Chapter 6 - Reattempting the assignment

9th Level Spiritual Disciple. After Elijah began converting the Spiritual Essence inside him into three equal parts of Fire, Lightning, and Space, his cultivation which was originally at the 8th Level of Spiritual Master came down by almost an entire level.

Spiritual Disciple, Spiritual Master, Spiritual Grandmaster, Spiritual Noble, Spiritual King, Spiritual Emperor, Spiritual Sage, Spiritual Saint, Spiritual Celestial, Spiritual Demigod, and Spiritual God.

These were the eleven realms of Spiritual Cultivation with each of them divided into nine sub levels.

Therefore, to fall back to the 9th Level of Spiritual Disciple, Elijah could be said as having suffered a major setback in terms of cultivation.

However, in terms of strength, Elijah had actually grown much stronger than before.

After all, in comparison to possessing a huge amount of affinity less Spiritual Essence, it was better to possess three smaller parts made up of different elements.

Luckily for Elijah, he hadn't yet entered the Spiritual Noble stage at which point the Spiritual Essence inside the cultivators would experience a change in its form.

Thus, Elijah didn't feel too sad and stood up with a composed look in his eyes as he clenched his fists.

Summoning flames out of nowhere which he covered his fist in, Elijah laughed out loud and looked into the distance with a sharp glint in his eyes.

"Today's the day you die, you big fat cat!"

At the Sunset School which Elijah was a student of, the final passing grade of a student who graduated from it was decided based on three tests.

One was the written test which Elijah had aced, the second one was the special assignment which he was attempting right now, and the final test was a combat tournament.

Taking into consideration the grade one received in all of the three tests, the final passing grade was decided. And it was this grade which would make or break the graduate's future.

A high grade of A and above was needed if one wanted to join a decent college. And to do this, Elijah who knew that he wouldn't be able to stand out in the combat tournament had placed all of his hopes on the special assignment.

Special assignment as the name implied was an assignment which every student needed to complete. All students are only allowed to pick one assignment, and a rank is given to the students who complete it depending on what the difficulty level of it was.

To Elijah who couldn't even dream about winning a few rounds in the combat tournament, the special assignment ended up receiving all of his hopes due to which he picked one of the three hardest assignments posted every year.

Completing this assignment successfully would give Elijah his second 'S' grade of the year. And if he did receive his second 'S' grade, Elijah wouldn't have to worry about not obtaining an 'A' grade even if he performed badly in the combat tournament.

And picking one of the three S ranked difficulty missions was what landed Elijah in peril and almost lose his life.

But, not only did Elijah not die, he ended up receiving a heaven defying opportunity which would change his fate once and for all.

Wind Winged Tiger, that was the Grade 3 Mysterious Beast which Elijah needed to kill and bring back with him as proof for completing his assignment.

Along with humans, the beasts had also evolved granting them the same mystical abilities as humans and use Spiritual Essence.

And given their naturally stronger bodies, it was generally considered that in the same realm the average cultivator had no hope of defeating the evolved beast.

As for a Grade 3 Mysterious Beast, its cultivation was on the same level as a Spiritual Grandmaster.

So, how could Elijah possibly have killed it?

Indeed it was impossible for Elijah to achieve this by normal means, but it didn't mean that it would be impossible.

According to the Sunset school's rules, one was only restricted from taking outsider help which referred to fellow students or from those outside the school. But there was nothing which restricted the student's from taking advantage of the other evolved beast's inside the forest.

Having understood this, Elijah after planning for a long time picked the assignment to kill the Wind Winged Tiger which didn't actually possess real wings and could only use Wind Spiritual Essence to create wings for itself after becoming a Desolate Beast.

In simple terms, a Desolate Beast of the 1st Grade rivalled a human cultivator at the Spiritual Noble Realm.

Back to the topic, after entering the forest, Elijah never once made a single mistake and arrived in front of the tiger's den and successfully lured it with him towards a huge ape's territory.

With both of them being around the same level in strength, Elijah through his research knew that even though they were evenly matched the Wind Winged Tiger would win at the end and successfully kill the huge ape.

In that case, why did he choose the assignment to kill the tiger and not the ape?

It was because after killing the ape, there was no way the tiger would just leave and not eat its dead body.

Furthermore, since the fight was going to be a long and deadly one, the tiger was bound to be filled with injuries and leave it in a weak state which even Elijah could take advantage of and use to kill it.

But, something completely unbelievable ended up happening which ruined Elijah's plans entirely.

Putting aside how the ape had suddenly disappeared less than an hour after Elijah made sure it was there, the Wind Winged Tiger had almost completely killed him at which point the ape reappeared and sneak attacked the tiger and almost slammed it to death.

Who the fuck was the fisherman in this script?!!
