Chapter 17 - The Great Ancestors & The Web of Lies [Part 2: The First Gathering]

Bluepaw cleared her voice as she meowed, "TigerClan is one of the Great Clans that used to roam this forest. The cats of the nights. They were as big as horses with jet-black stripes. Then, there was LionClan," Before Bluepaw could continue a cat interupted her. "Ooh, I know about them. They had yellow fur and golden manes like rays of the sun!" meowed the cat that was black and white. "Yup, then there was that other one, SpottyClan or something like that." meowed Bluepaw. Then, Rednose came up to them, this is when they noticed that a group of cats surrounded them listening in. "I think you were referring to LeopardClan. Don't you youngsters know you great ancestor history. They were the swiftest cats, huge and golden, spotted with black spots. You can thank them for the speed and hunting skills you now assess." informed Rednose. "Thank them? Why?" asked the young apprentice."There's a trace of all the great cats in every cat today. You're a ShadowClan apprentice, aren't you?" replied Rednose. "U-U-uh, yeah. S-S-six moons." stummered the ShadowClan apprentice. "Badgerpaw? Where are you?" yelled a voice. "Uh, I gotta go. It was nice meeting you!" purred the apprentice as he trotted to the cat who made the voice. "He's very small for six moons." meowed Starpaw. "He sure is." added Bluepaw. Starpaw, Bluepaw, and Rednose knew something wasn't right, but left it and all three knew answers were going to pop up soon. "You two go and see how Graypaw is doing. I'll go see to Firestar." meowed Rednose as he left to Firestar and the two apprentices went ot see Graypaw. When they got there, they saw Graypaw standing on a rock telling story of the two deaths that happened at Sunnyrocks. Many gathered around him. Graypaw yowled, "Red and green along the grass and trees! Blood everywhere! I just fought off a huge warrior and I ran to help Ravenclaw with the one on him. Then, pow! Some cat yelled, 'Oakheart's died!' That's when--" "Who knew Graypaw was such a good storyteller!" whispered Bluepaw to Starpaw as she sat down with her eyes fixed on Graypaw. Starpaw knew something was off on his story compared to Ravenclaw's story. 'Wasn't Oakheart dead because Ravenclaw killed him out of vengeance because of Yellowfang who died because of Oakheart? So, if Ravenclaw was busy with another big RiverClan warrior, and Graypaw was helping him, that means Yellowfang killed Oakheart, which means the RiverClan cats left, by this time me and you left with the prey and Graypaw was leaving too at this point, so who killed Yellowfang?!" yowled Starpaw in a whisper to Bluepaw. Bluepaw turned around and purred, "Sorry, what did what and who did what and who died?" The two cats giggled as Graypaw continued his story. "Then, Yellowfang helped Ravenclaw who was getting attacked by a warrior that was wanting to leave a scar as they retreated, and then--" meowed Graypaw as he stopped to see Ravenclaw staring a cold dead gaze to him. "Oh no! I forgot to tell something to Rednose! What a mouse-brain move of me!" yowled Bluepaw as she left to run to her mentor. Graypaw broke the gaze to finish the story, carefully though. Ravenclaw swiped his claw at a nearby tree and calmed down as he trotted to Starpaw. "How are you enjoying your first gathering, Starpaw?" meowed Ravenclaw as he smiled with his tail flicking her flank telling her, come this way away from Graypaw's story. Someone was in a good mood, he went from mad as fire to soft and nice as a flower. Starpaw didn't want to be rude and followed Ravenclaw. "Uh, it's going fine." replied Starpaw. "Aw, why wasn't it perfect or going great! Something on your mind?" purred Ravenclaw. 'Seriously! Who is this cat?! It can't be the one from her Clan!! He was very good at acting, or was he actually nice?' thought Starpaw as Ravenclaw said that. "I don't know. WindClan isn't here yet, so I'm a bit worried." meowed Starpaw hoping he wouldn't notice that it was him that bothered her. "I'm sorry about that." meowed sadly by Ravenclaw who cat down next to Starpaw in a spot withless cats. "Eh, don't be. Who knows it could get better by the second!" Starpaw cheerfully meowed. "Tell me more." he said keeping the tone of, 'I'm an amazing leader!'. "Well, I-" Starpaw was saying, but was interupted when Ravenclaw leaned forward to lick behind her head and around her shoulders where she couldn't reach. "What are you doing?" asked Starpaw wondering if this is actually Ravenclaw. "I'm trying to share tongues with you!" he yowled. Starpaw put her head to the side, as she didn't know what he was talking about. "Sharing tongues is when cats talk about how their day is like while they groom each other." Ravenclaw meowed trying hard not to say, "You should know this!!!" Starpaw started to relax a bit, but was knew that she should of already knew this. As Ravenclaw kept grooming her, she wondered if he was starting to get nicer. 'I should act along, but not get caught up in his lies!' thought Starpaw. "So, how are you enjoying this gathering?" asked Starpaw as she started to groom him. Ravenclaw stopped grooming her and meowed, "Well, its normal. At least to me." The two cats started to have a conversation. What? Ravenclaw, conversation?! Starpaw thought that too, but couldn't help giving him a chance as she wasn't sure how Yellowfang actually die. Ravenclaw spotted Graypaw and Bluepaw in the crowd a gew cat lengths behind Starpaw. Graypaw was looking at his paws following Bluepaw, while she was trying to find Starpaw. "Well, your apprentice friends are here. You should get going." meowed Ravenclaw. "Alright!" Starpaw meowed as she gave a quick lick behind Ravenclaw's ears. 'I can't just be straight out mean to him. He was being so nice! Ugh, Starpaw! You know that it's just a web of lies. Be nice, but aware!" thought Starpaw to herself as she walked up to join her friends. "Slowly, but slowly, Starpaw. Oh, how fun it is to do have one that is hard to catch! Remind me of that cat Firestar, and he calls himself a leader! Oh, you will fall slowly, everyone will. In my beautiful web, of lies and its people I caught!" mumbled Ravenclaw that only he could hear as he growled while Starpaw walked away. 'You can't try and run forever. Everyone must fall, that's how it it, and always will be!' thought Ravenclaw.
