Chapter 4 - Spirit Roots (1)

Long Yian helped her new daughter change into nice light blue Garments and comb her hair.

"Mother will you name me then ?" The child spoke out as she looked at herself in the mirror. Her mother showed no disgust towards her appearance when dressing her so she felt a bit relieved. The body she currently held would take some time to get better as she not only felt weak but unstable. She couldn't help but be a little saddened that she'd look like this for a while.

Noticing her sad expression because of her situation Long Yian finished her braids before taking out the food she had bought earlier. It was light on the stomach as something to strong would make the child throw up.

She looked as the child took the spoon despite her shaky hands and began to eat. Her bright eyes could entrap anyone who looked her way and Long Yian couldn't help but smile.

"Your name will be Long Daiyu. And if your worried about your body and looks ill help you fix them in no time. Your quite lucky to have a mom who's a strong cultivator" she said as she pointed at herself with enthusiasm.

Long Daiyu tilted her head a bit as she had a spoon full of porridge before speaking. "What's a cultivator?"

"A cultivator is a person who practices martial arts and qi to reach immortality. The stronger your Qi and martial arts get the more you upgrade your body which lets you live more years than the regular person."

"How old is mommy then ?" Long Daiyu said as she took another spoonful of food. She was quite a glutton when it came to good foods.

"Mommy is only 803 years old" Long Yian said with a proud smile. Her daughter on the other hand started chocking. She couldn't believe in this world people lived that long.

Once she took down the food properly she asked " then mommy is saying I can live that long too?"

Long Yian laughed nervously " only people born with spirit roots can practice the way to immortality. People who have roots are very rare. And the possibility is 1 in 10,000."

"How can you check if one has a spirit root ?"

" you have to use an array that will show your root"

"Then mommy should try it on me. If I don't have one then it's okay. Yu'er will become a merchant" she said while smiling. Her smile was genuine and Long Yian breathed a sigh of relief. She couldn't get her daughters hopes up.

Long Yian stepped back and using spirit stones with certain carved symbols in them she began to make the array while yu'er finished her porridge.

Yu'er was curious about the cultivators her mom spoke of. She didn't think the heavens would send her to another world and not allow her to learn the path to immortality. And even if they did that, she didn't mind as long as she lived a good life under her mother.

Soon the array was made and a bright light emitted from the beautiful patten on the floor.

"Yu'er step inside."

As told she stood and wobbled as she made her way into the array. Her body screamed in pain with every step but if she didn't do as told, her mother would have to go get her and she didn't want to be a burden. Soon she made her way into the array and say down beside her mom.

"Yu'er I'll be sending some of my Qi into your body. If you have spirit roots the process to open up your Mediteranians will begin automatically and it'll hurt. There's a small possibility for that, but if it does happen you must be sure to hold on until the end. Or else you'll damage your body further than it already is."

"En, Yu'er understands !"

Long Yian looked at the small girl before her. The lightning back there must be a sign she has at least some potential for martial arts but she must always make sure first. If her child has potential she'll have to walk into the world of martial artist that's bloody and dangerous, but if she doesn't she'll live a short life and she'll die and age before her eyes.

Both in a mother's eyes would sting. However, the gods have never done anything unnecessary.

With that thought Long Yian began to send a steady stream of Qi into her daughter.
