Like in those romance movies the green-skinned beautiful hideous creature and I ran at each other, arms open prepared to embrace the other.
The whole scene seemed to take place in slow motion. Right before I was able to embrace this beautiful hideous creature it's facial features suddenly distorted into a painful grimace.
It was only then, that I realized I still held my spear in my hands! The sharp end of the spear vanished in the body of the creature, right where its heart was. "NOOOOOOO!" I screamed.
It was too late though. The last light of life left the creature's eyes and it slumped down. Shortly afterward it melted back into the dungeon ground and left a small core behind.
I blankly looked at the core for a few minutes. Only then seemed reality to come crashing back into me. I realized that the creature wasn't beautiful. It wasn't the love of my life. It was a hideous monster trying to kill me!
It was just a fucking Goblin! I almost got done in by a fucking Goblin! It was all those dam slimes fault. I was just too happy to be rid of them to realize what was right in front of my eyes.
I shook my head to clean it off the slight fog still lingering around. It was at this moment that I realized that Dungeons were much more dangerous than I thought. They not only tried to kill you with monsters! They even played psychological games with you. Trying to get you to lower your guard and hit you when you're completely defenseless.
I picked up the Goblins core, which was slightly bigger than the slimes, and put it into my inventory. Balling my free hand into a fist I swore to be more on guard. I couldn't let the Dungeon play with my mind like this. It was way too dangerous. Especially once I'm on the higher floors and traps began to pop up.
I stopped in the room for a moment to get my bearings. Once I was back to normal I got up and looked at the corridor leaving this room. A small smile formed on my face. Finally, I could fight something else than slimes. Even if it was just fucking Goblins. Everything is better then slimes.
With my spear at the ready, I walked forwards into the next room. There was another Goblin in there. This time there were no delusional thoughts in my head. All I saw was an ugly, aggressive monster no bigger than a 10-year-old child.
Without hesitating, I charged forward only waiting for my spear to be in range. The Goblin likewise charge while swinging his wooden club in the air. Arriving before him I used a normal stab right through his head.
There was no suspense, no epic fight. Just one-shotting the thing. Maybe it was because of my training with the slimes, but it almost seemed like the Goblin either didn't see my attack or it was too fast. It didn't matter to me. What mattered was, that this was so much easier than fighting slimes. I didn't need to focus on one specific point but could kill it by hitting it in many weak spots. There are so many more options to hurt a Goblin than a smile. It was refreshing.
The one thing which made me feel even better was, that the Goblin not only dropped its core but also a copper coin. It looked like monsters not only dropped cores and essences, there was a chance to get other loot as well! Even coins are dropping! This was becoming more and more like an RPG game!
Even better was that I finally got new messages from the system!
I was finally able to level up my classes again! This was great! Thinking for a moment I decided to Level up the three classes I had equipped to ten and then slowly swap them out for others. Since I could swap between them without problems I didn't need the priest class active all the time and only needed to go back when I wanted to change classes of other people.
It was time to start massacring the goblins on this floor! For the rest of the day, I was like a grim reaper running wild on the second floor. Goblin after Goblin fell to my spear. I could even take on 3 Goblins at the same time with only a little more effort. It only got critical once there were 4 or more Goblins in a group so I stayed clear of the larger groups.
At the end of the day, I killed countless Goblins and managed to level up two more times. I managed to get a total of 150 Goblin Cores, 80 Goblin essences, and 50 copper coins.
Funny thing about the essences. I expected them to be a round glob like the ones from the slimes. Nope. No. That wasn't what I got. The Goblin essence was basically the liver of the Goblin. It was really gross, especially since it dripped green Goblin blood.
Ending my day in the Dungeon I felt refreshed. For the first time in days, I didn't feel like a slimy bastard as I made my way towards the Dungeon Divers Guild. I felt so good I even skipped while walking, which netted me some strange looks from other Divers, but care I did not! I felt refreshed from the feeling of stabbing and slashing Goblins. It was a whole new world!
What pleased me, even more, was the money I got for the cores and essences. The Goblin cores sold for 15 coppers and the essences for 20 coppers so I got a grand total of 36 silver and 50 copper.
It wasn't long until I had enough money to finally buy myself, my first slave! I was so looking forward to that.
As always I ended the day with dinner in my Inn and a bath. I fell into the small bed with a grin permanently plastered on my face. All in all, today was a good day!
