Chapter 10 - Special Treatment

"I... see..." Lyra muttered loud enough for Beatrice and Ace to hear. She did not really believe them, but she decided to go along with it. After all, she remembered that Len used to smile often. How could Len not smile even once in many years? They did not sound like him.

"So... anything else you want to learn?" Ace asked. Beatrice and Ace were both really excited to continue this conversation; they never really talked much about this stuff before.

"Yes..." Lyra began. She gave them a perplexed look and then asked, "what exactly is the special class? Why is it so secretive?"

Beatrice answered first, "we can't tell you yet. You'll find out tomorrow."

Then Ace saw her confused look once more, and decided to clarify a bit about what Beatrice said. "What we learn is unbelievable, so it's best to see it for yourself rather then us telling you. You would not believe any of it is real until you see it."

"Really?" Lyra said, although she already figured out what they were talking about. She now knew what the class was about, and she began to feel nervous.

"Is the class difficult?" Lyra asked, trying to sound like someone who knew nothing about it that was trying to pry some answers from their mouths.

"Very." Both Beatrice and Ace said. Then Ace tried to clarify some more.

"But even if it is difficult, it is extremely important, and also fun. You'll enjoy it."

Then Beatrice smiled at Lyra and said, "Don't worry about the class at all. I know you'll like it. Okay?"

"Okay." Lyra responded, but now she was nervous, how would she hide her abilities, so that Len would not figure out her identity?

"Oh right!" Beatrice exclaimed. "I just remembered something!" She gave Lyra an excited look. "You just moved in today! Let me help you finish unpacking!"

"Okay..." Lyra responded while a chill came down her spine. She was not sure why she was feeling a little bit scared of Beatrice right now.

"I'll help too!" Ace added, but then Beatrice gave him a look and said, "no! You are not allowed to help."

"Why not?" Ace complained.

"It's a girl's room!" Beatrice responded. Ace had no way to counter her response.

Ace sulked and went back to his room alone, and Beatrice and Lyra went into Lyra's room. Beatrice was surprised when she saw the inside of the room.

"This room... is so beautiful..." she said. She felt that she was unable to talk properly because of how stunned she was by the room. Everything seemed to be in its perfect place.

"Did you..." Beatrice stared at Lyra with amazement visible in her eyes. "Decorate this room...?"

Lyra shook her head. Beatrice was so stunned that it took a while for her to process Lyra's response.

"Then who?" Beatrice asked. She was unable to keep her eyes off of the bed, and the windows, and all the other furniture.

"Len..." Lyra responded simply, But Beatrice did not believe her ears when she heard her.

So she asked again, "who?"

Lyra gave the exact same answer as before, "Len."

"Wait..." Beatrice said, unable to fully process what Lyra was saying. "You're saying that the vice headmaster himself decorated your room?"

Lyra nodded. "That's what Leo told me..."

"Impossible!" Beatrice was saying her thoughts aloud, "Len never does anything like that! It doesn't match his character..."

"But I thought Len likes doing this stuff..." Lyra responded, "He put so much effort into this room after all."

Beatrice has no way to respond to her, she was too shocked by what she was hearing. She sat on the couch and closed her eyes.

"Let me... breathe for a moment..." Beatrice said. She was so confused and lost and her worldview seemed to take s completely different turn today. She needed a break from everything.

However, Beatrice did not expect that the couch not only looked nice, but was also extremely comfortable.

"How much money did the school spend on this room?" She thought to herself, but this time she did not voice her thoughts.

However, Lyra still could tell what she was thinking by those obvious reactions. She sighed and then continued unpacking by herself, although she found that she did not actually need most of what she brought because it was already in the room.

Beatrice was completely unaware that Lyra already finished unpacking because she was too absorbed in her own thoughts.

"I thought I knew both Leo and Len very well, But why does it seem that the new girl, Lyra, knows them far better than I?" Beatrice thought. Then she became confused even more. "Are they purposefully giving Lyra special treatment? Why?"

"They never did such a thing before for any other student, so why do they make such a big deal about Lyra?"

Beatrice thought about it and was unable to come to any conclusive answer.
