I sat speechless on my hospital bed as the little girl, Diana, rambled on about this ridiculous story, her grandma being a witch who put a spell on her parents. The curse only took effect when they ate broccoli. I did my best not to look skeptical, but I couldn't help but let my mind wander slightly. I slowly looked towards the door, the hospital was unusually quiet, which made me hesitate and look back at Diana. The little girl was still rambling on and didn't mind insulting me a few times just to show how more superior she was. All I could think was: "No wonder her grandma wants her to go to sleep....She never shuts up."
I glanced at the clock and stopped Diana in her tracks. Her train of thought screeching to a halt. "It's really late, and I need to get some rest so I can heal up. Otherwise, how can I help you?" I smiled slightly at her. Her eyes watching me for a second with hurt and anger before switching to a happy smile.
"Oh! You're right! I will leave and come back tomorrow!" She climbed off my bed and I let myself relax a little.
"I'll call a nurse for you." I pushed the call button to get a nurse to come here.
"No need." She replied, strolling to the door, she smiled back at me and turned left. A moment later, a nurse came into the room from the hall where the girl had walked down.
"What do you need?" She asked sweetly.
"The little girl you just passed by, can you please make sure she gets to where she's trying to go?"
The nurse looked at me confused, then leaned out the door and looked both ways down the hall. Her hair was in a tight bun behind her and she had blue nurse scrubs. She looked back at me, "A little girl, you said?"
"Yes, she told me she was staying here because her parents are in a coma. She's called Diana. Her grandmother came a visited me too.." I watched her, conflicted with her questions.
"A couple that are in a coma?" She stared at me, confused. "I'm sorry but... we don't have any young girls wandering around.."
I frowned, "you clearly do! She had long brown hair with two cute ribbons tied to some strands! Shes wearing a dress too."
She stared at me and walked over to the clipboard, her confused look glancing at the IV and the paper. "It's been awhile since your last dosage..." She muttered, "you shouldn't be hallucinating...." She looked at me and gave a small smile. "I'll bring a doctor to you and we will help you figure out what you are talking about."
"But the—" I started before being cut off.
"—the little girl, will be found." She nodded, her footsteps quickly retreating back down the hall.
"What the hell...." I grumbled, my eyes looking at the door before shifting down to the crossword puzzle. I quickly dropped the book on the small table near my bed, laying down as I stared at the ceiling
"—I'm aware there isn't a little girl staying here, sir." A familiar voice danced down the hall, two sets of footsteps moving closer.
"Good, we need to figure out what drug is causing this hallucination. When was her last dose of pain killers?" A males voice closing in on me.
"Five and a half hours ago, doctor."
"The medicine starts wearing off by hour 6."
"But shouldn't we have had this effect before during the first few—"
"I am aware of that miss Holly, which is why we need to figure out if she was drugged or given the wrong medication or dosage."
"I understand, sir."
"Go to the security office and ask the guards about the security camera that watches this hall. If someone did go and give her a drug, we will be able to find them in the footage. If no one unusual sees them, check with the nurses that have been around her and question them about the medicine they gave her."
The two voices had stopped outside my room, my eyes finally rolling to look at the two figures. But, the only thing standing in the doorway was two skeletal frames. Skin melting off and dropping onto the floor. I bolted upright and stared at the horrifying creatures as they looked at me. One moving closer while growling. I started to panic and dared a blink again, only seeing a nurse and doctor where the hideous creatures once were.
"Miss Jenkins? Are you okay? Can you hear me?" She nurse asked, trying to comfort me as I hyperventilated. I nodded slightly and she gave me a concerned smile. "This is Dr. Chambers, he's here to help you. Is that alright, Miss?" I nodded again, looking away.
Dr. Chambers moved closer, "can you tell me what that was all about?" He seemed concerned, but I knew he wouldn't take me seriously. I shook my head and looked at him, my fear settling down again. "I can't help you unless you tell me what is going on.."
I stared at my hands, watching them shake in my lap.
A terrifying and familiar voice announced to me, "come now dear, don't keep these humans waiting~"
I looked up quickly, meeting the brown haired boys eyes. Terror suddenly rose in my body, a scream clawing at my throat, his purple eyes seemed to sparkle with satisfaction at my fear. "Ah, I'm glad you remember me." He was wearing a suit that I would expect a prince to wear. He wore black Victorian pants with a red waistcoat that was embroidered with black designs. A small hint of a button up shirt lying underneath, His black tailcoat bringing the Victorian look together.
He gave me a deep bow, his eyes never leaving mine, "good evening princess. It's a pleasure to meet you again."
