Two days later, It is already, Monday. The day of the party. Monic left Hyena a message on her phone, stating the time of the party. It is already noon time and the sun is already high up and burning so hot.
Hyena searched her closet for a dress to wear for the party. While searching, she heard the doorbell downstairs. She hurriedly went down to entertain whosoever is outside. "Good day ma'am here's a delivery for you." The delivery guy handed her a box. Although confusion hit her, she still accepted it and signed the package form. When the delivery guy was gone, she closed the door and went to the sofa.
On the couch, Hyena settled herself placing the box in her lap. She wondered. "Who could possibly sent this to me?" She looked around the box, inspecting, trying to search a name or any detail of the sender, but she failed. There's nothing. She just opoened the box and was mesmerised. "A dress. A beatiful dress and a pair of silver heels." Her eyes were full of astonishment. She then, took the dress out of the box. It is a black tubed dress and is over the knee. Coated with small beads in the chest, it surely is an eye catching dress to wear.
Hyena found a letter inside the box. "Wear this for the party tonight." She read. "Huh, no more? Not even a name or abbreviation?" She curiously uttered. She reached out for her phone, when it vibrated inside her pocket. "Did you receive the package?" An unknow number appeared. "Yes, who are you? Where did you get my number?" She replied. "You'll know later. See you at the party." He replied.
Before seven in the evening, Hyena was already done fixing herself. Monic's earlier message stated that the party will start at seven PM. She embraced herself with compliments in front of the mirror. "Am I not beautiful?" She cheeringly talked to herself. She is wearing the dress and the heels she received from the package. Hyena's jet black hair was bunned up the back of her head. Likewise, she applied a light make up to enhance her beauty. "Perfect!" She uttered when the doorbell rang.
Hyena grabbed her purse and walked downstairs. She opened the main door and saw Lan standing in front of her, looking magnificently. He was wearing a dark blue suit. His hair was neatly brushed. "Good evening Hyena, you look beautiful with that dress." Lan reached out for her hand and placed a kiss on it. Hyena blushed, so she looked away for him not to see her blushing. "Thanks, you too. You look handsome." She complimented.
"Do you like the dress?" Lan asked while driving through their way to the party. Hyena's eyes widened. "This is from you?" She asked. Lan smiled at her and gave her a gentle nod. "Yes I do like it. In fact it suits me quite well. Specially the dress's measurement. Thank you, Lan." She said. She's a bit fluttered when she saw him blushed. She find it cute for guy to blush for a simple compliment. "Sure, and this is the first time you mentioned my name. I am flattered. I wish I can hear more of it from you, cause it's overwhelming and heart fluttering to hear." He said while stealing a glance at Hyena. Hyena can't believe that this guy beside her has a power to flutter her heart so much that it pumped like it wanted to jump off her chest. She tapped her cheecks gently to feel it heating up. She was so sure that she's blushing. By that, she just looked outside the window to avoid his glares.
They parked the car outside a white mansion. Lan climbed off the car first and assisted her. After that, Lan offered her his arms for her to hold on. So she did. They entered the mansion with full of elegant people talking to each other and greeting each other. "This is a one big party. Thought it would be a small one." She said. Lan simply giggled at her words. They both went to the near table where Nick and Monic were waiting. "Hello, good evening dear, you look gorgeous, tonight." Monic greeted. "You too, girl." Hyena greeted back.
Hyena's sitting beside her best-friend, when she asked her curiously. "Who's friend of you this party is?" "I'll introduce you to him. He's handsome. No, he is perfect." Monic corrected. "Come with me." Monic gave her a nod, so Hyena stood up and walked beside her best-friend.
Walking up to the terrace. There, Hyena saw a guy standing all firmly. He's wearing a white longsleeve and a black pants. Based from how he stand, Hyena can say that he is of muscular built, and an overwhelmingly tall guy. "Oh, there he is." Monic said. "Hey my friend, I've been looking for you ever since." Monic joked. The guy didn't say a word but rather shrugged. "Right, I want you to meet my best-friend. Hyena, this is Dale and Dale, this is Hyena." Slowly the guy turned around. A big imaginary punch hit Hyena. She was taken a back. "Hyena, are you okay?" Monic panickly uttered.
Hyena felt her knees softened due to the mixture emotions flowing over her system. Precisely, embarrassment, shame, shock and fear. "Monic, Nick is calling you." Dale said. "Gosh, this man. Alright, take care of my best-friend or else I'll kill you. Happy birthday!" Monic planted Dale a kiss on his cheeks. Hyena wanted her to stay. She tried to reach for her best-friend's hand but it was too late, now. "Monic don't leave me here." She muttered with no hope.
Dale pulled her towards him. His eyes turned into a fine line. "Hello there, aren't you gonna greet me a happy birthday?" He said teasingly. Hyena wanted to stay away from him, but she couldn't. "Well, happy birthday, bugger." She said with a mocking smile while calming herself. Dale felt his blood burning up of the endearment she used. She wanted to kick herself off his party. "Tss stupid." He coldly snapped. "Oh, who's stupider? Me who helped you or you who blocked a car just to beg for help?" She boasted, raising her gaze to meet his. He is way taller than her, that her height's only a level of his armpit. "Who's stupider? Me that only asked you to bring me to my house or you who even undressed me without permission?" He argued.
Dale really enjoyed teasing her. Especially when she was not able to answer his mock. "Can't answer? Did you enjoyed the view?" He teased. His words echoed in Hyena's ear and to her frustration, she quickly face him. Dub-dub-dub-dub. The sound of her heart beat. Their faces were so close to each other. Their lips were just a centimeter away from each other. Hyena can not move any of her body parts. It's as if her brain stopped working. "So? What now?" Dale asked touching her upper lips, occasionally. She was like a puppet. A puppet that's under his spell. She does not even know how to contradict. "You jerk!" She cussed out, pushing him away with all her might as she held her lips. "Wow, thank you. This is indeed a nice birthday greeting. This is the best birthday party I ever had." Dale mocked.
"Brother is everything alright?" A familiar voice, spoke. Hyena turned around and was shocked again. "Brother?" She asked not believing any of it. 'Why is everything giving me surprise lately,' she wondered in her mind. "Yes, Hyena. Dale is my younger brother." Lan said. Hyena's vision went blurry for a moment. A reason for her to grasp for something to hold on but there was nothing. She thought she was going to fall but Lan assisted her. "Are you okay?" He worriedly asked. "She is okay, big bro." Dale uttered irritatedly. "What did you do to her, silly?" Lan asked Dale. "Nothing, big bro. In fact, we just enjoyed reminiscing some memories of us." He said, giving her a meanigful wink.
"Memories my foot, bastard." Hyena said after she pulled herself together. "Are you two perhaps... arguing?" Lan proudly asked. "No" they both answered. Lan stole the both of them a glance and fixed his stare to his younger brother. "Don't ever try hurt her or your dead." Lan, uttered in a fierce manner. Hyena considered that there was something beyond those words of him. Dale tapped his big bro's shoulder and nodded at him. "No worries, man of every girl." Dale teased.
