Lyra and her mother finally arrived at Moon Shadow Academy. They were walking to the headmaster's office and got lost on the way.
They saw a young man with a neat and handsome appearance walking towards them with his head down, so Lyra's mother tapped his shoulder to get his attention.
The man looked up, and Lyra finally noticed who he was, Phil. Her heart rate sped up, and she became nervous. She finally found him! She knew it has been three hundred years since her death, and she was shocked to see his youthful appearance. He did not age at all!
Her heart felt warm, and she was happy to see him. But then she noticed his eyes. They looked as if they were absent of all life, almost robotic. He looked devoid of all emotions.
"Is this... because of me?" Lyra thought, but wouldn't say it out loud. Her eyes began to water, but no tears fell. She looked away from him to calm herself down.
But both Len and Lyra's mom did not notice the change in Lyra. Len was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he did not notice that Lyra was there at all. He only noticed Lyra's mother because she tapped his shoulder.
Lyra's mother asked, "excuse me, sir. Which way to the headmaster's office?"
Len looked between Lyra and Lyra's mother, and then decided to lead them there himself. "Follow me." He said, Then he began walking towards Leo's office.
He glanced back at Lyra for a moment, and then immediately looked away. 'How is it possible?' He thought, looking back at the girl, 'how is it possible that the girl looks so much like Selena?'
'Her eyes are the same color as Selena's, such a beautiful silver that seems impossible for anyone else to have.' Then he looked at her entire face, which was extremely pale, except for her rosy cheeks. 'She looks a little younger than Selena though. Can't possibly be her. Besides..." he looked at her loosely braided hair.
'Selena never wore her hair braided. She always insisted that having her hair down helped her fight.'
Then he looked away from Lyra. 'There is no possible way she could be Selena. What an I thinking! There is no replacement for Selena either!'
Then he glanced at Lyra again. 'But why do I get nervous seeing this young girl?'
They finally arrived just outside the headmaster's office when Len turned around and gently asked, "what is your name, miss?"
Lyra responded, "my name is Lyra, and this is my mother." Len did not notice that Lyra had her head turned slightly away from him to avoid meeting his eyes.
Len smiled at her and opened the door. 'I knew it. It's impossible that she is Selena. After all, Selena's an orphan.'
However, Len did not know why he smiled after Lyra said her name.
"Len! You came back! Are you here to meet the new student?" A voice called out from inside the room.
"No." Len responded. "I brought someone here. They were asking for directions."
He walked into the room, and Lyra and Lyra's mother walked in after him. "Here you are." Len said before walking out.
"Wait!" Lyra said, staring after him.
Len turned to look at Lyra, and then asked, "what is it?"
"What is your name?"
Len smiled and said, "my name is Len." Then he walked out of the room and closed the door.
Lyra then looked at the headmaster, Leo. He looked exactly the same as he did before. Even the grin on his face was familiar to Lyra.
"So," Leo said, looking at Lyra, "Are you here for the interview?"
Lyra responded with a nod.
Leo gestured for Lyra to sit in front of him and for her mother to sit in the back.
After Lyra sat down, Leo asked, "what is your name?"
Lyra responded, "Lyra."
Leo smiled, and then said, "congratulations, Lyra, you are now part of the special class."
"Wait... how?" Lyra asked, unsure of what was happening.
"You passed the interview with the only perfect score ever, so you obviously have to be a part of the special class, otherwise it would be a shame to our school."
"But... how did I get a perfect score? You didn't even ask me any questions."
Leo laughed. "I did ask you questions. I asked if you were here for the interview and I also asked for your name."
Lyra was puzzled. "But how come no one else got a perfect score before if those are the only questions? And why are there so few people in the special class?"
Leo looked towards Lyra's mother and then said, "your daughter is quite smart."
Then he turned back towards Lyra and said, "ask these questions when you come for class tomorrow. For now, all you need to know is that you are in the special class."
