"I can't believe you Kia handling a woman while she sleeps." Lea told Kia as they rode down the trail following the river in hopes of leaving the valley to get more of a feel on where they are. However, they couldn't tell there was something watching them from a distance in the trees.
"I wasn't handling you. Like I said I wanted to see the medallion that's all there was no other motive." Kia said collectively. I think it's best if I don't tell Lea about the glowing or about Yumi at least for now not until I can know more about it myself.
"Kia be careful the ground feels sort of off somehow like something is in the ground."
"How can you tell?" Kia asked
"Elves have a very strong connection with nature as dwarfs can sense minerals and their quality and stuff like that. Us elves can sense the balance between nature and its wildlife but right now it seems something might be here that sets off the balance as if it doesn't belong here." At that moment the ground began to shake and tremble around the wagon Kia stopped and a long brown thick scaled serpent shot out of the ground and surrounded Kia and Lea leaving them nowhere to retreat.
"Oh, it a baby earth serpent." Kia said slightly interested.
"How can you be so calm the scales on a serpent are to thick to penetrate with any arrows and we would need about six swordsmen to deal with just one". Lea shouted.
"You're just overreacting." At that moment Kia grabbed a blade from a holster around his waist and in a swift motion he throws the blade and penetrates a fleshy opening between two of the scales under the serpent's mouth. After the blade penetrates the fleshy opening the serpent fell to the ground. "There we go."
"What in the serpent fuck was that?" Lea said in absolute shock.
Kia got up and walked to the serpent's head. "A baby earth serpent has a small nerve under its mouth and hitting that nerve dead center caused the serpent to pass out now we can finish it off without problem. Luckily the serpent was a child and didn't have all of its scales just yet." At that moment Kia took his dagger and drove it through the head of the serpent killing it in one swell swoop. "Shall we get going if I'm not mistaken, we should only be a few hours out till we get to the village."
"Yes, let's go I guess." Lea said kind of confused. Who are you Kia and what is your real story?
"What do you think Lea?"
"What do you mean?" Lea said snapping out of her train of thought.
"What do you think an earth serpent is doing all the way out here they are usually in desert like environments." Kia said trying to find an answer.
"I'm not sure. First was the dragon and now this." Lea said puzzled. "Could it be a lack of food or something along those lines?"
"Lack of food would make sense however the nearest desert is a week away by wagon. If it was because of a lack of food it would have stopped moving this way a long time ago. I feel that there is potentially a bigger reasoning behind it."
"We can talk more about it later first things first we need to get to the elf tribe."
