When they arrived at the Sunset hotel, Salem couldn't help but wonder why a slaving ring higher-up would stay is such a filthy place.
'Guess he's got to lay low.' He figured.
They entered the building and talked to the receptionist.
"We are here for a man by the name of Womble." Salem said.
The receptionist pulled out her logbook and began searching for the name.
She found it five minutes later. "He is in room eighty-seven." She said. "Please don't wreck too much."
"We'll wreck as much as is required to catch this man." Alina replied. "If he resists, more will be broken. Be glad we're not bringing this whole place to the ground."
The receptionist went as white as a sheet.
"That was scary." Ruby commented when they were out of earshot. "What possessed you to do that?"
"If we adhere to their fears, they're less likely to screw with us." Alina responded, unconcerned by the potential heart attack she just caused.
They arrived at room eighty-seven.
Salem summoned Reaper and explained what to do. Before he sent him in, he created a bug and had it investigate the room.
In the room lay two people. One person looked exactly like Alec the slaver, while the other one was about as tall as Salem, except he looked like a shadow. It had no facial features, and its arms blended into its body.
"Looks like there are two people in this room." Salem whispered. "And we never asked the hotel guy what race he was. We're going to have to catch them both."
Reaper nodded and procured shackles that looked like bones.
"That's convenient." Salem muttered. "I can use nanomancy after all."
He made two sets of hand and foot shackles that looked like bone. Using his bugs to deliver them to his targets, he watched as the shackles attached to the shadow. They appeared to be floating on nothing, but the shadow said otherwise.
The hobbit man didn't even wake up.
The shadow did.
It woke up and tried to escape, but the shackles did their job.
"Who are you?" It exclaimed, as it spoke, Salem saw it's head shift and a mouth form. The mouth formed like an artist that didn't know how to use watercolour could paint with watercolour. Two white dots appeared on it's face. "What do you want?"
Salem leisurely opened the door.
"We're here for information." Salem said. "Are you the man named Womble?"
