Jason supported Karen as she looked around the familiar compound displeased. She had spent her whole life in this very house. There was a mixture of emotions displayed on her face. Confusion nervousness, fear.. The minute she laid eyes on the couple at the door, she froze. Jason had been observing her quietly and held her hands to give her support. He led her forward and she followed mechanically with a blank look on her face. He walked forward to the couple who were completely startled and had surprise and even displeasure displayed on their faces. They just couldn't fathom how this could have happened. How did their crazy neice could have ended up with the young master of the Wu family.
At that very moment Mrs Lou felt regret for abandoning her niece on the streets. She should have gotten rid of her completely! Now she was back to throw their family into turmoil, just when she thought she had gotten rid of this plague of a girl.
"Good afternoon Mr. Lou. I'm Jason Wu, your neice's fiance. I thought I would come over and announce my intentions to the only family my Karen has left. Oh, I also brought gifts for the bride's family." Jason turned to look behind him at assistant Kwan who was walking over with lots of shopping bags. He came over and stood behind Jason.
The Lou couple were so shocked at Jason's words that the stood frozen in confusion. Was their niece not just an orphaned street girl who was probably still crazy? How could she be young master Wu's fiance?
"Will you let us in or are we supposed to leave? My fiance isn't in the best of health, she can't be kept standing out here like this." Jason reminded as if to reaffirm what he had said.
Mr. Wu was the first to get his wits about him. "Erh.. please come in" he offered, moving out of the way to allow Jason and Karen as well as a suffering assistant Kwan entrance into the Lou house.
"Oh yes, my fiance has allergies. I'm sure as her family, you'd be able to tell what not to serve today" Jason commented, in a bid to find out exactly what Karen was allergic to.
Mrs. Lou who had finally recovered from her shock but felt aggrieved on behalf of her daughter retorted haughtily "I'm sorry, but we had no idea Karen would be here today and my daughter has a preference for soy dishes. We simply didn't prepare to accommodate her. "
Jason put on a questioning gaze. "Oh? So I'm not welcome here am I?"
"No no, I'm sorry that's not what my wife meant, she's just trying to apologise for our lack of foresight" Mr. Lou rushed to explain sending a reproachful gaze towards his wife. Even if she couldn't get what she wanted, how could she dare to offend a man like Jason Wu?
"That's even more surprising, that you could possibly foresee that I'd be here with my fiance. "
Mr. Lou was dumbfounded.
" Don't worry, since my wife to be can't be accommodated I won't be a bother either. I'll just drop of the gifts."
Just when Jason started to leave, a flustered Sheryl who seemed young and fresh in her peach dress with her hair held in a messy bun that seemed to complement her petite face and large eyes which had just a little makeup to heighten all the prettiness of her face . The blush from being flustered rushing down the stairs. " Mom? Who's.. " She paused midway down the stairs with a pleasantly surprised look on her face. "Oh my God!" She run down the stairs over to Karen and hugged her tightly. "Oh my God Karen!" She grabbed Karen's hands in hers and and questioned with tears building up in her eyes. "How could you just run away from home? We've been so scared that something bad had happened to you. How could you treat your family like that? We were worried sick!" At this point she broke into full blow tears and patted Karen on the head affectionately.
"Dad, Karen's finally home why would you keep her standing here? Come in and have lunch. You're so skinny."
