Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: Blood Dose

Crucifix then shot another arrow right at me. I screamed but Sythyon deflected it with a shield and it ricocheted into the water. Sythyon was pissed now. "If you dare try to hurt her again, I won't hesitate to kill you in a second. You know I can." He didn't bother covering my face now since Crucifix had already seen my soul.

Crucifix was only looking at me as he retrieved another arrow from behind his back and blew slightly on it. The arrow then turned pitch black and he finally looked at Sythyon. "Yes I do. But it all depends on how fast your reflexes are." He pointed the arrow at me again and the shield appeared in front of me, but at the last second Crucifix changed the aim of the arrow and shot it right through Sythyon's neck. "A-h."

Though this time the arrow turned into ash after it came out the other side. He wasn't able to yell, but I knew that this one hurt way more than the last. "Sythyon!" The wound healed just like before, but there was a new red crack in his skin where the arrow hit and his irises started to disappear.

I froze as I felt a hand being placed on my neck from behind. Crucifix's laugh echoed in my head as I was pulled from Sythyon's arms. "Too slow." My heart started pounding out of my chest in fear as I had no time to struggle before he faced me towards him. Crucifix was about to take a bite out of my neck when he suddenly stopped. "Ah!" He pulled away in pain and dropped me. I gasped as I fell towards the ocean and heard Arine calling my name, but I could only wonder what happened and what made him yell.

I looked up and saw that Ikko had crossed the line and had bitten Crucifix's neck before he could bite mine. 'Wow, that is such an Ikko move.' I thought trying to brace myself for the cold that was about to envelop me.

I looked back up at Sythyon and saw that he was holding his head, trying to shake off whatever had taken over him, and was struggling to do so. But he managed to point his hand down, shooting a small amount of black lightning at me. My eyes widened and I covered my face knowing I was about to hit the water. The magic reached me before the ocean did, but to my surprise, it didn't hurt at all, nor did I feel the cold sting of water for several seconds.

I slowly removed my hands to see that I was hovering above the calm waves below me. I was confused to what had broken my fall. I looked behind me and almost screamed at the sight behind my back. Apparently the small amount of magic Sythyon had shot to me gave me a beautiful set of pink fairy wings that blended to purple at the ends. They fluttered gracefully as I corrected my balance to be vertical. I was speechless.

I forgot how to move and could only stare at them admiring, and a little freaked out. I then saw Arine catch up to me and stop just as surprised as I was. "S-Silvera! Y-You have-?" I turned to him my eyes still wide. "Uh-huh." He started to blush the longer he stared at them and turned his gaze away nervously. "T-They're really beautiful... I-I'm sorry I couldn't get here sooner. Are you okay?"

I processed his question wondering that myself. "Okay? I'm wonderful!! I have wings! I have wings!" I then became unsteady for a moment. "...Um, how do I fly up?" Arine looked back to me holding in his laughter. I gave him an annoyed look. "Hey! Don't laugh! I have no idea how to work these things!"

Arine chuckled a moment. "I know, It's just cute. All you have to do is speed them up." I glared at him a moment before doing what he said, but to my surprise I went higher than I expected, and I immediately went passed the others at super speed. "Gah!" I tried to slow down but ended up stopping all together and landing back in Sythyon's arms. "Oof!"

I saw that his irises were back to normal and he seemed to have fought off whatever that black arrow caused him. He smirked at me. "I guess giving you extra fast wings was both a smart and stupid decision." I smiled and hugged him excitedly fluttering my wings. "I love them! I love them! I love them! Thank you!" I pulled away suddenly worried. "Wait, are you okay?! What happened to you?!"

He crossed his arms. "I was poisoned. It took away my sight and made my head throb in severe pain. I'm fine now, but I'm going to have one earthquake of a headache when I return to my normal form."

Before I could answer my attention was taken back to Ikko and Crucifix. Crucifix was trying his hardest to get Ikko to unlock his jaws from his neck. He finally was able to get him off and Ikko wiped his face of Crucifix's blood. "So many flavors. It was like I drained over a hundred creatures at once."

I turned to Sythyon. "What does that mean?" Sythyon turned to me hesitating on where to start. "Angels and demons don't have souls so our bodies are technically dead. Which means that our hearts don't pump unless we eat one. We can survive without eating, but we become weaker if we don't. And we drink blood because when we do eat a soul, our hearts have something to pump. So in a way, none of our blood is actually ours."

I blinked. "Gross... So if that's the case, then why don't you get a ton of blood from other demons every time?" Sythyon raised an eyebrow. "Because that would be considered cannibalism." I suddenly felt awkward. "Oh." Sythyon looked over to Ikko. "Plus, the demons and angels who do that usually get severely addicted. Ikko must really love you if he's willing to risk that." I looked back to them worried. "...Addicted?"

Crucifix then started to yell in anger. "You bastard! Do you know how much you sucked out of me?!" Ikko nodded. "It must've been a lot because I feel so awesome right now!" Crucifix held the bite on his neck to prevent anymore blood from leaving and started to shake in anger.

Ikko then turned to me and Sythyon. "Leave now! Before he tries to eat Silvera again!" I realized that we could get away now and Sythyon took me in his arms again. "I'll teleport farther away." I stopped him before he did. "Wait, what about Arine?!" Arine then came up waving for us to go. "There's no time! We know which direction to go, we'll meet you there!" Crucifix turned around and I nodded at Arine right before Sythyon and I disappeared into black magic.

Sythyon and Silvera teleported away right before Crucifix could get to them. He looked back at Ikko in anger. "Why did you save a human? Fallen angels aren't supposed to care about anything but themselves. Hell! Even angels aren't supposed to care about anything but themselves! And yet here we meet again, fighting over a human."
