Ding Jia's mind automatically blanked out. She really didn't know what to do except closing her eyes. And that, she did.
In her mind, she had practically prayed all the buddhist prayers she knew. She prayed to the point that she really wasn't sure if she was praying a buddhist prayer or just randomly thinking of a prayer just so the bloody doctor in front of her would go away.
Ding Jia kept her eyes shut the entire time without moving a muscle. It felt like years of waiting before she heard the door open once again.
Due to the shock that she saw a few minutes before, she hesitated in opening her eyes.
What if it was another bloody doctor? Or a scary nurse?
"Jia'er? Are you alright? Are you in pain?" Something warm descended on her head along with the concerned voice that instantly melted her fears away. Ding Jia finally had the courage to open her eyes knowing that her parents are finally back at her side.
"Mom!" She cried out, pulling her mother into a hug. Burying herself onto her mother's shoulder, she let go all of her worries and cried out. Her mother became more worried as she listened to her daughter's cries get louder every minute. Every teardrop she cried felt like someone was squeezing her heart in pain.
Ding Jia stopped crying after quite awhile. Her parents immediately questioned her why she was crying, both filled with worry about their daughter. She immediately thought back to that scary doctor awhile ago, hesitating whether she should tell her parents about it or not.
After thinking it over for a few seconds, she decided not to tell them anymore. After all, they would quickly think that what she saw awhile ago must have been a hallucination brought by the accident she had experienced. She would definitely have to meet with a psychiatrist, and she instantly felt scared being treated like a mental patient.
It also hit Ding Jia that what she saw before could really possibly just a hallucination. She thought that it must've been a side effect since she just woke up from being in a comatose state and she is still in the middle of recovery. She wondered, maybe it was her mind playing tricks on her. Must be, hopefully.
Three days after that incident, Ding Jia completely put that memory behind. She was now focusing on recovering her health, so that she can quickly get back to her own feet and be free from this hospital. Honestly, she was now feeling so claustrophobic just by staying inside that room.
Ding Jia complained about this with the nurses so she was finally given permission to roam around with a wheelchair.
As Ding Jia closed the book she was reading, her eyes roamed around the empty room before stopping at the windows where the sunlight was streaming in inside her room. The warmth brought by the sunlight soother her skin, and that yellowish glow filled her with nostalgia.
Ding Jia smiled. She finally know what to do next.
Ding Jia had to convince her parents to take a rest after noticing that her mother and father never had a proper sleep ever since she got into an accident. After talking with them for almost an hour, she finally convinced them to go home and be assured that she will be alright since she could easily the nurses around her if she needs something. That was why today, she was free to do anything she wants to do without someone constantly nagging her to just sleep and take a rest instead.
With her other hand on the bed to support herself, Ding Jia stretched her arm out to reach for her IV bag. After a few attempts, she had finally succeeded in removing it from the bed stand then she moved it to the hook on the wheelchair. Since she just started eating light foods, she didn't have enough energy to really move about if she was without IV.
After transferring the IV bag, she slowly supported herself as she sat down on the wheelchair. After catching her breath for a little bit, she pressed the button on the side as the wheelchair moved backwards and turned to face the door. Pressing another button, it moved forward until she reached finally reached the doorknob to twist it.
After a few turns, Ding Jia finally reached the nurse's station of the VIP floor. The nurses there were shocked to see her out in her room at first, as they quickly asked her where she was going and if she was going to be okay in going out alone.
A sweet smile and a few words just did the trick before she finally got their okay's. Phew, even just by going out takes so long.
Since it was a good weather, Ding Jia decided to go to the small park located in the vicinity of the hospital. What Ding Jia saw the moment she reached the park were the children in hospital clothes playing by the swing, other patients and adults on the benches and walking around and a few birds playing by the trees.
Seeing this scenery, Ding Jia couldn't help but to smile. She felt so peaceful after a long long time. This kind of peace was something she often missed after she started working as an actress. That was why she always values little moments like this.
She continued on following the pathway, ignoring the gazes of other people following her movements. Ding Jia knew that they quickly recognized her and with the news that she had seen this morning, she was pretty sure that the people staring at her right now was pretty much aware of her situation. So instead of being stressed out by the attention, Ding Jia chose to ignore them and just followed whatever she wanted to do today. Watch the sun and breathe in some fresh air.
"Big Sister, I just saw you on TV!!" A little kid's voice blurted out which instantly caught Ding Jia's attention.
