Ive been in the hospital for 3 weeks now, and apparently i was missing for a few days before i was found. Half-dead and bloody as all hell. I sat legs crossed on my hospital bed quietly, looking at a word search i was working on. The pen's end stuck in my mouth slightly as i scanned the letters. The word I was searching for ringing in my head, "chocolate..chocolate...c..h..o...l...nope.... hmmm...chocolate....chocolate..."
A soft tap brought my attention to the door way, a sweet little old lady peering at me, "excuse me, have you seen a young girl running around? Shes wearing a pink dress and two bows in her long hair."
I smiled sadly, "no, i haven't. But ill let her know you are looking for her. And ill let you know if i can find her."
The plump old lady smiled, "oh, thank you dearie. Her name is Diana, but she prefers to go by Ana. Thank you very much, hun."
"No problem. And what does she i call you, ma'am?" I smiled and nodded politely, my fingers twirling the pen a little as i gave her my full attention.
"Oh just call me Grammy dearie." She smiled and sighed softly. "I better get back to looking, thank you for your time."
I smiled at her as she turned away, and for a split second, i could've sworn her eyes were glowing red. I blinked in shock and saw nothing out of the ordinary as the old lady wandered by, searching for the little girl. I shook my head and looked down confused. Was I just imagining it? Im probably just paranoid....right..?
After ten minutes of careful scanning, i crossed out the word chocolate as i finally marked it in the book. That took way longer than usual for such a long word. I looked through the list and glanced at the next word, 'Batter'. I slowly scanned the box of letters, looking over the letters. I noticed motion in the corner of my eye and i looked at the doorway. A girl in a dress peered at me, but her face was contorted. Her eyes were beady and black, and her mouth stretched all the way down to her stomach, a slimy tongue wiggling a little as the creature panted. I held in my scream as i watched saliva drip from the long teeth the mouth flashed off. I dared a blink and refocused on the figure before me. But the creature was gone. Only a young girl looked at me with big brown eyes. She furrowed her brows slightly and pursed her lips as she looked behind her. Her hair swaying slightly as the bows in her hair stuck out. I tried to calm my mind and slowly thought back. "Dan..Daniella..? No...uh...Diana! A..Ana..." I stuttered.
The bright eyes looked at me again, "so grammy already came to you?" She frowned slightly and looked around my room.
"Shes not here right now. What are you doing running away from her anyways?" I asked as calmly as i could. I closed my word search and hid my clammy hands as i watched her.
"Because i don't want to eat broccoli! My mommy and daddy never would've made me if they were still conscious!" She stomped her foot and pouted.
I smiled sadly, "you know vegetables are good for you, right?"
She sighed and crossed her arms, "did that wretched woman tell you that? Broccoli is the reason my parents are in a coma!" She huffed and shook her head annoyed, "why wont anyone believe me?"
I looked at her shocked, "what are you talking about?"
She pouted, "my parents had some of her broccoli as an appetizer, dummy! And then they both fell asleep!" She stomped her foot and grumbled, "why are commoners everywhere in this dumb hospital?"
I stared at her dumbfounded by her attitude. Was she raised as a princess or something? "I'm sure your parents didn't fall into a coma because a little bit of broccoli..."
She wrinkled her nose in annoyance. "Well, duh. Its the weird voodoo crap that old hag keeps spewing about!" She shook her head, "ugh! If someone would just LISTEN to me, my parents would be awake again!" She stomped her foot and looked away, but i could see the small tremble her bottom lip did. She was scared.
"I...can help you..i am..listening after all..." i slowly stated. My mind cursing my kind heart; a small flash back to that strange brown haired boy causing me to shiver as a small ache formed under my bandages on my chest. I absently touched the place over my heart and looked numbly at the ceiling. I finally sighed and look back at the young girl who was at my bedside, her eyes wide with hope.
"You'll help me?!" She smiled brightly at me. I nodded slightly, caught off guard. "Yayyyy!!" She exclaimed, throwing a huge hug around me, i winced slightly but tried my best to smile. What am I getting myself into now.....
