Lyra turned around to see who was talking. She saw a girl who looked to be about sixteen or seventeen years old standing outside one of the dorm rooms.
The girl and Lyra made eye contact, and she immediately walked over to the kitchen to say hi.
The girl paused just as she reached the kitchen. "Oh! A new student!" She exclaimed suddenly. "It's been years since someone new joined the special class!"
Lyra smiled at the girl, and her eyes shone. "Hello. I'm Lyra..."
The other girl smiled back. "Oh... sorry! I forgot to introduce myself, I was dazzled by your appearance." The girl reached her hand out to Lyra.
"The name's Beatrice. I'm in my ninth year at Moon Shadow Academy. It's nice to meet you!"
Lyra grabbed her hand and they shook hands. Lyra then responded, "it's nice to meet you as well." Then she glanced at the food that she just finished cooking.
"Would you like some as well?" Lyra asked. She made plenty of extra food, so she knew she was able to share some.
"Sure!" Beatrice responded, but then she shook her head. "But first..." She said, looking at the door to a different room, "I should introduce you to our other classmate."
"Ace! Come out!" She shouted.
The door Beatrice was looking at opened, and a man who looked to be the same age as Beatrice walked out.
He was rubbing his eyes as he walked out, as if he just woke up. "What is it, Beatrice? Why are you..."
Then he saw Lyra. "A new student!" He exclaimed, then he ran up to Lyra and shook her hands excitedly. "It's been so long since there was a new student in our class! My name is Ace! What's your name?"
Beatrice pulled Ace away from Lyra and then turned to face him. "Ace! Don't act like this! You'll scare the new student!"
Lyra laughed when she heard them and then replied, "you don't have to worry about that... it's fine!" Then she smiled at Ace. "My name's Lyra, by the way."
Ace gave Beatrice a look that seemed to say "see?!" Then he smiled and looked around the kitchen.
"Is that food I see! I'm hungry!"
Beatrice have Lyra a sympathetic expression and tried to hold Ace back, but Lyra stopped her.
"You can join us for lunch, if you want." Lyra said, while still laughing silently.
"That's great!" Ace replied, he then sat at the table and began to eat.
"Is he always like this?" Lyra asked Beatrice quietly.
"Yes, He is." Beatrice laughed, and Lyra joined her in laughter.
"You know I can hear you." Ace said while stuffing food into his mouth.
"Don't talk while eating!" Beatrice scolded him.
"Alright! Alright..." Ace said while still stuffing food into his mouth.
Beatrice sighed and Lyra laughed. "You see what I mean?" Beatrice said. This time she did not try to hide what she was saying from Ace.
Then Lyra and Beatrice both sat down with Ace to eat the food before Ace ate it all.
The food was delicious and they all enjoyed it.
"It's so great to have someone here who can cook!" Ace said and then licked his lips.
Beatrice scowled at Ace and Lyra laughed again.
"It's true!" Ace said, looking innocent.
"You two get along really well." Lyra pointed out seeing the two of them fighting.
"What are you talking about!" They both exclaimed at the same time. Then they both blushed and turned their heads away from each other.
Lyra laughed at their reaction and then grabbed all the plates and put them in the sink. She was going to wash them but Ace ran up behind her and insisted that he wash them. After all, he ate food and did not do anything else.
Lyra agreed to let him do the dishes and went to sit on the couch with Beatrice.
She decided to learn more about the special classes. "So... Beatrice. Is Ace in the same year as you?"
Beatrice smiled. "No. Actually he is in the year ahead of mine. At the time he came to this school, he was the only student in the special class."
"It's that hard to get into the special class?" Lyra asked. She was confused, she got in so easily.
"Yes, It is. Do you not remember the interview? The questions were so unbelievably difficult. I didn't know the answers to half of them, but I still got in."
"That's weird," Lyra muttered, "He didn't ask me any difficult questions. The hardest question he asked was for my name..."
"Wait... What!" Beatrice exclaimed, and stared at Lyra in disbelief. She was as confused as Lyra. "No interview questions! At all?!"
Lyra nodded. "None."
"But why?" Beatrice asked Lyra, But Lyra had no answer.
After finishing cleaning the dishes, Ace, Who overheard their conversation, walked over to join into the conversation.
"I think I know the reason."
Both Lyra and Beatrice stared at Ace in shock.
