As Long Yian held the child in her arms she could help but feel how light she was. She'd taken a look at her bones and she turned out to be the age of 4. Looking at her she couldn't help but remember her time in the slums as well. Dianxi may be rich, but the emperor was lecherous and did not focus entirely on its citizens. He submitted to the heavenly herbs sect for protection and enjoys a life full of lavish foods and women.
Children and people starving to death wasn't a rare occurrence. Just as she was nearing the exit a huge shadow loomed over her. She stopped in front of a demonic beast never identified before. It emitted a sense of authority with its stare as if looking down on the world. Its scales were like glass yet held color with every reflection, and if Long Yian didn't know any better she would have thought this was a majestic being.
"The child you hold in your arms is a gift went by heaven. Only demon beast know that the creation of humanity began with black lightning." it suddenly spoke out.
Long Yian narrowed her eyes as only demonic beast who have evolved into spirit beast can talk. Spirit beasts are very rare as they can evolve into humans after their cultivation has reached the apex. They can then ascend and become gods themselves. It's very hard for demonic beast to reach enlightenment as their instincts lead them down the path of a beasts who knows nothing more but killing. This only proves that demonic beast who evolve on their own are extremely dangerous.
"so what is your purpose?" she asked. She had just met the child a second ago yet felt a connection to it. She couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous she was. The child reminded her of her past and if she could help her even a little she would. If she fell into the demonic beasts hands they would either use her as a tool against humanity or eat her. Both did not benefit the child at all so as Queen Yama she would protect her.
"She was in the Dark void forest, so she's the demonic creatures belonging." It replied with a sneer.
" But she is human"
"your opinion doesn't matter anyways, since the strong always get what they want!" as soon as it spoke the words it jumped towards both of them with a vicious smile in its dark obsidian eyes.
It may have achieved enlightenment but it was still a beast. Though smarter, instinct always wins. It had only told her about the demon beast secret of black lightning, because it had deemed her a dead woman from the beginning. However it did not expect to be facing Queen Yama herself.
Long Yian used her left hand to release a technique unique to her. A hand palm smashed down on the beast with a pressure that sunk it into the ground. After throwing out her move Long Yian didn't waste a second and used a teleportation paper to escape as quick as possible. She knew she could face the demonic beast, however its aim was the child in her hands. She was not used to having to protect and fight to her fullest at the same time.
Instead of the nearest town she found herself in a large city with many commoners. She carried the girl in her arms to an expensive hotel and lay her down on the bed to rest before setting an array as to not allow her to leave while she went and bought supplies for her.
A practitioner does not need food or water as the mortal barriers are broken while you increase your strength. However, the child is extremely malnourished and pills won't satisfy her. Throughout the town Long Yian was glad not many people knew her appearance with a thin veil on as she would cause a commotion. People had even started to say that anyone who came across her would die because she was hideous. She made sure to get the child clothes, proper food, ointments, and medicine before heading back. As she opened the store she found the child sitting up looking at her in confusion.
