Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The start of a new story

"Kia? Kia? Come on wake up already we need to head to the village." Lea said gently shaking Kia to wake him. He looks really peaceful laying there. As Lea looked at Kia with soft eyes, she slowly laid right next to him. As she looked at Kia, she noticed a cut running from his neck down his shirt. As she slowly ran her finger down the scar Kia's eyes opened.

"Good morning?" Kia said with a questioning look on his face. "May I ask what you're doing Lea?"

"IT'S NOTHING WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU PERVERT!" Lea shouted out in a panic.

"How am I the pervert you're the one laying next to me with your hand on my chest while I sleep!" Kia said defensively

"Whatever just get up we need to get going if you want to meet up with the mayor in the village of Tarken before nightfall."

"Okay then let's get going is the wagon ready?"

"What do I look like to you a slave?"

No but you do look like a noble bum to me. "Fine can you just go check if the horses are fed and ready to be strapped up please."

"Okay I guess I can." At that moment Lea stood back up and left through the leaf like door.

As Kia got up and put on his armor, he couldn't help but think about the woman he saw in his dream that said she was his mother. Man, this trip is going to get really weird isn't it? Wait did she say Tarken? Looks like this is going to be a long trip after all. At that moment Kia stood up and walked out of the building with his dagger strapped to his waist and the leather armor he had been given by the elves he stood there in amazement at how fast the elves rebuilt their village. The trees shot into the sky allowing little beams of light to shoot through the leaves and branches. Along the trunks hung bridges and platforms with houses on top. As Kia looked down, he saw the deer and wildlife walking around the grounds returning to make new homes with the elves. It's really interesting animals love the elves not only because they worship nature but they don't kill animals unless it is severely needed but most of all they will never eat animals. He then noticed Lea loading into the wagon and the horses being strapped in by some elves with bows on their back. Kia with a slight grin ran down the stairs to the ground and towards Lea and the wagon ready to set off and discover more of the world.

As Kia jumped into the wagon, they set off to Tarken to meet with the mayor. "Lea can you go into the back and check how much money we have? We should try to plan out how much we got before we burn through it all." As Lea jumped to the back of the wagon to count the cash and to also check inventory Kia took the time to check for the book his mentor had given him. He slid his hand under the seat into a hidden cubby that he had put in order to hide important cargo. He then pulled out a white book with silver lining around the border. In the middle of the book it housed a yellow gem with more silver metal bent over the gem to hold it in place. As Kia pressed his palm against the gem, he thought to himself. Why am I listening to a dream just a figment of my imagination? Most of all why is this book so important not just to her but also my mentor he treasured it and all that is inside are just some stories about the sun spirit and a bunch of blank spots. As Kia opened the book, he noticed the words begin to move and fade out as well as new words fill in the blank with some unusual pictures beside them. This has never happened before.

On the first page however, it stayed the same as it did before. It read out "With the sun spirit returning to its realm his daughter chose to stay behind. She lived doing a lot of traveling and meeting millions of people helping them and guiding lost souls back to the right path. During this time, she found a man with great power and vast knowledge. The two souls were brought together and had a child. This child was the first to possess more power than his mother or his father. By the time the daughter of the sun spirit could feel truly at peace. The Great War had started with the child's father nowhere to be seen their home was attacked and with his mother determined to protect her son she used her power to bless him and protect him through the attack. While as for her she was critically injured and was forced to return to the spirit realm to rebuild her strength. During this time the father was still nowhere to be seen and the son was to be raised by a man the mother felt would give her boy a happy life."

Why does that sound so familiar? Let's not hang too much on it. What do these new pages say. As Kia flipped through the book, he began to notice something very strange about this book and its contents. These are spells and light ones at that. Wait does that mean this book is…

"A grimoire? Where did you get that?" Lea said looking over Kia's shoulder.

"Son of a bitch! Why are you acting so sneaky? You scared the hell out of me! Wait a second can you read this?" Kia asked confused.

"Of course, I can elves specialize in light magic. How grimoire works is if you can control that form of magic then you are capable of reading those kinds of grimoires however other magic users can't." As Lea stood there smirking, she then had a shocking expression come over her. "Wait are you saying you can read this grimoire?"

"Actually, starting just a little bit ago I can. Until now it just looked like a bunch of stories."

How interesting what else are you hiding Kia? "Then you have the ability to use light magic if you would like me to, I can help you learn it and also learn everything in that grimoire of yours. However, don't let anyone learn about that grimoire a lot of people would kill for a grimoire mainly because of the power it can give people." Lea said with a very serious expression on her face.

"Okay I will keep this a secret."

"Good well we better be getting ready. We are almost in the town and we only have a thousand joules. Taking a guess that work hasn't been very profitable."

"I wonder why it's not like I was dragged out with an elf on an adventure or anything. Besides I barely charge people since money wasn't very important to me."

"Well we may have to look into joining a guild then just to make a bit of extra cash for living." Lea said confidently.

At that moment the gates to Tarken appeared before them towering over them with archers along the top and a raised metal gate for in case of emergencies.

"Your right." A guild is where people can go to get missions and quests to make money for themselves. In my town we had no need for a guild since I did what anyone needed as they requested it because of that a guild wouldn't be able to get any customers. When inside a guild each guild can have different intentions for example a criminal guild love to cause trouble and take dirty jobs in fact they are banned in the majority of towns since they can't be controlled. As for other guilds they can vary some guilds only do specific jobs others can focus on almost any job they are given. Kia looked at Lea "Before visiting a guild we should deal with what we originally came here to do."

"Agreed, off to the mayor's office."
