After I left the library I decided it was time to get equipment so I can finally start my life as a Dungeon Diver. No use waiting any longer. Plus I need money to get my Slave Harem started right? That's the whole point in being here after all.
Thinking about what I wanted I decided that I would get a spear as a weapon. Obvious right? And for armor, I would look for some leather armor. I don't want to run around as a tin can after all. Plus once I leveled a bit there was the whole magic stuff. Why would I fight on the front lines if I could just stand behind and throw magic and stuff around? Ok, maybe a little fighting. I quite like the spear after all.
With that in mind, I walked down the street and towards the part of the city where most shops are located. After ten minutes I arrived at the merchants' district and began looking around for shops which sold the things I wanted. From the booklet I received at the Dungeon Divers Guild I also knew of some other things to buy. Like the monster warding stone. This stone was used inside dungeons and outside while traveling to repel monsters. While activated it would emit a sound on a frequency all monsters hated and would, therefore, stay clear of the area. The stone only worked if it wasn't moved so it couldn't be used to safely travel.
I walked into the first General Goods store exactly to get one of these and maybe a tent and a sleeping bag. Luckily the store had everything I wanted. In the end, I bought a monster warding stone, sleeping bag, tent, portable campfire, unlimited water bag (powered by the lowest of monster cores), different types of pans, kitchen knives, cutlery, and different types of plates. All together it cost me 10 silver. Slowly I was getting low on funds and I guess after buying armor and a spear I wouldn't have much leftover.
After leaving the General Goods store I found what looked like a leather workshop. Entering the shop I saw all kinds of leather armor on display. At one side of the store, there was a counter with a middle-aged looking elf standing there. He must be centuries old to look like that!
The elf greeted me "Welcome to Elnaril's leathers. What can we do for you?"
I smiled and said "Hello, I'm looking for a basic leather armor to go dungeon diving. It should be a complete set if possible."
The elf looked me over and said "An Orc looking for leather armor? Or at least half Orc? That's something you don't see much."
I laughed and said "Yeah half Elf-Orc to be exact. I want something to keep me relatively safe while still keeping my flexibility. You think you have something which works for me?"
"That's a rare combination if I ever have seen one. Yeah, we should be able to find something." After saying that he went around the store and picked up different pieces of leather armor.
After he picked everything he came back to the counter and put each piece on the counter. There were a total of five pieces, Chestpiece, vambraces, gloves, pants, and boots. Each piece was made of some dark brown leather and looked quite sturdy.
"This is a set of boar hide armor. It was made of hide from a monster boar out of a dungeon and is therefore quite resilient to slashing and stabbing damage. That is, of course only against low-level attacks or monsters from the lowest level of a dungeon." The elf explained.
I nodded and said "That sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. How much is the whole set?"
He smiled and said "Since it's low-level hide it is relatively cheap. Just one gold for the whole set."
I groaned and said "Sorry, that's way more than I could handle. Which pieces could I get for 10 silver?"
Laughing the elf said "I can see that you are a total beginner. Alright, I'll give you the chest piece for ten silver. Just come back and buy more once you got the coins alright."
I grinned and said "You've got yourself a deal. By the looks of it, the craftsmanship is really good so I'll definitely come back and buy the rest of it."
After paying for the chest piece I left the shop. And made my way down the road looking for a weaponsmith. While looking around I thought that I definitely need to go into the Dungeon. I need to make money as soon as possible. Silver coins just don't amount to much. Again I rage against the machine. Haha no really fucking thing that transported me into a new world without any armor or weapon! Shit should have at least given me more money! Dam misers! Yeah, it was totally not my fault for spending so much money on general goods. Fuck.
A little down the road I found a weaponsmith. Not having much money left over I just asked for a spear which doesn't cost more than 10 silver. I got a cheap wooden spear with an iron tip for it. It was probably the cheapest spear they had.
With my first personal weapon bought I made my way back towards the Inn. On the way, I bought some cheap food at the stalls littering the way. Some I ate on the way and the rest I kept in my inventory. I wanted to check if it halted the time or not.
Arriving at the Inn, I went into my room and put on the leather chest piece. Strapping the spear onto my back so that I didn't look unarmed when entering the Dungeon I decided it was time to go to the dungeon for the first time. It was only midday so I had a few hours to try out the first floor.
With my new armor donned and my awesome spear of primordial dragon bone strapped to my back, I left the inn towards the west gate. Maybe it was just me but while walking I heard someone play Survivors Eye of the Tiger.
Ok, I lied it wasn't out of dragon bone and I didn't hear an awesome song. But a man can dream, right?
A short walk later I arrived at the western gate and asked a guard for direction towards the dungeon. It was just a short walk outside the gate so I didn't need to waste much time until I arrived at what looked like the entrance of a cave.
