face paled a bit as he realized in what danger she must have come.
"Idiot." Jenny just rolled her eyes. "Do you think she is a damsel in distress? She has a natural ability to reject and kill zombies. The tribes we helped already knew us and wouldn't harm us, as they needed our help. And the people we helped in urban areas were those that wanted to survive. So calm down."
Jenny knew that they won't be able to help everyone, but helping some is already a big thing.
While Anne jumped between worlds, Jenny went to clean the surroundings near Melina's tribe. In the nearby city, she found a group of people that she saved and after a while, she found many more.
She was not a deity or had abilities like Anne, so she could cut or shoot to kill. With the help of others, she cleansed the town and left them right after that.
Going through the surroundings she found many zombies, just wandering around and she took care of them easily. "The worst for me was a kindergarten filled with children." She just set the whole place on fire and let it burn down to the ground.
Fabius Maximus nodded. "Vampires turn even children into new vampires, forgetting an important fact. They can't grow ever again." Their mind grew, but their bodies stayed in child form. Horrible thing.
"What did caused humans to turn into vampires?" Jenny was curious. It was not something Gods' planned to happen.
Fabius Maximus looked at the full plate with meat, but was in deep thoughts. "I searched for informations for such a long time and found out it all started in Atlantis. So I must go there. As it seems they exist in that world. Maybe they will have a cure for them, and for me..."
Jenny wanted to smack his head with the pan she just had in her hand. The urge to do that was so bad that her knuckles became white as she tried to calm down.
"You... want... what?" Her eyes fired arrows at him, making him become flustered.
"What? Why are you angry?" He couldn't understand.
"Moron. Anne just made a choice to stay by your side forever and you just plan to die. Are you cursing her to become a widow, even before getting married?" Jenny hissed at him as she took the plate with meat away from him. "Go and die somewhere else. If that was your ultimate plan, then do not make her heart waver, do not make her get deeper in love with you. In the end, your choice was to leave anyway."
For the first time since he met her, he saw her so furious. She put the meat inside the fridge and closed it with a slam, making most of the things in the kitchen shake.
"Jenny, let me explain. I..." Fabius Maximus tried talking to her, but she just shut her door, leaving him alone in the kitchen.
He didn't dare to make too much noise, as he wanted Anne to rest. So he sat down near the window and started thinking. His heart was unwilling to live longer. But Jenny was right. Anne doesn't deserve to be treated like that either.
She already took the potion to extend her life for the next hundred years. And looking at her, she probably planned to live much, much longer.
He made a decision. If there is a cure to his immortality, he will take it, but only if she chooses to die one day as well. Eternity is tiresome. Very tiresome.
With a big smile, he went to Anne's door and sat right in front of it. From now on he plans to stick by her side. Not letting her go. And John is young again...
With such thoughts, he closed his eyes and fell asleep, while Jenny came out of her room with a pale face. "Human body is really bad. It took me so much energy to get him to sleep. Now I must rest as well, how bothersome."
With that, she closed the door and silence enveloped their place, while outside the hell was set loose again...
