Chapter 2 - Mysterious dragon

Spiritual Essence. This foreign element in the air was present almost everywhere and covered every inch of the new Earth. Having obtained more importance than oxygen itself, this Spiritual Essence was what made the Earth the way it is right now.

Increased its size to rival the once largest planet Jupiter, evolved the living creatures on it to create new races, and even gave living beings the power to split mountains with their bare hands.

But where exactly did Spiritual Essence come from?

To know this, one has to go as much as 9000 years back to when the Earth was just beginning to enter the age of space exploration.

Before the people could officially enter that era though, something happened which would forever change the fate of the planet and everyone on it.

Rushing inside the milky way galaxy was a huge piece of rock which was many times bigger than the sun itself.

Entering the galaxy, the first thing the rock did was to completely destroy Jupiter which had come in its way and didn't leave even a single rock of it behind by completely obliterating it with the huge speed and momentum behind it.

Following this, the huge rock whizzed past Earth by barely missing it causing everyone on the planet to breathe a sigh of relief not knowing that this was just the beginning.

With the entire planet trembling so much that everyone feared it was going to split into two, Earth grew a few times bigger under the constant shaking and changed the geography of it as well giving birth to entirely new continents and destroying a few which existed in the past.

At the same time, a foreign element which didn't exist on the planet until then invaded the atmosphere and led the planet into the second stage of evolution.

Starting with plants, and then spreading to animals in a matter of weeks, humans weren't spared from the forcible evolution either with the first one evolving injust a year after the breathtaking comet passed by the planet.

The forcible evolution wasn't something which humans were against though. To bear with the changing planet where even some plants were capable of swallowing humans whole, evolving was something every human wished for.

And with the evolution, all humanoid creatures and their descendants obtained the power to interact with the Spiritual Essence in the air and make it their own which they would proceed to use in a multitude of ways.

Like this, humans who obtained the power to stand up against the evolved animals and plants were soon starting to get used to their life when many unforeseen events took place one after the other.

The discovery of nine thrones floating in the air around the planet, finding out that they were no longer alone on the planet anymore, the presence of seven other humanoid races along with them on the same side of the planet, the continent of beasts which covered half of the planet on the other side.

All of these events took place one after the other at the end of which no records were left behind about what happened after that since three thousand years passed by at which point nine more thrones appeared in the air and the huge rock once again passed the planet.

With no records existing about what happened to the thrones just like in the past, the humans on the human continent began rebuilding everything from scratch while trying to uncover the mystery behind what happened during those few years which was hidden behind a curtain of secrecy that the inhabitants of the planets themselves didn't know about.

Elijah didn't know how much time had passed, but he finally opened his eyes while hoping that he wasn't dead since he couldn't feel anything around him.

Pitch black….

Sighing in defeat as soon as he saw this, Elijah felt that he was dead since this was what he expected to see when he died.

Not too long after he had this thought though, Elijah witnessed something which gave him hope that maybe he wasn't dead.

The space which was pitch dark soon received some light due to a small snake with wings, horns and claws appearing in the midst of the space out of nowhere. Letting off a shiny yellow glow, the creature which was obviously a dragon looked towards Elijah.

Yes! The dragon which seemed to be a well drawn image and not a real one looked towards Elijah with condescending eyes and pointed somewhere else.

'Huh…. What are those?'

As if reading the thoughts Elijah had inside his head, the dragon simply stared at him while the answer appeared inside his head.

'Pick four? But what are they?'

No longer bothering itself with even looking towards Elijah, the dragon closed its eyes and seemingly went back to sleep showing that it couldn't bother with him any longer.

'This….'

Shaking his head and not thinking about the dragon any longer since he knew that there wasn't anything good for him to come out of it, Elijah looked towards the line of huge floating orbs which had appeared out of nowhere.

Despite not possessing any prior knowledge regarding what the orbs were that he could pick four of, Elijah with the extensive knowledge he possessed to make up for his average talent came up with a guess which couldn't be any more accurate.

Affinities!
