We were on ALERT. Keeping back. Waiting for the first strike. Didn't have to wait long before the first lunge. De'rax easily blocked. They were testing us as we were them. Learning each other. It was a dance as we worked our way around the arena. There was booing in the stands as this continued. They wanted to see blood they wanted to see death.
I saw a opportune moment and I took it. I latched onto a wrist that shot out to attack. I heard a grunt as I snapped the bone. I opened my mouth and released the awful appendage. I mean awful. Wishing I had mouth wash.
The appendage was pulled into the owners body as it continued to bleed. That was the proverbial ringing of the bell. It was fast and furious as the match sped up. There was cuts appearing on all of us. Slowly bleeding out we were running out of energy. Had to find a way to finish this.
I had patience but it was slowly dwindling. So was my stamina when De'rax had an chance and he took it. Slicing clean through the neck of one it fell blood pooling slowly around the body. The second one stopped. It was in shock. I took advantage of the shock and put it out of its misery.
Standing there next to De'rax covered in sweat and a mixture of blood I wanted to collapse. Before I could De'rax grabbed my neck holding me steady.
"There you have it. You have seen it all and seen it here. An Agrithian and a Dire wolf have won against the reigning champions the Jlaciopes. That is end of this tics matches. Come back next tic to see who will win."
As the announcer stopped Grib appears in fron to us." I have seen what it is to be you De'rax. Now I offer again to buy the Wolf."
De'rax stood tall and spoke like he hadn't just gone through a match and was exhausted.
" I said it once Grib and I will say it once more. My partner is not for sale. You ask me again I will be forced to deal with you another way. "
Grib looked perplexed. I don't think he had ever been told no. He looked like a kid about to have a tantrum because his daddy told him he couldn't have the toy.
" Very well I will not ask again. "
That didnt sound good. I smelled a trap being cooked up. However my body was to tired for my brain to think about it more.
"May my partner and I leave now?"
"I suppose you may. Go through the door there and you will be in front of your pod."
Not trusting Grib farther than we could throw him. De'rax and I slowly backed up through the door.
As soon as it shut and we were on the landing pad I was blasted with Griffin and Fi'lo screams.
" Kyra answer me! Please! "
" You can not be dead. I can still feel your mind."
I shook my head as they kept going. I had to scream back just to get some peace.
"STOP! We are coming back to the ship. We will tell all when we get there now please can I have no more screams."
Fi'lo answered back. "Glad to know your okay. I knew you were alive but did not know if you were hurt."
"Yes Fi'lo we are alive. See you back at the ship."
I laid my head on De'rax lap as the computer took us back to the ship. I kept my eyes open just barely. I needed to see the rest of this through. That included telling the men what had happened while we were on the surface.
The pod slid into the bay and settled. De'rax and I opened the hatch and stepped out into chaos.
"WHAT IN THE ATROS IS GOING ON HERE!"
De'rax shouted and everyone froze. Not for long before they came to and rushed us. We were grabbed and carried to De'rax quarters.
"Happy to have you alive lord General. We realize by the sight of you that a cleanse and sleep is what you need. While you do that I will set a course back for home. Now that your safe the story can wait."
With those words Argo and everyone stepped out. The only sound to be heard was the closing and locking of the door.
I looked at De'rax." You first"
He sighs. "No its best if we go together it looks like your fur will need a good scrubbing."
I paled. Well at least I think I did. Couldn't see it through my fur. I understand he was correct but oh boy.
