Chapter 58 - Newcomers and Suspicion

Delphine walks up to the person in charge of the tavern to see if there are any rooms available. The man was clearly in charge of everything that's inside the bar, and he had a lot of things going on.

"How can I help you, Miss...?" The innkeeper asked.

"Delphine," she answered.

"Ah, yes. Everyone in this place knows quite a lot about you. So, what do you need?" He asked.

"I'd like a room for two. Do you have that?"

"Of course. It's available. You can have it."

Then, Delphine hands over a few coins to the innkeeper, and he hands over the room key. Simon turns around and saw a few men looking at him with very suspicious eyes; they never saw him before, but they did know he might be up to something.

"Your room is on the top floor. Enjoy your visit here," the innkeeper said. Then, Delphine walks up the stairs as Simon followed her and began looking forward to this time instead of backward.

He would rather look at Delphine's back instead of turning his head amongst people who seemed to not care about him. The nordic people were much different than people from the southern regions when it comes to looking at newcomers. The stairs were only a few steps to the next floor, and it was not a vast place to rest in. People of cites and villages next to Midland were afraid of those who carried large swords, but northern people had a suspicion that newcomers will do something that will affect the way they live. Delphine and Simon swore that they would never do anything to harm the lives of the citizens.

A few seconds later, they found the room they will be renting as they stay in the city; it was not much, but it was enough for them to stay comfortable. Delphine lays her sword and scabbard next to the door, and Simon made sure to do the same so that none of their belongings get lost. She then takes off her cloak and lays it on the bed, and she looks all around the room to see if it is reorganized. Nobody in the tavern had the gall to bother people as they try to sleep; they wished for the best out of those who had the strength to move around after getting some rest. Then, Delphine walks towards the window and looks outside to see all of the people walking around and doing their daily routine.

"You know, every time we go and find ourselves a place to rest, you sure seem to like that spot," Simon said.

"Is that a problem with you? I could move around and see you think of a much better place," Delphine said.

"Well, you could sit on the bed. I'm sure they always wash their bedsheets and blankets. I mean, why wouldn't they?" He asked.

"You might never know. Sometimes, a clumsy person might spill their wine on the sheets, and the owner doesn't even realize it. It's enough to make anyone get packed and find another place to stay. Now, I don't know everything about the northern people, but I do know that they like to party and celebrate a lot. It can be pretty difficult to get some sleep when you start to hear their music and voices. When you're in these types of cities, you'll just have to get used to it."

Then, Delphine takes her armor and gauntlets off, but she leaves her boots on since it will only be longer for Delphine to get some sleep. She lays the armor next to her sword and made sure that none of their weapons leave that spot. Then, she sits down on the bed to see if Simon is correct about it being comfortable and easy to use. The beds in Gisbourne were soft and easy to use, but not in a way that would make her feel so surprised.

"Oh, this doesn't seem too bad. It feels good and nothing too difficult," Delphine said.

"I'm glad to hear you like it," Simon said. It was at that moment when Delphine started to think of something that would sharpen Simon's mind.

She then proceeds to move further next to Simon to see if he can look at her, and he believed she was playing around.

"I'm not looking at you, Delphine," Simon said.

"Oh, but you're going to," Delphine said.

"What makes you think I'll do that?" He asked.

"You like looking at me. You've been looking at me ever since we first met. You're going to keep doing it until we decide to live together. I even know what you keep thinking about. And it's not just my face that keeps your eyes opened. I know exactly what keeps you staring at me."

"I don't even know what you mean. Maybe I keep thinking about your hair and your eyes."

"No. You like to think about the rest of my body. You've had a habit of looking at my breasts. I can hear you in your sleep. Not only do you like a lady's chest, but you seem to be really into legs as well."

Simon's face became red, and he started to be in self-denial and complete embarrassment as Delphine spoke with him. Even if he was trying to compliment her, it still felt a little bit off the edge to think about a woman's body. In Simon's eyes, Delphine's body is much more attractive and lovely to gaze upon than his first girlfriend's body. It was too late to win his first girlfriend's love because she died a long time ago; obviously, he never stopped thinking about her for many years. Then, Delphine gets up from the bed and gives Simon some room for him to sit down and relax.

She then takes another look around the place to see if she can organize it herself, and it turns out that there wasn't anything to do.

"Well, I think you should get some rest. You need it, and I need it," Delphine said. Even at the latest part of the morning, they both needed time to rest, and both needed time to prepare themselves for the misty mountains.

"Well, this bed is still enough for two people. I'll save a spot for you," Simon said. Then, Delphine chuckled a little bit as she tries to think of a time when she can rest.

And so, Simon lays himself down on the bed and looks up at the ceiling before he can fully close his eyes. Then a few minutes later, Delphine gets onto the bed herself and lies down beside the young hunter. Simon doesn't know that she was wearing only her bikini to bed with him, but he still noticed her strong scent while sleeping. He assumed that Delphine has a whole bottle of perfume with her, and it appeared as if the smell never goes away. It must've either cost her quite a fortune, or she must've stolen it from one of Lagertha's giant stack of perfumes.

A few hours pass, and Delphine and Simon were still in bed together, and Simon began to roll over towards Delphine and lay his hands on her. Her body was very soft and a little muscular after wielding her greatsword almost all of the time. Then, Simon began to rub her stomach and move his hands all over her back; she felt only some of it as he lay down with her. He then opens his eyes and notices that six hours have already passed, and they were still asleep. Delphine also wakes up after hearing him stretch his arms to prepare himself for more stakes at hand adequately.

"Hey, Delphine. I think it's time," Simon said.

"I'm sure it is. Must be why I heard you twist and turn as I slept," Delphine said. Then, she moves the blanket away and gets up from the bed, and her body is revealed to Simon as he started opening his eyes.

"Where the heck are your clothes, Delphine?" He asked.

"I don't usually wear clothes when I sleep. It's much comfortable for me to sleep without them on," she said. Then, Simon covered his mouth and turned his eyes elsewhere as Delphine moves much closer to him.

She then stood before him and lowered herself down to his level, and she wanted him to look at her.

"Why do you seem upset? This isn't the first time you've ever seen me with no clothes on. Might not be the last," Delphine said.

"No, wait. That's not the issue. It's just... uh, never mind," Simon said.

"Well, I guess we can go back to the first floor and get us something to eat before we head out," she said. And so, they got ready again to go places and walk around until the sun goes down.

Before they could do any of that, they needed to eat something first and be ready to journey inside of the misty mountains.
