The next day.
Lyra's mother dropped Lyra off at Moon Shadow Academy. Lyra was carrying a few suitcases which held important belongings. She was going to move into the down.
She came to the headmaster's office and knocked on the door.
Not even a moment passed before she heard the voice of Leo. "Come in!" He said.
Lyra walked in while still carrying her luggage. "Lyra, you're finally here!" Leo said when he saw her.
She smiled in response and then said, "I'm here."
Leo did not fix his appearance this time, so he looked like a mess. However, Lyra felt more comfortable seeing him like this because this is how he normally appeared in the past.
"Take a seat." Leo said with a smile. Lyra sat down across from him and looked at him patiently.
They sat in silence for a while, and Lyra was wondering what exactly was on Leo's mind. He was never this silent unless he had something important to think about.
Meanwhile, Leo was staring at Lyra. No matter how much he looked at her face, he only saw Selena.
Finally, Leo decided to break the silence. "You... are actually Selena."
There was no question in his voice. He was hesitant to say it, but he had no doubt in his mind. Lyra was Selena. He also has no idea why or how it was possible, but he knew. He wanted to find out what happened to her, how she reappeared three hundred years after her death, and he also wanted her desperately to cure Len of his heartbreak.
Lyra frowned when she heard his statement, but she still responded. "Yes... I am Selena."
Leo stared blankly at her for a moment. "How?"
Lyra frowned again. "I can't tell you right now. Maybe someday I could tell, but it's impossible for me to tell you now."
Then Lyra thought of Len again, and her eyes became teary.
"Selena, what's wrong?"
Lyra did not notice how teary her eyes were until Leo pointed it out. She then wiped her eyes quickly and said, "Don't call me Selena right now. Please don't. And..."
Her words trailed off at the end. She was hesitant to say that last part, but she knew she needed to say it.
Even though she really needed to say it, she could not get the words out. She and Leo sat in silence for a moment, while Leo pondered over what she said.
'Why can't I call her Selena now?' He thought, But he did not ask. He knew that she wanted to tell, but there was something preventing her from telling.
So he prompted her, "And?"
Then she snapped out of her slight trance and continued speaking, "and don't tell Len that I am Selena."
Leo was surprised to hear that request. Len would be the happiest person too find out that Selena came back. Leo was confused, and a million different thoughts passed through his head.
Unconsciously, he asked, "why can't I tell him?"
With that asked, Tears began to fall from Lyra's eyes. She decided to tell Leo as much as she could.
"It-it's not that I don't want L-Len to find out, bu-but I can't let him." She paused for a while to wipe her tears.
"Why not?" Leo asked. He felt bad bringing up the topic that only made Lyra cry more, but he felt that he could help her somehow if he knew everything. For something to make Selena cry like this, it must be big. Selena never used to cry.
Lyra answered hesitatingly, "if... if Phil finds out that I c- came back from the... dead, he... he would be h- hurt even more."
Leo stared at her in surprise. "Wha- What do you mean?"
Lyra wiped her tears and took a deep breath to calm herself down.
"I... I was able to come back to life under one condition. If I break that condition, I will die."
Leo jolted upright in his seat when he heard that and his eyes became wide. "What was the condition?"
Lyra looked away from him for a moment and then began to speak, "the one condition is..."
"That Len may never learn of my coming back to life."
"But... isn't that too cruel? Lyra, why did you agree to such a condition?"
Lyra's sighed after his question. "I... specifically waited for three hundred years before coming back. I thought he would have moved on already by then. I just wanted to see him be happy. I wanted to care for his family like they are my own, and protect them from the shadows. I was fine with my heart being broken, but I wanted Phil to live on and forget me. But in the end..."
Leo sighed after hearing her explanation. He finished her sentence for her, "this happened. Len never got over you, and has been constantly grieving over your death. You hoped that he moved on, but instead he is stuck in the past."
"Yes. And now I regret ever coming back. I fear that I will only hurt him more."
