At that moment, Mr. Lou felt so blessed for his smart daughter. Jason on the other hand had no plans to let Karen stay with this suspicious family any longer. He grabbed Karen's arm to pull her back.
"Please don't worry, Karen is now my fiance. I'll be taking care of her from now onwards, especially since the meals prepared today could harm my fiance."
"Harm? Oh I'm so sorry, where are my manners? I'm Sheryl Lou. Thank you for finding my cousin and taking care of her, but what's this about fiance?" Sheryl asked with an innocent expression.
"It's exactly as you've heard" Jason refused to explain any further.
"Well.. I don't know if we can allow you to take away our family who is vulnerable just because you can" Sheryl said defiantly, holding onto Karen's arm.
"I didn't know you cared so much. There wasn't even a report that the Lou family was missing a member."
"Well that.. " Sheryl turned to her father.
"This .. we just didn't want to make a fuss that would be picked up by the media. I mean we haven't even told anyone that she's... mentally ill yet. How would she rejoin the society when she got better?"
"Yes, we've been searching for her over the past week" Mrs Lou chirped in.
"Oh? I wonder how you've been operating the search" Jason querried.
"Well.. we ..." Mrs Lou stuttered.
"Didn't you tell me that you had gotten an agent to search for cousin?" Sheryl asked her mother.
"Ah.. yes dear, it just slipped my mind for a second there." Mrs Lou answered
"Hah, well I've already decided on my fiance. If the Lou family is really bent on stopping me, then I advice on a better excuse. I hope relations between us remain just as calm as they were before."
Jason said ominously. "Good day to you" he nodded and wrapped his arms around Karen, bringing her ou of the room. By then assistant Kwan had completed his trips to and from the car to present all the gifts and also followed them out.
Jason was concerned about Karen. Since she had seen the Lou couple, she hadn't even shown any expressions on her face. She had not relaxed once throughout the whole meeting. In fact, it seemed as though her face had frozen. Just like the expression she had on in her uniformed picture. But at that very moment, her eyes were no longer bright and it scared Jason. He wished send her home quickly and directed the driver to be faster.
-----
The Lou family was in bad spirits. The moment Jason left, Mrs Lou sat down heavily and held her head. "That little bitch really has good luck. It didn't even take her a week to find such a large thigh."
Sheryl glanced at her mother." I told you that it was wrong to abandon her on the streets. We should have just kept her here. We never let her out of her room anyways, now look what's happening"
"Wife, you're really too silly. You didn't even wait and ask me before you made such a decision" Mr. Lou reproached.
Amongst all three of them, Sheryl was the most regretful. Thinking about the huge diamond ring on Karen's finger she quickly run up to her room and begun to take out her anger on the things on her dresser, her face erupting with a venomous look. She swept all of it down unto the floor. Her mother was so brainless sometimes. If she hadn't sent her plaything into the streets all this wouldn't have happened. What was so good about that stupid girl anyway? How could a crazy girl even get married? Why couldn't she be the Wu's daughter in law? If she hadn't waited upstairs and heard their conversation with that Jason Wu they couldn't even have managed the situation at all and yet her mother ruined everything again.
"Sheryl come see!" She heard her mother's voice from downstairs. Stepping out of her room she stood at the head of the stairs and watched her mother unpacking the gifts going master Wu had brought.
"Sheryl look, the gifts are so expensive!" He mother exclaimed, Holding up a limited edition designer handbag.
Sheryl almost puked in disgust.
