Clyde bolted up straight from his bed and woke up with his face wet with his own tears. He subconsciously touched his necklace as soon as he woke up.
It was the same necklace that Miyara wore before her death and it was the only thing that he managed to salvage from her.
The blaring sound of his TV played in the background as it was left active while she was drowsing since he unknowingly fell asleep on the sofa while watching his favorite show on Netflix.
Looking around him, he also noticed that the sun had already departed and it was already dark outside and so he stood up from his seat and opened the door in his veranda, wide enough to let the cold draft of the night enter his living room.
He was just about to step outside the house when a small voice sounded behind him and called him out of the blue.
"Where are you going, master???"
It was his sidekick/ pet, Naomi.
Naomi was a black Norwegian cat and because she was a pet of a warlock, he was given the ability to speak.
"I am off to catch some fresh air outside, would you like to come and join me for a walk?"
"Nah, I'm good."
Naomi, the talking cat, declined his master's invitation right away, then added afterward.
"Why master, did you dream about her again?"
Naomi inquired back out of concern only to be snubbed by his master. He left without even bothering to look back and giving his pet an answer.
As Clyde started to walk outside to get some fresh air just like what he initially intended, he noticed that there were no stars visible in the night sky.
"Hmm... It seemed that it is about to rain."
And as if on cue, as though the sky was only waiting for him to say the magic word, just right on time after he stated his observation, the rain started to pour heavily from the clouds.
"Eh????"
The warlock scratched the back of his head when he was caught in the middle of the rain.
"Last time I check, I did not have the means to affect the weather. Did I mutate after taking a nap????"
He joked to himself; but despite the rain, he did not rush out to look for cover and instead remained standing in the same spot, drenched by the rainwater.
He let the rain pour on him hoping that it would at least wash away the emptiness that he was feeling at that night. The water dripped down to his handsome face and his wet hair also dropped down to cover his eyes.
Also, for some unknown reason, Clyde felt like walking a bit more and so after a short while, he continued to wander around the empty road without minding the rain at all
It did not take that long for him to reach a bridge, and because of the fog, the other party could hardly see past through his nose.
The warlock took a wand out from his pocket and wave it in the air.
"FOS"
The top of his wand lit up as soon as he was done chanting his spell. He now had his instant flashlight!
But just when he was about to turn around, a loud rumbling sound of thunder echoed in that night and it caught him off guard and his shock made him lost his balance in the process.
Clyde tried to make a maneuver so as to prevent himself from completely falling but as if luck was not on his side that night, he stepped on something slippery and so he was longer able to regain his footing anymore.
As though everything happened in slow motion, Clyde found himself falling from the bridge.
He readied his wand ready to cast a spell, yet just when he was about chant the spell, a pale hand grabbed him.
"HOLD ON! Don't you dare let go of my hand, you stupid bastard!"
The lady said as she tried her best to pull Clyde upward.
There was no way that Clyde could use his magic now that there was a nonmagic woman before him. So left with no other choice, he abandoned the thought of using magic to save himself in the situation.
What he did instead was he put his wand in between his lips so that he could use both of his hands to hold on to something.
"Whatever problem you've got. You have no right to kill yourself! All of us were having our own worries. Killing yourself will not gonna solve any of your problems!"
"Errr???? Me? Killing myself?? Dream on! Why would I even do that in the first place?? I am not that bored yet to try to kill myself. I am just merely trying to relax."
That was what Clyde was saying in his mind, but in reality, all he did was to mumble incoherent mutterings.
He did nothing and just let the girl do her act of goodwill. The other party was clearly trying to be a good Samaritan and so as cooperative, as he was, the warlock decided to play along with her and gave her the benefit for the doubt
However, after a short while, Clyde noticed that the girl was no longer able to take on his weight. Rather than pulling him upward, the other party was being dragged by him instead!
"MMMMMM!"
[Let me go!]
He said. But, of course, the lady did not understand what he was trying to say. Firstly because the wind was too strong for her to hear him at all, and secondly, he was just mumbling because his wand was still held in between his lips.
Clyde could not understand the reason why the lady was being adamant of helping him despite knowing the danger that she was putting herself with. She clearly did not have the strength to pull him yet she was still insisting on pulling him.
But what the other party did afterward was something that he did not expect. Mustering all her strength, the lady made use of her own momentum to propel him upward.
In a way, she was successful in pulling Clyde into safety. But in exchange for that, she was the one who lost her balance and completely fell on the water.
Talking about, who saved who???
