Chapter 59 - Chapter 59: Stopped

The rest of us followed his line of sight to the other being in the sky. I gasped as soon as I saw what it was. The light of the now rising sun in the distance reflected off of the large wings of the being, one black and one white. It was another fallen angel. The only fallen angel I've ever seen was Ikko, so the thought that there was more than one surprised me even though it was obvious.

Arine turned to Ikko who hadn't looked away since he said the word Crucifix under his breath. "Ikko? Do you know him?" Ikko snapped back into reality, and his eyes widened realizing something. "Yes." He turned around to face us. "I'll take care of this. He's most likely here to slow us down. All you have to do is find a way around him." He then turned to Sythyon. "And under no circumstances let him see Silvera's soul." Sythyon nodded and I got uneasy. "Why? W-What would happen?" Ikko's expression was extremely serious. "Nothing good."

Before I could question further, Sythyon put his hand over my face covering my eyes. Though I could still see a little through the gaps in between his fingers enough to tell what was going on. Suddenly in an instant, the being who Ikko called Crucifix was much closer than I anticipated. A large corrupted celestial bow and arrow appeared in his hands with a flash of both black and white lightning.

He shot the electric bow with no hesitation, the arrow flying at an incredible speed leaving a trail of light and dark behind it as it hurdled right towards me. I gasped not knowing how to react when Ikko flew in front of me deflecting the arrow with his own lightning. It shot out of his hands with extreme force, so bright and much more powerful than when I usually saw Ikko preform magic.

But even with that much amount of power, it only just barely stopped the arrow in the time before it reached us. The arrow disappeared and Ikko put his hands down looking up at Crucifix irritatingly. I was shocked.

'Ikko wasn't lying when he said he was at his best now, but it took that much magic to deflect an arrow like that? Just how powerful is this fallen angel?!' I thought nervously tightening my grip on Sythyon's arm. Crucifix then laughed as he came to a stop a short distance away from us.

"I assume you're the brother and other annoyances I'm supposed to stall? Though I would've never expected that Lothor's brother is the king of the underworld, and one of the annoyances is my long lost friend Ikko. You learn something new everyday!" Ikko glared at him. "Call me that again, and I will shoot a lightning bolt right through that messed up head of yours!"

Crucifix shook his head and smiled playfully. "Don't tell me you're still mad after all these years?" Ikko didn't respond and I was extremely confused of how these two knew each other. I realized that I had no time to find out and waved to Arine as suttle as possible so that Crucifix wouldn't notice. Arine got the hint and moved closer so it would be easier to escape.

I then tried to think of a distraction. 'Ikko said he'd take care of it, he can't go with us anyway since Atlantis is underwater. He'll be fine. I trust him. Right now, we have to be focusing on getting around Crucifix.' Crucifix then spoke again, a little bored. "Alright. I'm not too big on the 'try to not kill them' deal, so."

Suddenly, he waved his hand creating a white line that appeared in between Crucifix and us, stretching as far as the eye could see. We all gave him a confused look and he smiled like a puppet master about to play with his toys. "Cross this line, and you give me permission to kill you."

None of us knew what to say for a moment. It was obvious that he was powerful enough to, which meant that we were trapped. Ikko then smirked, hardly changing his previous annoyed expression. "Stop acting so high up. I know you're not as powerful as you let on. The only reason we can't cross this line right now is because of that celestial bow you stole. You're pretty much nothing without it."

A bundle of electric arrows appeared behind Crucifix's back with a strap around his torso. He didn't look at Ikko as he pulled one out and into the bow. "And yet, here I have it." It was true, as long as he had that bow we were screwed.

I tried to come up with a plan but before I could think of anything, Sythyon crossed the line. "Gah!! What are you doing??!!" I shouted. Sythyon completely crossed the line and rolled his eyes. "I'd love to see him try to kill me." I paused for a second. 'That's right. There's no doubt in the world that Sythyon wouldn't die so easily to something like this. I don't know how that could've slipped my mind. But... I hope he knows he just gave Crucifix permission to kill me too..!'

Crucifix looked at him considering something, then smiled evilly again. "Sure I can't kill you; I honestly don't even care if you get past me, but that still doesn't mean that I can't hurt you!" In a split second, he shot the bow and the arrow immediately impaled Sythyon through his left shoulder, the arrow going straight through him without losing speed at all.

His hand uncovered my face and he jolted back. "Ah!" I turned in his arms panicked. "Sythyon!" But as soon as I saw the wound, it had completely healed in a second. I froze in shock and Sythyon corrected his balance easily. He raised an eyebrow unamused. "You're right, that was just as painful as a pinch in the shoulder. Keep shooting and it might end up feeling like a poke."

In the next moment I had completely forgotten what Ikko said and turned around, accidentally making eye contact with Crucifix. It happened so fast and was way too late before I realized the mistake I made. Sythyon covered my face again quickly hoping he didn't notice, but Crucifix's expression had already frozen in surprise.

It felt like forever before he moved again. His mouth then widened into a smile that was completely different than the others. This one was insane. This one had no humanity behind it, and made him look like he had completely lost his mind. It was pure evil if it could be put into an expression.

His pupils constricted and his teeth appeared sharper than they were before, and his tongue ran across his upper lip. "Fine then... I'll kill her instead..." His voice was full of hunger and he looked at me like something he could sink his teeth into. 'Ahhh!! That is the scariest thing I've ever heard!! Why did I have to turn around??!! Is he going to eat me??!!' Sythyon glared at him intensely. "So you're one of those, are you?" Crucifix laughed. "I don't care if you try to kill me. I won't stop now until that humans soul and blood are running down my throat!"
