Her knees wobbled and she directly fell on the floor with her hand holding the doorknob. She couldn't look away from the bloody woman now staring back at her.
Her body was swept away with fear as she froze kneeling at her door. A second later, the bloody woman disappeared in front of her eyes as if she was just a hallucination created by her mind.
Ding Jia mentally cursed. If it really was created by her mind, then her mind is damned. Why the hell would her brain make such scary stuff?!
The dog stopped barking as soon as the woman disappeared. Ding Jia glanced at the dog and felt even more scared.
Damn it! So if the dog was barking because of the woman.... Then what she saw was real?!
She felt weaker as her hand covered her gasp. Her whole body was trembling in fear from what she saw and her mind was in so much mess that she completely forgot that she was showing her weakness in front of a stranger. And a dog.
On the other hand, Luo Yang was finally relieved after seeing his dog finally calming down after he went on a barking craze as soon as they arrived in front of their apartment.
At first, he didn't mind why Arthur suddenly went crazy and started barking at the wall but looking at her neighbor's reaction when she opened her door, it quite seemed like she was looking at something?
Luo Yang withdrew his gaze and examined the wall decorated with a piece of painting in front of them.
...Was the painting that amazing? To the point that she was almost kneeling on the floor from shock?
But he'd seen many better paintings before and the painting in front of him… surely, it barely passes as an average painting. It clearly wasn't drawn by an expert painter.
He glanced at the woman who wasn't clear on her senses as she knelt by her door.
Looking at it closely… wasn't this the woman from yesterday?
Luo Yang finally recognized her. Since he wasn't too fond of watching films or dramas, he almost couldn't recognize the woman in front of him right now. But he remembered seeing a clip from her drama months ago, and even he truly applauded her acting. If it wasn't for his sister commenting in passing while watching her drama, he wouldn't even know that this woman was the Film Empress in the Acting Industry.
Hence, when the copyrights of his book series to be turned into the film were finalized, she was on the initial list of actresses that was suggested by the producer to act for the series. Eventually, he didn't choose any one from the list. Instead, he established a condition for all the characters when choosing the actors and actresses for the role.
But then, he was genuinely surprised to see her yesterday. And to think they were even neighbors living right next to each other.
Still, Luo Yang wasn't starstruck at all. He was supposed to treat her like any normal human being, but it seems like his dog disturbed her and most probably the reason why she was frozen in fear at the moment?
"Miss, are you alright? I apologize to my dog. It seems like he scared you." He tried to sound sincere, despite having such a cold tone.
The actress didn't respond and still seemed in shock. Even his dog noticed her presence and it seemed that Arthur sensed that the woman isn't okay so he ran over to her side and started licking her face. His movement seemed to wake her up from her reverie as she blinked and looked quite lost.
He wasn't heartless as he pulled on the leash to move the dog away from her and knelt down in front of her.
"Miss?" He waved his hand and snapped his fingers in front of her face.
Ding Jia finally snapped out of her trance. She immediately noticed the presence of two unfamiliar beings, one man and one dog staring at her.
She blinked in confusion.
"Wha-?"
"I'm sorry. It seems like my dog's barks scared you" The man in front of her stated as he stood up and extended his hand to help her up.
His dog?
Her gaze shifted towards the Labrador Retriever sitting beside the man with its tongue exposed. He looked at her with eager eyes, as he let out a bark as soon as he saw that her attention was on him.
She returned to her senses as the man's words finally registered in her head.
The dog barking. And then the bloody woman.
She felt a chill run down her back but she quickly hid her emotions in front of the stranger and acted normal.
"Ah, no. It's...alright." She paused. "It's been a while since I've last met a dog so I was just a bit shocked." She lied in between her teeth, pulling every ounce of being an actress in front of the man.
She hadn't gotten over the fact that she got too relaxed and revealed such weakness before a stranger. She should at least do her best to make this man ignore and forget how she acted minutes before.
Ding Jia took a good look at the stranger and immediately recognized who he was.
It was that rude man on the rooftop from yesterday!!!
Frustration quickly filled her up remembering how rude he was yesterday, but then she quickly realized that this was the same man who lowered down his voice and apologized on behalf of his dog for scaring her, which wasn't exactly the case because it wasn't his dog's fault at all.
Finally convincing him that she was already fine, the stoic man slightly nodded his head before turning his back walking towards the door across hers.
Ding Jia faintly gasped in surprise as her eyes slightly flickered.
Oh my god! The gorgeous man wasn't just a neighbor. He was even her next-door neighbor!!!!!
