Chereads / I'm The Alpha's Assassin Mate / Chapter 2 - The New Information

Chapter 2 - The New Information

We had been driving for nearly three hours and Sebastian had been asleep for over two hours, when I saw a McDonald's approaching.

"Wakey, wakey." I say soothingly whilst shaking my brother awake.

"Hmm... What do you want?" He asks groggily.

"McDonald's is coming up."

"Pancakes with syrup and fruit and a latte please." He mumbles.

"No. We're going in or you can stay hungry." I say defiantly.

"Fine."

"Good, 'cause we're here." I reply smugly.

When we were out of the car and the car was locked, we headed to the counter to order our food. The cashier looked at Sebastian with lust in her eyes.

"Hello, welcome to McDonald's. How can I help you?" She asked in her fake high pitched cheery voice.

"Hi, can we please have, two boxes of pancakes with syrup, some fruit, no strawberries, and two lattes, one of them a double shot?" I reply.

"Yep, will that be all?"

"Yea-" I start to say.

"Wait, can we have some cookies please?" Sebastian asks me.

"Fine, bro, but you're asking the wrong person, I don't work here."

"Oh right." He says and turns to the cashier. "We'd also like some cookies."

"Okay. That will be $20.62. Is this to go?"

"No, we'll be eating in." I reply handing her the money.

"Alright go take a seat and your food will be brought over soon."

"Thanks." I mutter, while walking away.

When Sebastian and I are seated I do a quick scan of the room, whilst Sebastian pulls his phone out to do some weird stuff on it.

"Seby, your 3 o'clock." I whisper briskly.

He looks over to see Randolph Stoner and Ramona Stoner.

"Shit. I guess we're in Wintersville then."

I didn't get a chance to reply, as the waitress chose to bring our order over. As she did so she slipped Sebastian her number on a napkin. I give her a nod as my thanks.

As soon as she was gone, I snort. "Do you keep all of the numbers women slip you?"

"Yeah. Don't you keep all yours?" He asks me.

"Well, not really."

"Why not? They're like trophies."

"Most of them are on napkins, so I accidentally throw them away or leave them at the table." As I say this I feel a blush creep onto my face.

"Ha. Those poor guys. You must have crushed their hearts." He tries to say in mock despair, but fails at the end when he bursts out laughing, and since I've been holding back laughter, I join in.

When our laughter died down it became my turn to talk. "God, I've missed times like this. Now eat." I finish my sentence off demandingly.

"Look here Beth, you're only older than me by 20 minutes, but, because I'm hungry I will eat." He says grumpily.

"Yo, whatever man." I say. Having lost interest in the conversation, I start eating.

Fifteen minutes later, I'm done with my breakfast, and am waiting for Sebastian to finish, when Uncle Harry calls.

"Seby." I say sharply.

"What?" He snaps. Displeased that he was interrupted.

I don't say anything, I just show him my phone, which is still ringing. When I receive a nod from him, I turn and leave.

"What's up Uncle?" I ask, as he never calls Sebastian or I.

"I forgot to tell you and Sebastian something." He says nervously.

"Oh, okay. What is it?"

"You and Sebastian are shifters as well as your targets."

"Wow. Okay. Is that all?"

"No. Randolph and Ramona are your mates." He whispers, as if scared.

"Right, well, what do we do about the mission?"

"That part's up to you and Sebastian."

"Okay, bye." I reply and hang up.
