I was in my head as we walked to the bridge. I was thinking of what ifs. What if I hadn't told him. What if instead I had just shifted in front if him. What if he had still laughed at me. My mind was going around and around. When we arrived at the bridge I wasn't any closer to a result than before. I was giving myself a headache.
"Now that I have you all here. Kyra and I will go down then a little later Fi'lo will go down as a trader. Griffin will stay on board here to keep in contact with Kyra. Who then in turn can relay messages back and forth between all parties. Now does anyone have any questions?"
Nobody said anything as a few minutes past De'rax continued.
"Now then. I guess we are ready to go down. Permission came in a few minutes ago."
I followed De'rax to the pod taking us to the surface. "I know I told you what goes on the surface but please try not to show any major disgust over what you see. I know it is something new you never seen before probably not something you will see again but you will insult them and then his last thing we need."
I nodded my head in understanding. I knew there were many things that were different than what I was used to. To get disgusted or revolted by how another species behaves is not the best way to stay out of trouble. I would not want then to come to my planet and do the same. Although I don't ever seen them going to my planet. I giggled to myself making sure De'rax didn't hear me.
As we landed on the surface it was not something I was expecting to see. I expected a cities like on Agris. What I got was the complete opposite. It was like earth in history. Where the houses and buildings were made if wood and dirt. Thrown together haphazardly making a semblance of order. It baffled me that a species could be almost as backwards as the agrithians were forwards.
I saw what De'rax had warned me I would see. They were out in the open doing exactly that. I had to look away. Before my face showed what I felt. I leaned into De'rax as we followed the muddy path to a bigger building near the end. It was made a little better than the others. Looking like it was a building of past accomplishments. At the door were two larger sized Gribnopks. They took a look at De'rax and waved him forward. They stopped me before I got another step. De'rax halted and turned around eyeing the Gribnopk guards.
"The wolf stays with me." He all but growled the order.
Both guards froze and finally waved me through. I guess they decided that tangling with De'rax was a bad idea.
He grabbed my neck as we continued through a hallway to another door with guards. This time they didn't stop me as I walked with De'rax. We stepped into a larger sized office space with a Gribnopk seated behind a massive desk. I had to hold in a giggle but my sarcastic comment escaped.
"Is the desk big enough? I think someone is compensating for something."
With those words De'rax hand tightened on my neck. In warning of watching what I say. Even though I think he forgot he was the only one who could hear me. I snorted and that got me a side eye from him.
His gazed fixed on the Gribnopk behind the desk. "You look well Grib. To well for someone to be having issues with the shipping."
I heard a rusty scraping sound which I realized was Grib laughing. I forced myself not to cover my ears at the horrible sound.
"It must have been enough to get the great general personally here to see me."
"Enough with the talk Grib what did you want?"
Grib stared at De'rax. His eyes closing to slits as he faced him.
"I wanted to see what it was that I had missed purchasing."
De'rax glanced down at me not taking his eyes off of Grib long. "So it was you who was bidding on the wolf?"
"I did not want the wolf. I wanted the companion. I have no use for males."
De'rax hand flexed in my fur. This time I agreed with the silent comment. As much as it irritated me I kept silent on being named a male again.
"What would you have done with the wolf if you only wanted the companion?"
"I would have sold it to another. I only wanted the woman. She would have made a nice addition to my female breeders. I can always use more and I heard humans are of good breeding stock."
I had to hold my growl back at the mention of what he had wanted Caylee for. "Over my dead body would he do that to her."
"He did not get her nor did he get you. Just remember that."
I swallowed at his reminder of who bought me. I had to sigh in relief to that.
